Lego unveils 10234 – Sydney Opera House.

Sydney Opera House 5

SO. Lego just unveiled this mammoth Expert-level set and all I can say is, WOW. I had initially been quite disappointed that the Architecture version of the Opera House was quite small scale and didn’t properly reflect the scale and beauty of the real building, but seeing this set being previewed on Youtube, I am just blown away by the sheer size and majesty of  this set. Weighing in at almost 3,000 bricks, most of which in the coveted dark tan shade, this set is going to be a beast to display. My wife isn’t the biggest fan of Lego, but I’m pretty sure that she wouldn’t mind this beauty being on display in the living room.

Check out the video where, Jamie Berard, LEGO Design Manager Specialist, introduces the  Sydney Opera House and talks about the challenges of bringing Australia’s most famous architectural masterpiece to life.

I love his enthusiasm and passion as he talks about it. It’s well known that designing the Sydney Opera House has been a monumental challenge due to its unique shape, but I’m very glad that they managed to pull it off in such spectacular fashion.

Sydney Opera House Box

The Sydney Opera house will be released in September 2013 and will retail for:
US $319.99 CA $379.99 DE 279.99€ UK 249.99 £ DK 2499.00 DKK

No Australian pricing yet, but I expect this to cost at least AU$400.00 when it reaches our shores. I hope I’m proven wrong!

Having being to the Sydney Opera House a couple of time, I have to say that they’ve done an exceptional job of making sure the little details like the waterfront, lamps and even steps that lead up to it look as close to the real thing as possible. Will have to save up for this beautiful baby.

Here are more high resolution pictures of the Sydney Opera House for your viewing pleasure.

Do you know where to buy lego architecture studio 21050 in malaysia?

    • Jay says:

      Hey Mus

That’s actually a pretty rare set and it’s even sold out LEGO.com, so I’m not too sure if it’s available in Malaysia. You could try checking out the new LEGO store that opened in Bangsar Village, but I reckon your chances will be quite slim. If you’re really desperate, you could try getting them off Bricklink.

I would be glad if you can update me on latest ARCHITECTURE LEGO..plus the price..

Hey Emma unfortunately I’ve not owned an architecture Lego set yet but I hope to soon. I’ll try my best to update when new sets are released in Australia.
