LEGO Pirates 2015 – Australian Release and Price Details

LEGO Pirates 70413 - The Brick BountyI was checking up on the tracking status of my LEGO Birds set on LEGO.com over my lunch break and stumbled upon some interesting stuff – Australian prices for the upcoming Pirates 2015 sets! You can now check out the prices and product listings on the Australian LEGO.com shop but you can’t purchase them yet – they will be available online on 1 March 2015.

When will these show up in Australian brick & mortar toy stores? The LEGO 3D Catalogue App has an Australian release date of April 2015. I’m guessing that the new Pirates set will be available for purchase online on shop.lego.com/en-AU for about a month before they actually show up in Australia. There’s tons of precedent for that to happen.

Personally, I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for LEGO Pirates, and the new sets look pretty cool, especially the new pirate ship, The Brick Bounty which received its name from a contest that ran on LEGO’s Rebrick website a couple of months ago.

Here are some pictures to get you excited for the return of LEGO Pirates!

That’s it! I hope you’re as excited as I am about Pirates 2015. I’m looking forward to the Soldiers Fort the most, it would be great to cobble a few of them together to create a decent-sized fort. I have a thing for LEGO Pirate forts (more so than ships, gasp!) as one of my favourite sets of all time is the classic 6276 Eldorado Fortress.

Let me know in the comments if you have any of these sets on your wishlist!

  1. KAIN says:

I owned the first pirate sets in the early nineties – the caribbean clipper and the black seas barracuda. Also owned the a couple islands. this brings back memories because the soldiers with their trademark blue and white flag have also returned.

  2. Shea says:

I’m thinking of getting the four smaller sets to add to my small Pirate collection from the 2009 theme. I like how the sets are designed to connect with each other – hopefully the final result works. I’m really looking forward to the bluecoat soldiers, to counter the red coats from the previous theme. The new pirate costumes look very well-done as well.

It’s interesting how these sets seem to be exactly based off those released in 2009, with some differences. I don’t really mind though, as I didn’t pick up many of the 2009 sets. It is a bit disappointing that the new treasure island doesn’t include a custom moulded baseplate like the 2009 version did. Lately LEGO seems to be largely doing away with baseplates in sets altogether, especially the non-standard ones.

    • Jay says:

I missed out on the Pirates theme in 2009, so this is my chance for redemption. It does feel a little recycled when you compare it to 2009, but I think with classic themes such as Castle/Pirates, it’s good to stick with the basics. You’re spot on about baseplates disappearing – I hope they come back. I have the Pyramid set from Pharaoh’s Quest which had an amazing raised tan baseplate.

  3. Awesome! Awesome! Awesome!

  4. Nick says:

    Good day, Jay!

I have to say, you have really been putting in the hours into your posts of late. The series 13 CMF post was gigantic and was a really good way to spend some time reading about Lego rather than buying it!

I was really excited when I first heard about Pirates getting a resurrection. Personally, I like the shipwreck defense, soldier’s outpost and treasure island. I guess if money were no object, I’d get all of them, but all things considered those smaller builds really look quite interesting. The gator and the saw-nosed shark evidence the continual efforts of the Lego Group to produce different/re-tooled animals that I really get. I am a little surprised we don’t get ANY regular sharks in the first wave of Pirates but then again, I’m sure there are some recent sets that do include them (or am I mistaken?)

On a side note, with reference to western theme, I agree whole-heartedly that the Lone Ranger movie sucked. My partner and I saw it in Bowral, NSW and we missed the first 15 minutes which apparently mattered not as the rest of the movie had no redeeming qualities whatsoever. It was just a poorly scripted and very rushed piece. I’m disappointed that Disney would do such a thing. 🙁 In terms of the Lego Lone Ranger sets, I did buy a couple and was reluctant to open them. I bought the mine, the stagecoach, the one with the teepee and the bank. I never did get around to opening them after a good 12 months – the result? Gumtree. I bought them on sale from Myer when they had their huge clearance so even selling them at below retail price (which I thought was reasonable) I still came out well in front. Better they go to an excited child who adores Western theme rather than sit in my closet!

Thanks for the efforts Jay. Your writing is appreciated and no doubt, the page visits are continuing to rise!

    All the best,
    Nick

      Hi Nick

      Good day to you too!

Yeah, I got some good momentum over the holidays, so I’m trying to keep it up. I enjoy writing and I’m always striving to produce timely content if possible!

Yeah the sets look like good bits of fun – helps that they’re quite affordable, compared to licensed themes. I really love the new gators too, hoping to find some of the new City which should be out soon!

Glad you made some money back! I managed to get all of my LR sets for well below retail as well – once I have some space, I’m sure I’ll get to them 🙂

Thanks again Nick! I’ll keep trying my best!
      Cheers
      Jay

  5. Jaclyn Ngan says:

Not really a wish list, but since there’s so many possibilities that LEGO would revive discontinued now that they’ve brought back the Ninja line with Ninjago, Agents line with Ultra Agents, Classic LEGO and now Pirates, I wouldn’t mind seeing the Western or Imperial Guards line coming back. I vaguely remember owning some Western sets as a kid.

    • Jay says:

Well we did get Lone Ranger not too long ago, which was kind of a spiritual successor to the Western theme! While the movie might’ve tanked, the sets are really high quality. Unfortunately, I missed out on the Stagecoach

      • Jaclyn Ngan says:

Ah, I didn’t know the Lone Ranger sets were meant to be spiritual successors to the Western line. I also didn’t bother to check out the movie when it was out either, so I guess that’s a good thing?

I went over to the LEGO shop at Bangsar on Sunday and spotted the new City sets. unfortunately, I’m not too fond of the Swamp Police sets (it looks too similar to the Forest Police sets) so I’m going to pass.

My next purchase list are the Double Decker Couch and Ultra Agents’ Invizable Gold Getaway.
