Marketwatch has lifted the curtain off a new LEGO Batman Movie set – the aptly named, 70917 The Ultimate Batmobile.
70917 will be priced at US$129.99 and has a release date of 1 June 2017, when the second wave of LEGO Batman sets goes on sale.
This gargantuan Batmobile certainly looks like its worthy of its “Ultimate” title. It looks to be a sick mashup of several Batvehicles, and can divide itself into four vehicles – the Batmobile, Batwing, Bat-Tank and Batcycle.
The set also includes a respectable cast of 8 minifigures including Batman, Robin, Batgirl, Polka-Dot Man on a flying disc, Alfred Pennyworth (in Batsuit), Wicked Witch of the West and two Flying Monkeys.
I’m really excited about this set and it looks just looks massive. It’s creative and I can’t wait to see how it separates itself. Also equally as hyped for Polka Dot Man and the Flying Monkeys.
Well it has happened. As the LEGO Batman Movie premiered across the world this week, it made sense for LEGO to reveal this on opening weekend. This was kept fairly under wraps.. so I guess this is a spoiler for all of us here in Australia and New Zealand? #SameBatTimeAusNZ
I mean… it would’ve been great to have been able to see this on-screen for the first time, rather than a rather low-res photo from Marketwatch. Thanks Village Roadshow.
Anyway, this set looks amazing and the pricepoint is actually pretty decent! This is instantly going on my must-buy list for the LEGO Batman Movie. Let me know what you think of this set in the comments!

Hi would like to purchase t Lego 70917
Jay says
Hi Peter, unfortunately the only way to get it now is online via LEGO.com: https://shop.lego.com/en-AU/The-Ultimate-Batmobile-70917
The set will be arriving in-stores in July, so it’s not too far off!
JC says
Is Arkham Asylum being released in any Australian stores?
Jay says
Yup! It’ll be a Toys R Us Exclusive and will be released late Feb/early March!
Kathleen Soper says
Very excited for this to release! Even more than my sons lol 🙂 I like the look of the flying monkeys.
Jay says
Haha! Your son is lucky to have a mum like you! Agreed – those flying monkeys are really cool, especially if you’re a fan of the Wizard of Oz!
Warmongurl says
I love it! The double cockpits remind me of an old school space set – say M-Tron or Blacktron. The Oz characters are an unexpected but welcome bonus!
Jay says
It also looks like it was inspired by Spaceship, Spaceship, SPACESHIP!!!
JACKATTACKS says
The front looks pretty cool. The back is a little overcrowded for my liking, although I do like how they include a light brick in the bat signal.
Jay says
Is this the first light brick bat signal? Quite keen on seeing how it works!
Gerard says
This set looks really good, and I’m excited to see what the transformation/separation feature is going to be like. How much do you think this will cost here, Jay?
Jay says
Yeah, can’t wait to see it being sit up. Kinda reminds me a lot of Spaceship, Spaceship, SPACESHIP!
I suspect it’ll retail between AU$200-$230 since the closest-priced set is Arkham Asylum which goes for $250
Michael says
Instabuy for me, but yeah, go bite me Village Roadshow.
I loved the Batcave set, and it’ll be the scuttler next. Also looking to extend the Batcave out to a full circle/hexagon.
Jay says
I plan to build the Batcave next!
Mark says
It looks suita-bat-ly over the top. That’s some pretty major spoilerage though ?. Village Roadshow should be renamed Village Idiots ?. I didn’t know there would be cross-over with Oz characters for example. Also looks like he may have taken some inspiration from Benny, especially with those double trans-yellow canopies.
Jay says
I’ve been mentally prepared for spoilers… So hey, I’m pretty desensitized at this point!
Ben Teoh actually pointed out that it looked like The Homer and now I can’t unsee that any more! The Batmobile also had those trans canopies – love that they’re making a resurgence in the movie!
Bruno says
Why did you have to point that out. I cant unsee it.
Jay says
😛
