New March 2016 LEGO sets starting to show up in Australia

I was at the shops today (I live in Victoria) and was pleasantly surprised to discover that the new March release sets were beginning to show up on the shelves! This is pretty exciting as this is the final wave of LEGO sets from the first half of 2016!

We’re well and truly in 2016 and apart from the new Technic sets which come out in April, Australia finally gets to enjoy all the brand new LEGO sets.

If you follow the Jay’s Brick Blog Facebook page you would’ve already seen photos I posted while I was out today. Go like my page to get quicker updates, photos and random musings that I don’t usually share on the blog!

Here’s some photos of the shelves.

New LEGO Mighty Micros - Kmart

Kmart had the new DC Super Heroes set, 76053 Batman: Gotham City Cycle Chase which features the debut of the Deadshot minifigure and a brand new Harley Quinn tearing up the streets of Gotham for $35.

Curiously, Kmart also has a price tag for the upcoming LEGO Disney Minifigures Series (71012) that’s due on the 1st of May 2016. Seems like Disney Minifigures are all but confirmed now if a retailer already has the details in their database!

New LEGO Marvel Civil War- Kmart

Also spied a new Captain America: Civil War set in Kmart – 76050 Crossbone’s Hazard Heist for $39. Plenty of the new Marvel and DC Mighty Micros, which feature kid-sized version of your favourite superheroes and villains going up against each other. The Mighty Micros cost $17 each, but I didn’t see all the sets there.

New LEGO Elves - Kmart

Good news for Elves and Disney Princess fans as the some of the new sets that feature Dragons are out! Very excited by these, expect some reviews soon! There’s also 41066 Anna & Kristoff’s Sleigh Adventure for $38 which should be popular with Frozen fans.

New LEGO Mixels Series 7 - Kmart

Mixels fans should be pleased as I also saw Series 7 of Mixels, which cost $6 each. Apparently the RRP on LEGO.com has gone up (they’re now listed as AU$7) so it’s nice to know that they’re slightly discounted at Kmart.

New LEGO Minecraft - Kmart

Lastly, new Minecraft was also spotted as well!

New Marvel Civil War Set - Myer

The Myer I went to had a really small number of new sets out, I only saw 76049 Avenjet Space Mission and 76047 Black Panther Pursuit from Civil War. I’m really excited about the Black Panther set but was kind of taken aback by the price – $50! I might just wait for a sale before I pull the trigger on this.

According to reader Bondsguy, some new March 2016 sets were also spotted at Target. If you’re keen on picking up some new LEGO sets, it would be worth your while checking your local to store tomorrow!

No sightings of the large Civil War set, 76051 Super Hero Airport Battle which features the new brick-built Giant-Man. That set is super hot on my priority list and I can’t wait to review it for you guys.

Overall, I’m very pleased that we’re getting the March release on a timely basis! Seems to be about the same time as the US, which is great as it means we’re not stuck waiting on sets while we stare jealously at the hauls of our American friends. Well done, LEGO Australia!

Let me know in the comments if you spot any other sets out in the wild or if you picked up any during your weekend shopping run!

I heard a rumor today that 76051 Super Hero Airport Battle has been delayed indefinitely in Australia.
This was from salesperson at Myer Brisbane City.

I have no idea if this is real or not but if so I will be bitterly disappointed.

    • Jay says:

The rumour is false! It’s been spotted in Myer in Victoria and apparently, should start showing up in stores in the coming few days.

      Definitely not delayed!

      • Shannon says:

        Excellent news.

The salesperson was adamant that we wouldn’t be seeing it for a while so I am glad to hear it has been spotted in the wild.

        • Jay says:

Yup! I’m Rick James Bricks in Victoria already has them in stock. Not long now before the other retailers start unpacking their stock. The rest of the Elves theme is also out!

  2. Ninja says:

New BIONICLE sets out yet? They have a March release as well, but didn’t see them in your pics?
Ebay has a few listings for the new sets uploaded today so maybe thats a good sign!

  3. Jaclyn Ngan says:

Now I’m curious if the Black Panther Pursuit set is already available here…

  4. Matt Merrill says:

I don’t know why, but the DC lego sets get me a lot more excited these days than the Marvel sets do. I used to offer Marvel as a youth, but I’ve come to love DC properties a lot more as I’ve grown. They definitely make more colorful fun sets if you ask me.

    • Jay says:

Yeah, the upcoming wave of DC sets are just spectacular. I’ve always been a DC fan and I’m glad that they’ve finally clued in to the fact that they don’t need to force Batman into every set to make it work. That said, the Civil War sets looks excellent as well. All in all, good times to be a Super Heroes LEGO fan whichever you prefer!

  5. Give. Just give me them all.

    Must go shopping in March.

MUST. (Also, got the Joker and Harley Team pack, and even pre-ordered the Stay Puft and Aqauman fun packs! Never pre-ordered anything before, so that’s cool! Thanks go to my Dad.)

    • Wait… Disney minifigs confirmed!? That’s like when the Walmart near the mall put the price tags for the TFA Force Friday sets!

      Excuse me for one minute.

      YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA *inhale* AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!

      Okay, I’m good.

    • Jay says:

Oh that’s right! Stay Puft is coming out soon! Thanks for the reminder, definitely gonna pick that up!

  6. Warmongurl says:

Sweet news! High on my list for the March wave is Obi Wan’s Jedi Interceptor. I’m also excited about the new Ninjago Sky Pirates line of sets, though I’ll probably pick one of them up from the Lego Store so I can get the free US offering of Kai’s Mini Dragon (coming in March).

Does Australia have a version of Amazon? Amazon is an excellent source for legos in the US, as older sets, excepting US, always get discounted at some point.

    • Jay says:

I might pick up Obi Wan’s Interceptor too! Looks like a really tight build and he’s my favourite Star Wars character. Makes me wish I’d bought Anakin’s Interceptor too when it was out so Obi Wan could have a companion.

Unfortunately, we don’t have Amazon. The state of online shopping in Australia is… backwards to say the least. I guess it’s a result of us being so far away from the rest of the world. A long, long time ago, we used to be able to buy from Amazon but they’ve since blocked most LEGO sales here.

      • Mark says:

I remember the good Ol’ days when the Aussie dollar was at/or above parity with US and we could order Lego from Amazon US and get surprisingly cheap shipping rates on huge sets. And by good Ol’ days I mean less than 2 years ago! Now I’m sad.
