UPDATE: If you want to see more of this set, do check out my review of 76075 Wonder Woman Warrior Battle!
Not an April’s Fool joke. That’s coming later today.
I’m pretty mad with this and I wish I haven’t seen it. If you want to keep yourself as spoiler-free as possible for the Wonder Woman movie… please look away right now.
Entertainment Weekly has given us our first look at 76075 Wonder Woman Warrior Battle, a 286-piece set that has a release date of 1 May 2017, a month before the heavily anticipated Wonder Woman movie opens up in cinemas in June.
The set contains a HUGE (literally too) spoiler in the form of Ares, the mysterious villain from the movie. This is a massive spoiler because this is the first glimpse of Ares from the movie.
In a very un-DC and un-Warner Bros move, the trailers (even the most recent one) have been really good in keeping the plot and villain under wraps.
Thanks to LEGO and Entertainment Weekly, we now know what Ares looks like – pretty effing awesome, but I wish that I didn’t find out through a LEGO set!
That said, Wonder Woman Warrior Battle looks phenomenal and is an insta-purchase for me. It comes with all the major characters, which include a new Wonder Woman variant, Steve Trevor, who is played by Chris Pine and the aforementioned Ares who features as a BigFig ala Giant-Man.
Ares is the obvious highlight of the set, and the BigFig aesthetic looks absolutely fantastic and works very well in this case. The set also includes a small World War 1 plane piloted by Steve.
No news on pricing yet, but I expect this set to cost AU$59.99/US$29.99. Can’t wait!
Are you excited for this set and the Wonder Woman movie?
Jeb says
Hmm… Not much of a Wonder Woman fan, but might buy this set.
Jay says
It’s got so much value, and Ares just look utterly bad-ass!
Tovenaar says
This looks really cool, but is a bold move
Jay says
Yup, definitely one of the cooler sets revealed so far this year!
Warmongurl says
I’m so excited for this set!!!!! This looks like the same Wonder Woman minifig as from “Heroes of Justice Sky High Battle” and while I really wanted the minifig, I didn’t care for that set. And now this awesome version of Wonder Woman is in a set of which I love every bit! She’s complete with sword & shield, the Ares big fig is really well-designed, and even the plane is cool! 🙂
Jay says
Yup, love her kickass shield and slightly updated costume. It’s also a cheap way to get Wonder Woman, which is great for fans! I love the WW1 plane, it’s just so classic and Ares looks incredible. Going to have so much fun displaying this set.
WeebDesu says
We already knew Ares was in the movie. They revealed an action figure back at Toy Fair.
Jay says
Yeah but what they didn’t reveal was that he was going to have a giant form, which imho, was the bigger spoiler.
VaderFan2187 says
Great set. The price is pretty good, nice way to get a big minifigure (sounds so weird).
I kinda want to get this when it comes out… more of a Marvel guy but this looks better than Beware the Vulture…
Can’t wait for April Fools Joke!
Jay says
Yes please! 3 main characters in one set is an easy sell and Wonder Woman looks awesome as always.
Agent 86 says
I’ll be buying this! The alternate “cloaked” look for Wonder Woman is a nice touch (although her cloak looks black, not blue in all images / shots revealed to date).
As for this set being a *spoiler*, well … Mattel beat Lego to the punch when it revealed Ares in the form of a 10″ action figure at New York Toy Fair in February. The majority of “comic book” related websites then reported on the news of Ares’ presumed role as the central villain.
So, I’m guessing Lego (and DC) considered that the cat was already out of the bag.
Jay says
Yeah, I was aware of Ares being a villain, but I think the key spoiler here is that he turns HUGE ala Giant-Man. Anyway, Ares was news to me, I don’t frequent comic book sites so this was the first time I’ve actually seen his look!
Sgoteam says
OMG Ares!!! I’m so hyped for this set!
Ps I think Ares and Giant-Man are GiantFigs, because BigFigs are those like Hulk or Killer Croc
VaderFan2187 says
Yeah Hulk is a bigfig, Ares isn’t. I guess he’s a bigminifigure :p
Sgoteam says
I just call them GiantFigs
Jay says
Hmm, what if we call them MegaFigs?
Michael says
Too close to that OTHER brand. You know the one!
Jay says
Haha! Let’s not utter its name here 😛
Michael says
It’s the Civil War airport battle all over again! That said, I love the set – I love that we’re getting a little WW1 plane, and I’m looking forward to getting WWs shield in a set that doesn’t have the awful Bat-plane.
Jay says
YUP. It’s really weird that LEGO sets are spoiling key plot points so early on!
I love the set too and it will be an EASY pickup.
