Brickvention is one of my favourite LEGO events of the year and it’s this weekend! Australia’s greatest and biggest LEGO fan convention is an event I look forward to every year.
If you’re unaware of Brickvention, it’s a massive LEGO public exhibition and convention, bringing together some of the country’s most talented LEGO builders and designers.
You can expect to see massive displays and dioramas, sculptures and even art, all brought together by Australia’s fantastic LEGO fan community.
This year, Brickvention’s public exhibition will be held on 14 & 15 January at the Royal Exhibition Building, located in the Carlton Gardens.
If you live in Victoria and love LEGO, I would absolutely recommend taking some time out of your weekend to visit as it never fails to disappoint every year.
Timed-entry tickets will cost $18 for adults, $9 for kids (4 – 14 years) and kids 3 years and under enter for free. This year, there is also a 2-day pass which gives you unlimited access to the exhibition throughout the entire weekend. The 2-day pass will cost adults $42 and $21 for kids.
You can purchase tickets on Brickvention’s website here. Tickets are selling fast, so don’t miss out!
This year, Brickvention will also play host to JK Brickworks, the dynamic duo that were responsible for the LEGO Ideas Maze and all sorts of cool mechanical LEGO contraptions such as the Clockwork Heart below.
They’ll be here all weekend to chat about their creations, and I’m really excited to meet them.
Be sure to also check out some of my photos from Brickvention 2016, 2015 and 2014 to get a better idea of what to expect.
I’ll be there on Friday, for the convention day as I can’t make it during the weekend. If you’re going on Friday as well, let me know and be sure to say hi!

In Sydney, so No. I am however wondering whether it’s worth taking the little ones to Brickman Wonders of the World.

If you haven’t gone for a LEGO exhibition, I’d say the Brickman show is worth going. Tickets are a little dear, but the models that he puts together are absolutely fantastic, especially for kids.

Yes, we’ll be there again with a DUPLO display. Looking forward to an exciting weekend!

Oh! The dinosaur one from last year was one of my favourite displays! I can’t wait to see what you guys do this year! I have a newfound appreciation for Duplo thanks to my kid. The Whale from 2016 is just brilliant!

Aw man… I can’t go, cuz I live in Hong Kong… Jay, can you make a blog for this event, so I can still see what’s in it?
Jay says
I’ll definitely be doing a write-up with plenty of photos! And maybe a few interviews too!
Ian Hazlehurst says
Sorry, cant make it, well its on the opposite of the planet to where I am. But I did go to ‘Brick Live’ in Birmingham (UK) last year & it was great. Hope you have fun too.
Jay says
Oh, I’ve heard plenty of awesome stuff about the UK LEGO shows! The fan community there is on a whole other level!
