After work today, I spontaneously decided to check out a nearby Kmart (Rowville) to see if there were specials or clearance deals and I stumbled upon the shelves stocked with the new wave of City, Ninjago, Minecraft and Star Wars sets!
What a treat and surprise! As per the 2nd half of 2015 retail catalogue, the new wave of sets were due in August 2015, so it’s a very encouraging sign that we didn’t have to wait till the end of the month to finally get our hands on new LEGO sets.
There weren’t any pricetags on the shelves, so I had to selectively scan a few sets of interest and I’m pleased to report surprising discounts on some of the sets. Kmart Australia prices their sets slightly below RRP, so I’ve put together a list of some of the big ticket items that I saw this evening.
City Deep Sea theme
- 60095 Deep Sea Exploration Vessel – $125 (RRP $150)
- 60092 Deep Sea Submarine – $35 (RRP $40)
City Space theme
- 60080 Spaceport – $115 (RRP $130)
City
- 60097 City Square – $200 (RRP $250)
Some really cool and shocking bargains here. The City Square is the standout deal as it is at a very respectable 20% off. The Deep Sea Exploration Vessel is another honorable mention, at approximately 16% off the RRP.
Star Wars fans will be delighted to see the new Star Wars sets on sale. I only managed to check the price of two sets as I’m not the biggest Star Wars fan around.
Star Wars August 2015 sets
- 75094 Imperial Shuttle Tydirium – $139 (RRP $140)
- 75093 Death Star Final Duel – $129 (RRP $130)
Just pass on the Star Wars sets from Kmart and probably wait for a 20% off sale from other retailers.
The new spooky Ghost-themed Ninjago sets are also on sale as well, including the new Airjitsu air flyer sets. I also spotted some of the newer Minecraft sets but forgot to take any photos.
LEGO Ninjago August 2015 sets
- 70736 Attack of the Morro Dragon – $95 (RRP $110)
- 70737 Titan Mech Battle – $75 (RRP $90)
- Ninjago Air Flyers – $15 (RRP $16)
LEGO Minecraft August 2015 sets
- 21122 The Nether Fortress – $125 (RRP $130)
- 21120 The Snow Hideout – $55 (RRP $60)
Overall, some really good value with the Ninjago sets, with those two sets I listed coming in at about 15% off RRP.
I picked up one of the mid-sized LEGO Deep Sea sets, so look out for a review once I’ve wrested some free time away from work and my other commitments! Now that these sets are in Kmart, it shouldn’t be long till they start showing up in other stores. Curiously, there were no new Elves or Friends sets.
Are you going to pick up any of the new City, Ninjago, Minecraft or Star Wars sets? Let me know in the comments which ones you’re looking forward to the most!

Looks like we beat you to these sets here in kiwi land. We had these on shelves last week in July. Still no sign of BBT or Dcooby Doo sets here. Or series 14 CMFs. Keep up the awesome blog mate!.

Hi Elliot
I’ve noticed that NZ tends to get sets a lot faster than we do! We don’t have BBT, Scooby Doo or Series 14 either, I think those are due in September, so it’s only a few more weeks to go. Thanks for your support 🙂

I spotted many of the new wave sets at Big W tonight. Of note was the Friends flagship set Heartlake Hotel for $168. (Rrp is $189).
Jay says
Whoa, that’s a pretty good price! I’m keen to get my hands on the hotel as well. Gah, it’s going to be such an expensive month!

EXPENSEEEEEEEEEEEVE MOOOOOOOONTH

September is going to be worse!

A rumour doing the rounds has Big W selling Town Square for $188.00
Jay says
Dang, I’ll have to go check it out today if I manage to find some time
whoisbiggles says
City Square will be off to the lay-by counter asap.
I shall wait for the inevitable discounting on the $28.00 city sets to be discounted to $20.00, particularly like the utility shuttle.
Jay says
Yeah great price! I’ve kind of blew my budget this week with the Big Bang Theory and Scooby Doo sets and I kinda regret not snapping the City Square up. I’m not a fan of the space sets as they look fairly similar to the ones released a few years ago. I will most likely collect all the Deep Sea ones as I have a huge fascination with undersea exploration and marine biology!
whoisbiggles says
I could be tempted to locate 6441 Deep Sea Refuge to fit in with the exploration vessel – however my wallet is struggling as I am also waiting on S14 CMF and hoping the scooby series makes it down under.
I wish I still had my old space shuttle as my 8 & 12 y.o.’s are getting right into Lego, so the utility vessel will be a cheap alt.

I see Mask Maker vs Skull Grinder! Review that, I can help you.
Jay says
Are those Bionicles? I’m not into those 😛

UR WOT NAOW M8 (Sorry, it’s just that I love BIONICLE a lot.)
Jay says
fite me irl! Hahah, no worrie I can totally understand. I just find LEGO sets without bricks a little odd. Same reason why I’m not into Technic.
That said… I quite like the Star Wars figures that will be released soon, I think some of them look great like Darth Vader and General Grievous look awesome. I’ll definitely be picking them up.
starwarsfolder12 (MOBILE) says
And yet that’s the same system, the CCBS system. Though I do indeed own both BIONICLE, Hero Factory and LEGO Star Wars, MARVEL Super Heroes, DC Super Heroes, City, etc.
Jay says
Haha yeah – I guess for robotic-looking characters like Grievous, it tends to look better. The Luke Skywalker one just looks strange.
starwarsfolder12 says
But, seriously, I can help you review BIONICLE. I know a LOT about the new G2 for BIONICLE.
James Miles says
I agree with starwarsfolder12, you should try and review one, Then you will expirienc the Awesomeness
Jay says
Haha, the Star Wars buildable figures will be the closest I ever get 🙂

THEY ARE THE SAME THING, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD! 😛
