[US-only] 70751 Ninjago Temple of Airjitzu on sale on LEGO.com

I usually don’t do posts like these, but this deal is too good to pass up for my American readers. The LEGO Ninjago Temple of Airjitzu is currently on sale on LEGO.com for US$159.99, down from the usual price of US$199.99 – which works out to a discount of about 20%.

D2C sets like the Temple of Airjitzu rarely go on sale, and you’ll also be able to score VIP points with this purchase as well as the Disco Batman/Tears of Batman promotional polybag.  There are a couple of other sets on sale as well, but nothing as notable as the Temple.

Unfortunately this deal is US-only, which is always a bit of a bummer for Australia since we don’t really get Sales & Deals outside of that one time Dimensions sale.

If you’re in Australia and feel left out, there’s a bit of a silver lining. The Temple of Airjitzu is slated to arrive in Australian stores as part of a general release in April, so you should be able to get it at a discount when it lands and retailers run one of their usual LEGO sales.

This combination of the US discounting this set online and the set finally making it to Australia smells like LEGO is planning to retire this set soon, and are currently trying to clear out their inventory.

This is just a hunch, but with The LEGO Ninjago Movie set to make a big splash in the second half of the year, I can definitely see LEGO ensuring that the new sets receive the lion’s share of focus without this gorgeous set distracting us.

This is one of those rare times when I wish I lived in the US to take advantage of this great deal.

Building mine now. It’s a truely beautiful set to behold. If I get a chance I’ll be getting a couple at retail if it gets the 20% sale treatment. If funds are available I’d consider getting more just to build a large Ninjago city.

Finally pulled the trigger on this set with the 20% off. I’ve loved this set since before it was released, probably, but the cost combined with our limited display space helped me resist until now.
It’s a beautiful set with plenty of Minifigures (although I don’t need another 6 ninjas). I have a hunch it’s bound for retirement (in the U.S., anyway) and with the upcoming release of the LEGO Ninjago movie (and CMF series), I’m sure to acquire more Ninjago sets in the next year or so. I’m generally not into Ninjago, but with this set, now we have a setting to plug in future (smaller) Ninjago sets and figures in our LEGO town.

Nice one! I have the exact same hunch too, but on the flipside, I’d love to see LEGO keep this, what with all the new fans who will be exposed to the Ninjago theme through the movie.

Wow! This set looks really nice! I love the layout as it seems to blend really well. Tons of sought after lego elements. I’m not really big on Ninjago but I might have to take advantage of this sale for the beauty of the structure. It’s not often LEGO releases sets that flow into itself like this. Usually we see 3 stand alone structures. I really dig it. It’s very ” zen ” ?

Yeah, that’s what’s really great about this set. Other than the characters and a few tiles/items, there’s not much that ties it into the universe. It’s LEGO just using the Ninjago theme to create a massive Japanese temple and village, which is what I love about it.

Tempting! May purchase it as investment.

Is there any chance Lego Australia might follow suit? I’ve been wanting this set since it came out but can’t justify it all full rrp. Maybe you can make the suggestion Jay…as a Lego ambassador ?

Ah, I use a theme called “Foodie!”. I just like how clean it is. I just checked out yours, great site! Really like your theme and all the white space!

It’s actually on sale in Canada also, but I’m having trouble convincing my parents that it is a good way to spend $184.

Its on sale in Canada as well. My local Lego store has a few instock. Its $183.99 CND.
My kids dont have any Ninjago Lego but suspecting they might want some when the new movie comes out. Debating buying one. Its alot of money even on sale has anyone seen it in person? Is it worth the money?

I’ve got one, and think it’s a very impressive set on display, and the shadow theatre is a nice touch too. One of my favourite display sets.

    • Jay says:

Oh that sounds like a great price too! Makes it even cheaper when you compare it against the US price.

From what I’ve heard, it’s a really great set. The buildings are all well designed with all the Japanese design influences. Even though it’s a Ninjago set, other than the minifigures, there’s not much that references the series.
