LEGO Avengers 2015 Australian set prices revealed by Kmart

So the strangest thing happened today. I was browsing through a random Kmart when I chanced upon some empty LEGO shelves which had a whole bunch of new price tags on it. There were no sets and each price tag was obscured by one of those green Product Temporarily Not Available slips. Curiosity got the better of me and I shifted  those slips away and I discovered prices for the upcoming wave of 2015 Avengers Age of Ultron sets!

I was very very surprised because the Avengers sets Australian release date was supposed to have been March 2015, alongside the DC Superheroes sets. It was also a big deal because this is (to my knowledge) the first indication of Australian pricing of the Avengers sets! They’re not listed on LEGO.com yet, so it was great being able to find out the local prices.

Please keep in mind that Kmart usually prices their LEGO slightly below RRP, although the exact amount seems to fluctuate wildly. These prices will not be completely indicative of the actual RRP of the Marvel sets, but it’s all we have now till the sets get listed online or leaked elsewhere. For example, I also saw a tag for 76026 Gorilla Grodd Goes Bananas on the shelves and it was priced at $79 – only 1 dollar below RRP.

Without further ado, here’s a Jay’s Brick Blog exclusive look at the Kmart prices for the Avengers Age of Ultron LEGO sets.

LEGO Avengers 2015 Kmart Australia Price List

LEGO 76029 Iron Man vs Ultron – $19

LEGO 76030 Duel With Hydra – $39

LEGO 76031 Hulkbuster Rescue Mission – $49

LEGO 76032 The Avengers Quinjet Chase – $129

LEGO 76038 – Attack on Avengers Tower – $99

Not too bad, honestly! I think the Quinjet, Hulkbuster and Avengers Tower are all decently priced, being licensed sets and all. The Quinjet’s European price is €85, which makes our price of $129 not that far off the mark.

Like I pointed earlier, these sets aren’t supposed to be on the shelves yet and I have no idea why these price tags are out on the shelves when it’s nowhere near March yet. I have a few theories:

  1. We’re getting these sets earlier than the catalogue promised. There’s already precedence (sort of) for this, with news streaming out of Malaysia that the Pirates 2015 sets are already on sale when they’re supposed to only be available in March.
  2. Someone made a mistake and printed out the wrong tags
  3. This is all an elaborate ruse to make my blog look bad

Kmart Avengers 2015 Set Price Tags

Oh and here’s proof, in case you think I’m drunk. I did ask a sales assistant to check if they had any in stock (I was hoping they were in the storeroom or something) but they all showed up as having 0 stock. She did also say that they have ordered the sets and they should arrive soon. Take that anecdotal insight with a little grain of salt.

I honestly think that it’s option #1. Also on the shelves were some of the other price tags of sets that are actually supposed to show up in February such as the new LEGO Movie sets, Ninjago 2015, Bionicle, Star Wars and curiously enough… Speed Champions as well. I might post up the Speed Champions price details tomorrow, it’s way past my bed time now!

The only set that didn’t have its price tag in Kmart was 76041 Burglary at the Hydra Fortress. I think this set will be an exclusive to a retailer and explains why there aren’t any official photos of it on the internet.

Anyway, hope you guys enjoyed my little bit of investigative (and serendipitous) reporting. Have your say in the comments section!

(told you we were going hard on Super Heroes this month)

While March seems to be a long way out (Feb. is a short month after all), our local ToysR’Us stores in the U.S. will pre-set shelving like this all the time. During the month delay, the shelf space will be taken up with a cardboard displayer promoting already stocked content (Guardians of the Galaxy, for instance). Once the new product comes in, the cardboard displayer will migrate to the next pre-staged set of shelves (for April/May releases) and so on until GotG retires and the cardboard display gets swapped out for an Avengers 2 one or somesuch.

Ah cool, I didn’t know that. We normally never get any pre-set shelving here in Australia and cardboard marketing collateral is unheard of here. Very interesting that they do that in the states – it sounds like a great way to get people excited about upcoming sets. The Australian retail shopping experience is quite lackluster unfortunately.

Ooh. Well spotted! Thanks for the news.

Looking forward to getting some of these minifigs and bigfigs 🙂

And I can’t wait for your double decker couch review!

    Hi Jay!

Do you by any chance know when the lego movie set will be release in Australia?
I really want to buy the Double Decker set.

Thank you and your blog is really cool!

    • Jay says:

      Hey Nadia

Thanks for the kind words, I’m really glad that you like the blog!

The new wave of LEGO Movie sets which include the Double Decker Couch is set to be released this month, but I’m not too sure exactly when as LEGO tend to release new sets in batches. Shouldn’t be too long now! Keep an eye out on the blog tomorrow, I have a review of the Couch going up!

    Good work, Nancy Drew!

More plastic to drool over. The attack on Avengers Tower looks the goods.

As for the Speed Champions, I already found a LaFerrari in Germany: https://www.flickr.com/photos/106014156@N08/sets/72157648227720894/

    • Jay says:

Oh very cool! That’s shockingly early. What do you think of the sets and the stickers?
Something funny seems to be up with LEGO’s distribution – street dates are being broken all over

      • Superfunk says:

Very nice model, a bit big and, of course, lots of stickers. But it’s an interesting build and the car still fits into the city!

        • Jay says:

I really love the new wheels! Thanks for sharing the photos. I might have to get them now. They seem pretty affordable as well. Good for impulse buys.

  6. Jaclyn Ngan says:

Oooh, I’ve always wanted Thor and Hawkeye’s minifigures but I can’t decide if I want that Hydra Showdown set. Decisions, decisions…
