Toys “R” Us Australia Bricktober 2014 Promotion – Mini Modular Sets Available 1 October

TRU Australia Bricktober 2014

Good news for Australian LEGO fans! In a completely unexpected (at least to me) move, Toys R Us Australia will be celebrating Bricktober 2014 from 1 – 14 October 2014.

Toys R Us Bricktober Mini Modular Sets

The best part of this news is the availability of four really cool Mini Modular sets during this two week period – the Theatre, Pizza Place, Fire Station and Town Hall. Constructed in the same style as 10230 Mini Modulars, these four sets can be yours after spending $100 or more on LEGO at Toys R Us during their Bricktober promotion.

Based on the terms and conditions (which you can find below) it appears that you will be able to purchase them each for $14.99. I’ve sent Toys R Us a message clarifying this and will update if there are any changes.

UPDATE 5 (9.00am 1/10): The Bricktober saga continues. It now appears that Toys R Us Australia has done a complete 180° and reversed their decision to sell the Bricktober Mini Modulars separately. I think they underestimated the demand and realised that they needed to save sets for people who actually spent $100 on LEGO.

As of 9:00am EST, the only set that is available online is the Theatre. If you didn’t get your sets before, your best bet would be to try to go instore and see if they can sell you these sets separately.

LEGo Bricktober Bonus TRU Online

If you’re buying more than $100 of LEGO online, a random Bricktober Mini Modular will be added to your cart – you won’t get to choose what you want, so tread lightly.

UPDATE 4 (3.25pm 30/9): The Bricktober sets are back online on the Toys R Us website. Get in quick while you can!

UPDATE 3: The Bricktober sets seem to have been taken down so the links below don’t work any more. Not sure if because they were put on the site prematurely or if they’ve sold out. Will update once I find out more.

UPDATE 2: The four Bricktober sets are now available for purchase on Toys R Us’ website for $15 each. Get them quick! Here are the direct links for your convenience:

Some of these links might  work. The sets keep appearing and disappearing for no particular reason. Check in throughout the day to see what’s available.

UPDATE: Just heard from Toys R Us and you will be able to purchase the Bricktober Mini Modular sets separately. Hooray!

Toys R Us Australia Bricktober Promotion 2014

The promotion is found tucked away in the back page of the latest Toys R Us catalogue which also contains a selection of LEGO sets on sale. Here are some of the highlights:

I’m very excited about the Mini Modulars because I thought this was another one of those pesky US-only promotions, so it’s extremely encouraging that Toys R Us Australia was cool enough to launch the Bricktober promotion here simultaneously as well. The fact that you seem to be able to buy these Mini Modular sets outright is even better.

Larger images of the Mini Modulars below. What do you think of these and will you be picking these sets up?

They’re quite the collectible, and due to their exclusive nature – I will not be surprised that these get snapped up quickly by scalpers so my advice is to be quick and get them before the scalpers do.

Yeah Im really peeved about this proomtion. We were overseas at the time and being the lego freak that my son and I am I called Toys R Us to request that they hold these lego packs for me as they knew me and how much I buy and they supposedly held them for me for when I return and surprise surprise they were misplaced when I returned and no one could find them!

    Hi Jay,

Any news on when the X-men set will be in Australian stores, or if they even will be? October already and still yet to be sighted….

    • Jay says:

Hey Dlim, sorry for the delayed response. Just heard from LEGO Australia and unfortunately, the set will not be sold in Australian stores and will only be available on LEGO.com.

This is REALLY strange, as I don’t believe there is precedent for this as it isn’t an exclusive set. I’ve reached out to find out why this is the case for the X-Men set… but I don’t think I’ll get a detailed response.

  3. Harris says:

I just saw the updates. Did anyone manage to snatch some mini modulars? Fingers crossed they still have more stock.

    • Jay says:

I managed to get mine yesterday and they’ve been despatched, so I’m hoping to get them tomorrow!

They got taken down online again, so if I were you, I’d try in store or check again tomorrow! TRU’s online store is pretty fiddly.

  4. Christina says:

Hi Please confirm Lego 40180, 40181, 40182 & 40183 Bricktober mini modular sets will be able to purchase them each for Aud15/- need not spend Aud100/- in Toy R Us and kindly advise can ship to Singapore.
    Thanks

    • Jay says:

Hi Christina, yes I can confirm (based on what TRU have told me that you can purchase them separately.

You may have to go in stores to get them as they seem to have been taken down their website for now.

As for shipping to Singapore, I’m not sure – I don’t think Toys R Us Australia ships to Singapore.

  5. Fiona says:

Thanks for the info Jay. Yes, it does look like you can buy them. I don’t like them personally but they will be a good collectable – at a good price. BTW don’t forget that BRICKVENTION tickets go on sale 1/10 http://www.brickventures.org.au – Melbourne 17 and 18 Jan 2015. I’m really looking forward to that!

  6. Daniel says:

    Hello Jay!
That’s such a cool promotion! I wish they had these in Malaysia… This is kinda off topic, but is there any Lego stores in Malaysia which have a Pick-a-Brick station, because I’m trying to get some pieces for my Lego MOC
    Thanks!
    Daniel

    • Jay says:

Hey Daniel, yes they are! The LEGO Store at The Curve has a proper PAB section.

Independent stores like Mighty Utan and (i think) Bricksmore also have pick a brick, but usually with a random assortment of parts if I recall correctly

    • Jay says:

If you’re looking for specific parts, I highly recommend using Bricklink. It’s much easier and more convenient to get exactly what you want.
