Second Half 2016 LEGO Catalogue (June – December)

LEGO 2HY 2016 Calendar - Cover

I was poking around the LEGO 3D Catalogue app on my phone when I stumbled upon the new second half of 2016 LEGO calendar! The 2HY 2016 calendar covers most of the new retail sets that are due to go on sale from June to December 2016.

The only country where I could access this new calendar was Singapore (English) and Hong Kong (Chinese). LEGO’s developers will probably roll out the updated calendar to other countries in due time. If you want to check the calendar out for yourself, you can currently view the new LEGO Brand catalogue via the LEGO 3D Catalogue app on your smart device: iOS Android

Unfortunately, I couldn’t find the PDF link to the catalogue, which I’m sure will turn up soon enough. In the mean time, I’ve taken screenshots of all the new sets featured in the catalogue.

Update: The Australian retail calendar is out! Check it out here or you can also download the PDF version.

UPDATE: Thanks to Ray, here’s a list of accessible PDF versions of European catalogs:

For my Australian readers, I’ve also added in the retail release dates for these new sets based on what I know. Most of these sets are currently available for order on LEGO.com, but if you want to wait till they show up on toy shelves, they’ll only be released in August 2016. Ages away!

The Australian LEGO catalogue isn’t out (which normally contains the Aussie release dates) but I’m Rick James Bricks has indicated on his website that new LEGO City, Friends, Elves, Disney Princess, Marvel, DC, Ninjago and Star Wars will all be out sometime in August.

You can read an open letter I wrote to LEGO Australia here expressing my incredulity that you can buy these sets online but we have to wait almost 3 months for them to show up at retail.

This guide should help you make some key purchasing decisions and plan out your purchases for the next few months. There’s always the temptation to buy and enjoy the sets early from LEGO.com at full price rather than wait for them to get to retail where they will inevitably be discounted.

Unfortunately, there aren’t any new Rogue One sets being teased – I guess we just have to wait for the big reveal by LEGO and Disney.

Update: Special thanks to Ray for flagging the European catalogs. There’s a small Rogue One teaser page, with the release date being set in September 2016!

There aren’t any HUGE reveals in this catalogue. The most notable ones would be the first proper look at Mixels Series 9 and a solid release date for LEGO Minifigures Series 16. There are also some additional photos of the new Technic sets that are due to come out later this year.

It’s important to note that all the sets in the catalogue are generic retail sets, which means you should be able to find them every where. There are some omissions from the retail catalogue, mostly for retailer exclusives or large Direct to Consumer (D2C) sets like Creator Expert. I’ve added a small bit under each section for retailer exclusives that I’ve identified.

Do also note that the screenshots in this post are from the Singaporean catalogue – other territories might have other pages, so watch this space and I’ll update this as soon as more catalogues get released!

Anyway, here’s the release schedule for all the sets and themes that are coming our way in the second half of 2016! You can click on each theme here and it will send you straight to their respective sections along with details on set pricing, release dates and LEGO.com links if you’re keen on purchasing them straight away.

That’s all the new 2HY sets and their Australian an American retail release dates!

Personally, I’m excited about new LEGO Elves, DC and Marvel super heroes. I’m still on the fence about the new City Volcano sets, although I like the more civilian builds such as the Octan Service Station.

The new Ninjago and Nexo Knights also look like a lot of fun and I look forward to picking them up when they inevitably get discounted. Not a fan of any of the new Star Wars sets, except maybe the new Resistance X-Wing. They all seem WAY too pricey this year, and there’s nothing that really stands out. Maybe when the Rogue One sets get announced, I’ll change my mind.

So what do you think of the 2HY 2016 lineup of sets? Let me know what your most anticipated sets or themes are for the rest of the year!

Do you know what is going to happen in the new Lego ninjago series and why all the skeletons anacondrai and nindroids and stone warriors are back ?

    • Jay says:

I don’t really follow the cartoon but it looks like something happened and all the old Villains have returned. From what I read, it looks like hey were all stored in prison and have somehow broken out. I’m really excited to see the Anacondrai back!

  2. Graham says:

Wow, Series 16 nearly out, and I still haven’t seen a trace of Disney Figs in any store in Sydney 🙁
Has anyone seen these in the wild?

    • Shazli Hassan says:

      Hello Graham,

I have been find the Disney Figs in the Toy aisle of my local Woolworths. I about six woolworths around me and 4 of them have it.

      Hope this helps

    • Jay says:

They seem to be sold out everywhere. I did see a box of them at my local Woolworths. Have you tried checking Coles or Woolworths?

      • Graham says:

I checked the local 2 wollies, and I’ve checked Big W and Myer every time I walk past. Most places still have Series 15, or *gasp* Simpsons Series 2!

I’ll just keep my eye out. It’ll have to happen eventually.

Good to know that some stores are putting them out at lest. I’ll keep trying.

