Australian LEGO Sales December 2014 – Christmas Edition

UPDATE: For all LEGO Boxing Day sales, please check out the dedicated Boxing Day sales post!

Can you believe that it’s December? As we approach the year end and Christmas, retailers are stepping up their LEGO discount game,  which is pretty much the best since this is one of the best times to shop for LEGO.

To keep track of the madness, check back here for all the LEGO deals and sales throughout Australia in December. Let’s get to it, all the LEGO sales that are happening in the lead up to Christmas.

Remember, you do not have to shop at these respective retailers – try to price match as much as possible (unless of course it’s an exclusive set) to avoid driving all over Melbourne looking for what you want.

Myer (17 – 24 December)

MYER Lego Christmas Sale 2014

As we hurtle towards Christmas, Myer has a sweet 20% off all LEGO till Christmas Eve – that’s the 24th of December in case you were wondering!

20% is great and the sale works both online and in-store. If you were holding out on buying Metalbeard’s Sea Cow ($311), Parisian Restaurant ($199) or Palace Cinema ($160), now would be the best time to get it from Myer. With Christmas only 8 days away, you should get them quickly before they sell out in the inevitable last-minute Christmas gift rush.

Target (13 – 24 December)

Target LEGO Christmas Sale 2014

Not wanting to miss out on last minute Christmas shoppers, Target is also offering 20% off all LEGO till Christmas Eve. From the targets I’ve been to, stock levels have been quite dire so your best bet would be to search online.

The only notable big ticket item that’s available online right now is LEGO 10937 DC Super Heroes Arkham Asylum Breakout ($199) but if you manage to find any Ewok Villages or UCS R2-D2s in store, those would be good buys too.

Target (Catalogue link 4 – 10 December)

Target LEGO Sale 20 percent - December 2014

Target is letting loose with one of my favourite kinds of sales, a flat 20% of all LEGO. The only negative is that the catalogue only runs for about a week. 20% off sales are great if you’re just looking for a bargain on any LEGO set.

Highlights in the catalogue includes their sweet range of exclusives such as:

David Jones (Catalogue link 4 – 7 December)

David Jones LEGO 4 Day Sale

David Jones is kicking off a 4-day sale with 20% off LEGO which is extremely fortuitous since they have some juicy exclusives and big ticket items in their inventory. They are the only retailer in Australia selling the Creator Fairground Mixer.

They are also one of the only major retailers that’s carrying the new Hobbit Lonely Mountain set, which I will most likely pick up. Here are my top picks to look out for at David Jones:

Myer (Catalogue link 27 November – 24 December)

Myer LEGO Sale December 2014

Myer have a looong catalogue, which goes all the way till Christmas eve. The obvious highlight of the catalogue is the fact that Modulars are now back at Myer, as well as exclusives like the Millennium Falcon and City Town Square. Unfortunately, the Grand Emporium and Town Hall are sold out online, but you can try your luck and check with your friendly Myer salespeople to check if they can order it from other stores.

The discounts are kind of erratic – Modulars and Town Square are discounted by about 10% and the Millennium Falcon comes in at about 20%.

Myer 50 percent off Second Toy

To make up for the somewhat average discounts, Myer has a 50% off your 2nd toy offer from 3 – 7 December which is a great deal – if you manage to buy two LEGO sets which are at the same price, this would translate to an extra 25% savings. Protip: get a friend and buy 2 Modular sets for maximum savings.

Here are some of the best deals from the Myer Catalogue:

Kmart (Catalogue Link 4 – 10 December)

Kmart LEGO Sale December 2014

Kmart have a short catalogue that kicks off today which has some LEGO spread out all across their pages. To make it easier to see everything in one image, I’ve cut and paste all the LEGO sets on sale into one handy image.

While the selection of LEGO sets on sale is quite small, there are some really great deals in this such as Benny’s Spaceship, Spaceship, Spaceship!!! and City Police Station which come in at around 30% off respectively. I’ve picked out some of the highlights and best savings. I’ve used the sets’ RRP instead of Kmart’s slightly discounted prices for comparison.

  • LEGO 70816 LEGO Movie Benny’s Spaceship, Spaceship, SPACESHIP! – $109 (RRP $150)
  • LEGO 70811 LEGO Movie The Flying Flusher – $29 (RRP $40)
  • LEGO 70806 LEGO Movie Castle Cavalry – $29 (RRP $40)
  • LEGO 60047 City Police Station – $99 (RRP $150)
  • LEGO 41034 Friends Summer Caravan – $29 (RRP $40)

Big W (Catalogue link 4 – 10 December)

Big W LEGO Sale December 2014

Big W has a small selection of LEGO sets on sale as well which include City Vehicles for $20 and one of their biggest exclusives this year, the Arctic Ice Breaker. Here are my top picks:

That’s all for now! The sales are coming in fast and hard so all the best to your wallet! I hope you have way more self control than me!

Oh man, AUD99 for the LEGO City Police Station?! That’s cheap, yo!!! My sis-in-law bought it for around AUD100 or so from Target, but then again, that was the price offered during last month’s sales…

    • Jay says:

Yeah! Pretty good price. I was very tempted to get it but got distracted by other sets! 😛

      • Jaclyn Ngan says:

Yeah, I’m soooo jelly at the monthly sales for LEGO sets over there. It’s so much cheaper. I mean, AUD99/100 for the LEGO City Police Station. You’d save over RM200 from the crazy price they offer here! But at last, my childhood of owning a LEGO City Police Station has been realized…

I’ve looked around here and despite the Christmas season, there’s not much of an offer for LEGO. Toy R Us offers to give you discount vouchers ONLY if you spend like over RM300, if I’m not wrong? And only the newest LEGO shop at Empire in Subang Jaya offers 30% off for certain sets in every line, whereas Isetan only offers 20% off on City sets as well, but it’s still nothing much.

I’ve heard of a lot of crazy LEGO sales in Malaysia recently, with up to 70% and 50% off some of the older sets. Malaysians being Malaysians, there has been a bit of a frenzy to grab the discounted sets according to some friends.

Are you a member of the Lego fan of Malaysia Facebook group? It’s quite active and has people sharing information on local sales there.

          • Jaclyn Ngan says:

Wow, 50% and 70% off old sets?! I thought those would only apply on the not-so-popular Chima sets. I’m not a member, but I’ll go look into it. Thanks!!

  2. You are just awesome!

  3. Wendy Ross says:

This is a long shot, but I don’t suppose you know where I could get the lego duplo play house set 10505 from in Aus? Looked on their website and can’t believe they charge $30 for shipping!! My daughter loves lego, I think I am going to have a future investing in Lego so we are now thinking about trying to open the first Aus lego store!!! LOL. Or where is the best place in Melbourne to go for Duplo? We are on the Mornington Peninsula.

    Thanks, and love this site!

    • Jay says:

hi Wendy, I’ll be honest – DUPLO isn’t normally my area of expertise!

I recommend trying to either contact your local Toyworld to see if they have stock. It seems like its an old-ish set so Toyworlds might have it.

Alternatively you could try to give Rick from http://www.rickjamesbricks.com.au a call. He has a LEGO store up in Pakenham and he might be able to help you.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you manage to get it. Good luck!

I’ve been looking for the new Hobbit sets in local stores, as I want to get them on a 20% off sale. However, the only store I can find which stocks them is Toyworld, who use full RRP and do not have the Battle of the Five Armies set. Have you seen them anywhere?
