Australian LEGO Sales July 2015 – Target Toy Sale Edition

Target has finally unveiled their Toy Sale catalogue, dubbed the “greatest toy sale on Earth” early this morning. If you had signed up for early access to Target’s toy sale catalogue, you would’ve received an email inviting you to preview their catalogue on the site. All you need to do is pop the email address you signed up with and you should be able to access the catalogue.

The microsite doesn’t seem to work well, with plenty of complaints on Target’s Facebook page that people were not able to access the catalogue. I had troubles earlier, but managed to somehow hack my way through and grabbed screenshots of all the relevant LEGO sections.

I have to say that Target’s Toy Sale is a little disappointing, with only 20% off City and Star Wars in addition to several other discounts on selected sets. It’s a far cry from last year’s sale where they had a blanket 20% off all LEGO.

Target’s Toy Sale runs from 17 July (Online) and 22 July (In-Store) to 9 August 2015. It remains to be seen if the UCS Tie Fighter and Tumbler will show up online.

Looking at their big ticket exclusives, Target Australia has the DC Super Heroes Tumbler and Star Wars UCS Tie Fighter as their flagship LEGO sets as well as the return of last year’s Ewok Village. The UCS Tie Fighter is 20% off which is a great price if you’re a UCS Collector or Star Wars fan but the biggest disappointment in the catalogue is the price of The Tumbler – a paltry $299 – just 10% off the RRP of $330.

I think most people were expecting at least 20% off for The Tumbler. 10% isn’t that great, seeing as how it’s about the same as buying it off LEGO.com during a double VIP points promotion. Plus, if you buy from LEGO.com, you could also potentially nab some exclusive polybag or promotion.

Here are the some of the most noteworthy deals in Target’s catalogue. Target has slightly lower (by only a dollar) prices but I’ve benchmarked the RRP against LEGO’s regular RRP.

A bit of a mixed bag here. I really like the prices for Emma’s House, The Brick Bounty, and the Creator Changing Seasons House. Those would be sets I can see myself buying. I won’t get the UCS Tie since it looks a bit bland and the price is quite steep and I’m still on the fence about the Tumbler.
