I am away for holiday – in Japan!

If you’ve been following me on Instagram (@jayong28), you would’ve known that I’m currently in Japan! It’s beautiful here and I’m so glad to finally be on holiday. It’s me and my wife’s first overseas trip (that isn’t our honeymoon) together so we’re plenty excited to explore this amazing country.

I’ll be taking a short break from posting on my blog (as I don’t have LEGO with me!) but I should get back into the swing of things when I get back to Australia in about 2 weeks. I will hopefully be checking out some LEGO-related places and attractions in Japan, so fingers crossed I’ll have something to write about.

Till then, if you’d like to follow me on my non-LEGO Japanese adventures which will involve lots of food, sightseeing and random Japanese stuff, check out Foodsteps, our food and travel blog that will chronicle our journey through Japan.

Talk to you soon!

Ah, Japan… I’ve actually spent 2 years studying the language and culture in Tokyo. If you’re in Tokyo and looking for LEGO related places, they actually have LEGO store which are called LEGO Click Bricks (I dunno why lol!) and their LEGO products are relatively cheaper due to the exchange rate. 😀

Oh that’s so cool! I definitely plan to check out Click Bricks. The Aussie dollar is pretty weak right now so I don’t know if it’ll be a lot cheaper. Fingers crossed.

Have you been to the Legoland Discovery Centre? Is that worth a visit?

      • Jaclyn Ngan says:

Oh no, I haven’t got the chance to do so when I went back to Tokyo last year. 🙁 I’m looking forward to the grand opening of LEGOLAND Nagoya though. That place seriously needed a reason for me to go because there’s literally nothing over there, haha!

Jay; I went to the LEGOLAND Discovery Center at Decks Tokyo Beach Mall, Odaiba (Tokyo) a few years ago.

Being a discovery centre, it’s not likely to have a lot of interest for you in terms of rides, as it’s very much aimed at young children (a lot more so than regular LEGOLANDs), but I still really enjoyed the small Miniland section, and would recommend taking a look if you get the chance (if you haven’t already).

It has lots of brick-built Tokyo landmarks and the overhead lighting flicks from day to night, so it’s cool to see all the models light up for the nighttime mode, then look at them all again in the daylight mode, where you can take in more of the intricacies of each build.

        Enjoy! 🙂

          Hi Niki

Thanks for the heads up, unfortunately I didn’t manage to find time to go to the Discovery Centre. I did manage to check out Click Brick at Roppongi and bought a few little things there which was nice. Maybe next time! They’re opening a proper Legoland Theme Park in Nagoya, so it would be cool to go visit again!

  2. Have a great trip! Don’t forget to eat all the flavours of KitKat! 🙂
