Lego Minifigures Series 6 Review Part 1

Series 6 has finally hit Malaysia! Randomly went into Brickboy’s yesterday and my heart did a double take as I saw the white box on their counter. Wasted no time in picking up a few packs but as I suspected, Lego fans with connections to Brickboys had already swept through the boxes picking up all the Legionaries, Highlanders and Space Girls.

Not surprised one bit and I will have some time in the future to amass my army of Roman Legionaries in due time.

Each random pack of minifigures cost RM9.90

Here’s a bunch of minifigs I managed to pick up.

Classic Alien “The truth is around here somewhere!”

Lego Minifigures Series 6 - Alien

First up, we’ve got a classic Area 51 Alien guy! Overall a simple but effectively done minifigure capturing the essence of the popular image of extra terrestrials. Scores points for being true to its source material and minimalism.

Minifig Rating: 8/10

Lady Liberty “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled Minifigures yearning to build free!”

Lego Minifigures Series 6 - Statue of Liberty

I love everything about this stunning rendition of the Statue of Liberty. From the colours, to the flame to the hair piece and the tablet she’s holding. Everything is spot on, right down to the text on the tablet, which is the date of the American Declaration of Independence, July 4, 1776. Do note that the hairpiece is made of squishier, non-ABS plastic but that’s fine with me, the quality doesn’t feel suspect.

Minifig Rating: 9/10

Leprechaun “Sure, I’ll show you where my gold is hidden! Just close your eyes and spin around three times…”

Lego Minifigures Series 6 - Leprechaun

The mythical Irish creature has all the trappings of a cute minifigure to get. I wouldn’t call this a must-get, but I liked it enough to warrant a purchase. For me, I like the green Top-Hat (will come in handy for any St Patrick’s Day builds!), pot and the print on the Leprchaun’s torso (even though he has a 3 leaf clover instead of a 4). Only bit I’m disappointed in is the inclusion of pearly gold 1×1 round bricks instead of traditional Lego Golden Coins.

Easily rectified, this time with a pot of real gold under a rainbow.

Minifig Rating : 6/10

Clockwork Robot “Beep-boop! Who-wants-a-hug?”

Lego Minifigures Series 6 - Robot

This. This is everything a new minifig should be. Charming, unique and just lovingly designed. The Clockwork Robot is the perfect combination of cute and goofy. Excellent torsio and feet painting (the knobs are shiny!), wonderful use of colours, a new unique square head and red hands. I liked them I bought two (for now… A robot army MAY come in handy, you never know) and what’s a clockwork robot without a clockwork wind me up key?

One if not the best minifigs of Series 6.

How can you not love these little dudes!

Minifig Rating: 12/10

That’s all for now, stay tuned for part 2! Hope I get to find some Roman Legionaries soon!
