Iconic Shots of the Lego Sydney Opera House

It’s no secret that I’ve been excited about the Sydney Opera House (SOH) ever since it was announced and when the first images of Lego’s latest Creator Expert set were unleashed upon the web, I’ve been salivating over the model!

To celebrate the launch of Australia’s most iconic structure as well as commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Sydney Opera House which kicks off next month, Lego Australia sent me a couple of pictures that captures the SOH’s most iconic moments in history.

I particularly like this “Under Construction” photo of the Opera House. Great use of the sepia effect and I like that they included little crates and building materials on the promenade.

Here’s the iconic picture that it’s based on. Not a bad job of replicating this little bit of history, down to the sepia tones!

This shot is slightly more futuristic and cooler as it’s a re-creation of Vivid Sydney, an annual lights and music festival in the capital of NSW. I happened to be at this year’s Vivid and it was pretty cool. They basically beam lasers, lights and moving images on to iconic Sydney landmarks such as the Harbour Bridge and Opera House, turning the whole city into a beautiful kaleidoscope of colours.

My real-life photo taking skills are a little suspect, so I’ll leave you this professionally taken photo that I took from Vivid Sydney’s official page.

The Lego Sydney Opera House went on sale at the beginning of September, so there’s still plenty of time to pick one up. In fact, if you’re thinking of getting one, this weekend will be one of the best times.

Myer has a whopping 20% off Lego from 19 September – 13 October in conjunction with their toy sale. If you’re a Myer One member, you’ll get an additional 10% off all toys if you use this voucher which is valid from 19 – 22 September. That means you’ll be able to get this almost 3,000 brick behemoth at only  AU$287 this weekend. That’s an incredible steal and if you’re out to get one, I highly recommend you do it ASAP before the scalpers/hoarders get to it.

Thanks for reading! Will close today’s post off with this incredible 60 second time lapse video on the Lego Sydney Opera House.
