I know I say this almost every month, but I can’t believe it’s April! 2016 is moving way too quickly.
April 2016 brings about some really fantastic LEGO sales, as the retailers vie for your heard earned dollars. Apologies if this is kind of late but I’ve been moving house all weekend and have been pretty occupied with moving my entire LEGO collection! Check out the end of a post for a bonus peek at my current situation!
Toys R Us (Catalogue link 20 April – 10 May)
Toys R Us Australia’s latest catalogue has a pretty decent offer – Buy 1 Get 50% off on selected LEGO themes. The range on sale in quite extensive, covering Ninjago, City, Super Heroes, Nexo Knights, Disney Princesses, Duplo, Juniors, Friends and Elves. Pretty much every theme is here except for Creator, Angry Birds, Star Wars and Technic.
You can mix and match the sets, so try and clump up sets of similar prices for excellent savings. Toys R Us has a pretty large catalogue of retailer exclusive sets and they have a decent online shopping experience with okay-ish shipping costs.
TRU Exclusives:
- 70756 Ninjago Dojo Showdown – $40
- 41109 Friends Heartlake Airport – $130
- 60096 City Deep Sea Operation Base – $140
- 60012 City Fire Engine – $70
- 41057 Friends Heartlake Horse Show $60
- 70325 Nexo Knights Infernox Captures the Queen $50
Myer (till Monday 25 April)
Myer has a much simpler 20% off all LEGO sale, which ends on Anzac Day, 25 April 2016. Nothing too spectacular but if you’re after a non-complicated LEGO sale, 20% off sales are always very welcome.
Be sure to check your local Myer’s trading hours if you’re planning on shopping on Monday.
Target (Catalogue link 31 March – 17 April)
Target Australia has gone absolutely bonker with their April 2016 LEGO sale. Not only do they have selected sets on sale in their catalogue, they’re also offering a Buy 1 Get 1 50% off deal on ALL toys. And yes, in case you were wondering, this also includes discounted sets in the catalogue.
But 1 Get 50% sales are already pretty good on their own – translating to 25% off sets if you manage to pair similarly-priced items but combined with the selected sets on sale in the catalogue, the savings are insane.
The highlights during the sale include:
- 2x 60130 Prison Island sets for $150, which translates to $75-each (50% off the RRP of $150 each)
- 2x 41175 Fire Dragon’s Lava Cave or 70315 Clay’s Rumble Blade for $73.50 which translates to $36.75 each (38.75% off the RRP of $60 each)
- 2x 41135 Livi’s Pop Star House sets for $103.50 which translates to $51.75 each (35% off the RRP of $80 each)
The best part is that you can mix and match sets across themes, and if you’re looking to buy other toy brands, it all works together as well. Pretty decent. I am eyeing the Elves Fire Dragon Lava Cave and Clay Rumble Blade combo. The City Prison Island set is also amazing value though it’s out of stock online. Check your local Target as they should have plenty in-store.
Another good pickup would be the Mighty Micros sets which come up to $25.50 for 2 ($12.75 each), meaning that the whole set of DC and Marvel Mighty Micros will only set you back $76.50.
I have to say that this is one of the best LEGO sales I’ve ever seen in the past few years. Oh and I also forgot to mention that if the new Angry Birds sets start showing up at Target, they’d fall under this sale too, so it’s a great time to pick some up.
Big W (Catalogue link 31 March – 13 April)
Big W have a decent-ish sale that’s focused mostly on LEGO Super Heroes and some Elves/Disney Princess/Friends sets thrown in. Great time to pick up some Super Heroes sets as they’re mostly over 20% off, which is the threshold for a good LEGO sale.
If you’re considering any of the Super Heroes sets, be sure to check out my reviews here to get a feel of the sets before you pull the trigger:
- 76044 Clash of the Heroes
- 76045 Kryptonite Interception
- 76047 Black Panther Pursuit
- Marvel Mighty Micros
Here are the highlights
Format: $sale price | $RRP (percentage discount)
- 76044 Clash of the Heroes – $15 | $20 (25%)
- 76045 Kryptonite Interception – $38 | $50 (24%)
- 76046 Heroes of Justice: Sky High Battle – $75 | $100 (25%)

- 41172 The Water Dragon Adventure – $24 | $30 (20%)
- 41173 Elvendale School of Dragons – $24 | $30 (20%)
LEGO.com (1-30 April)
Not a sale per se, but this month’s LEGO.com offer is a free Classic TV Series Mr Freeze polybag for all purchases over AU$100. Great time to pick this up if you’ve got the Batman Classic TV Series Batcave!
The LEGO Ideas Maze has also gone on sale for AU$99.99. Read my review to see what I thought of it and watch the Maze in action!
Myer (Catalogue link 23 March – 17 April) (Catalogue link 23 March – 25 April)
I covered this in last month’s sale post, but don’t forget that Myer has two concurrent catalogues running with flat 20% off selected themes and some Batman v Superman sets.
In case you’re confused:
- 23 March – 17 April (20% off LEGO Star Wars, City, Friends, Duplo)
- 23 March – 25 April (20% off LEGO City & Nexo Knights)
That’s it for now, watch this space any more sales and thanks to everyone who emailed in with tip offs!

Not for nothing, but as I see Infernox Captures the Queen Nexo set has come up on Toys R Us’ website with their buy 1 get 1 half sale
Jay says
Ah nice! Thanks for the heads up. I might pick it up there!
Warmongurl says
I wish sales translated between continents! “Clay’s Rumble Blade” is the Nexo Knights set I’m most interested in, but sigh, U.S. target isn’t offering fabulous Lego sales at the moment.
Jay says
Ah but you guys have Walmart with the legendary clearance deals! Also, Amazon tends to have great prices too!

I picked up the Elves Fire Dragon Lava cave for my daughter from Target along with a Duplo set for the younger one. I must say I’m impressed with the (quite large) dragon. Colours are great and the articulation makes for some nice poses. My daughter especially loves the semi transparent wings (me too!). Very ‘swooshable’ too . At the discounted price it’s a steal, particularly for a new set. I like that there is a hint of darker things to come in the Lego Elves universe with the green crystal tainted water.
Jay says
Nice! Mine is on the way – just waiting on a Click and Collect notification. Glad to hear that you and your daughter loves the dragon – I can’t wait to get into the new Elves sets.
Have you seen the upcoming Elves sets? The Shadow Magic Castle looks exceptional and one of my most anticipated sets!
Mark says
Oooh. No I hadn’t seen it Jay. It looks fantastic and so do the minidolls. I’m not sure about those pink rock pieces though. The Elves line has introduced so many awesome new elements and colours. Most of the time they seem to get it right but sometimes some colour combos can be a little jarring IMO. It’s good to see they are starting to balance the ‘light’ side of Elvendale the with a ‘darker’ side. Every good story/play needs a protagonist!
Jay says
I think apart from Ninjago, no other new theme has had so much love and care placed on the overall aesthetics of a theme. I also like that they’ve incorporated the dragons into this wave. Here’s hoping for some “evil” dragons next!
LegofanBlue says
I’ll pick up the Batman and Flash Mighty Micros while their cheap, and I bought a few things on line to get the Classic Mr Freeze but the Classic Batcave costs a bit to much (If you see it on sale in Australia make a post about it). Keep up the good work! Btw I was wondering what happened to the March Minifig pak?
Jay says
Nice! There are plenty of rumours swirling over who will get the set – my money is on Target. I’ll definitely make a post about it, so keep an eye out for it!
Ah, I haven’t had time to check out the March Minifigpak as I’ve got a huge queue of posts scheduled, so I might skip out on featuring it.