  3. Brad says:

I can’t see 70588 Titanium Ninja Tumbler, 75150 Darth Vader’s Tie Advanced and A-Wing Fighter or 75157 Captain Rex’s AT-TE Walker in the Australian catalogue. Can you double check if they are exclusives or not?

    • Jay says:

If it’s not in the retail catalogue, they most definitely are exclusives. Most probably Toys R Us exclusives from the looks of things.

      • William says:

I saw rebels combat frigate on toysrus website but still no 75150 and 75157, I think similar thing happened to kanan’s speeder earlier this year, can’t find it anywhere.

        • Jay says:

Ah, thanks for the heads up! I’ve updated the post with the Rebel Combat Frigate. 75150 is definitely a retailer exclusive – just don’t know who has it at this point. I’m guessing it’s going to come down between Kmart or Target.

  4. Rui says:

SV is for Sweden, not Slovakia.

  5. Jen says:

Awesome site Jay. Love your reviews, especially the minifigures and how to feel for them. We have an extensive Duplo collection but my eldest (almost 4 years old) is now starting to get into Lego. Yay! We’ve started with the minifigures and I’ve been able to get all the ones we’ve wanted from Series 14, 15 and 16 thanks to your tips.

I’ve bought up lots of the Lego Juniors and some Lego City in the sales for presents for him. Have my eye on some of the larger sets (Fire Station & Police Station) but need to wait to see if his love for Lego matches mine. Given these sets are featured in the Australian catalogue, does that mean they are unlikely to retire this year?

On the fence about whether to get into the Mixels. Series 8 would appeal to him. Good price but trying to decide if it’s better to put the money towards bigger sets. Are the parts very useful for building other things?

    • Jay says:

Thanks Jen! Glad I could help with the minifigs!

Those sets probably won’t retire this year so you have plenty of time at least till Christmas. Mixels are great! I love them as they’re quite affordable and you are encouraged to tear them apart and make your own monsters/creations. They have very useful parts, lots of ball joints which are quite useful. Not so much for buildings, but if you enjoy creating animals, or humanoid builds, they’re quite useful!

  6. Steve says:

I’m hoping the Tanker Truck Takedown isn’t too hard to find. Also hanging out for the Rogue one sets, from what I’ve seen so far they pretty cool.

  7. Kevin says:

I found some series 9 Mixels teasers in recent Toys r us catalogues. Also if you find series 8 on their online shop, they use series 9 in the pic.

  8. Warmongurl says:

I’m happy to see that the new minifigure series is coming out in September! I just got into collecting the Series minifigures this year, but am having fun picking up the ones I can find (found Series 13 & 14 still on the shelves, of course 15). Busy trying to track down all the Disney figs I want – those guys are hard to find!

    • Jay says:

Oh nice! Thanks for the heads up. Had a flip through them and there was nothing particularly new other than the Rogue One teaser. Still, good to have a release date, though!

  9. Nathan says:

The ios android 3d lego catalogue does not appear to be avaulable in australia.

    • Jay says:

That’s odd. Try searching the app store for the “LEGO 3D catalogue”. I used it on both my iPad and Android device without any issue.

  10. Jen says:

Interestingly Myer had a stack of LEGO catalogues sitting on the shelves on Day 1 of their toy sale…The catalogues for the first half of the year.

    • Jay says:

Ah that kinda makes sense since all those sets are currently out on the floor. I do wish the newer catalogues would be released a lot quicker. They make for good marketing. When I was younger, I used to spend so much time flipping through these catalogues!

  11. Kay says:

Thanks Jay for the latest retail updates! Always so informative. Looks like this seals the fate of temple of airjitzu as not coming to retail. When do you think this set will retire? It came out in Sept 2015. I hope it’s a two year cycle so that I don’t have to buy it this year. Have spent too much already.

    • Jay says:

Hey Kay. I wouldn’t count the Temple out just yet as exclusives typically don’t feature in the retail catalogue.

I think the set has another year left in its lifespan, so no rush. Perhaps wait till the next double VIP points?

  12. The Mountebank says:

Why does the minifigures page say “Lego Bionicle – Minifigures”? Is it across from a page about Bionicle, or are they making Bionicle themed minifigs?

  13. Michael says:

Thanks Jay – once again, you’re doing the hard work!

I received my Spiderman Bridge Battle last Friday – it’s awesome! Cool minis, but the bridge is great to display, with heaps of play features too. It currently has every Marvel hero I own on it.

    • Jay says:

You’re welcome! Ah so jealous! I couldn’t bring myself to order it at full price, so I decided to wait it out till it gets here in August! Glad to hear that it’s an amazing set. It definitely looks like it’s well on its way to become one of the best sets this year.

Can’t wait to check it out myself!

  14. Ken says:

Any idea which retailer will get the 76067 Tanker Truck Takedown?

Kmart seems to have 76056 Batman Rescue from Ra’s Al Ghul. I was able to order it from their website and it shipped today.
