More photos of LEGO Minifigures Series 17 revealed!

Thanks to Robert8 on Eurobricks, we now have a much better look at the upcoming LEGO Minifigures Series 17. Series 17 takes us back to the classic configuration of 16 unique characters to collect!

Update: To see more photos of Series 17 minifigs and read my thoughts on them, be sure to check out my review!

Series 17 goes on sale worldwide on 1 May 2017, and will be available at most toy stores that stock LEGO. You can also buy them on LEGO.com via these links below. The price of each Series 17 blind bag has stayed the same as the LEGO Batman Movie series.

We also have the official names of the characters:

Update: Thanks to Brickset, we now have the box breakdown of LEGO Minifigures Series 17! The distribution ratio is pretty decent, with the expected 3 complete sets per box.

  • Secret Character (Highwayman) x 5
  • Corn Cob Guy x 5
  • Circus Strong Man x 5
  • Hot Dog Man x 4
  • Retro Spaceman x 4
  • Roman Gladiator x 4
  • Connoisseur x 4
  • Yuppie x 4
  • Battle Dwarf x 4
  • Elf Girl x 3
  • Butterfly Girl x 3
  • Veterinarian x 3
  • Dance Instructor x 3
  • Gourmet Chef x 3
  • Rocket Boy x 3
  • Professional Surfer x 3

The ratio of minifigures are great, and fans of Costumed Minifigures will no doubt be very happy with the 5 Corn Cob Guys per box. I can definitely see Rocket Boy and Butterfly Girl as well Corn Cob Guy being the most coveted minifigures of the series!

Complete box of LEGO Series 17

Curiously enough, LEGO are still keeping the identity of one of the characters, who many speculate to be a Highwayman a secret! It’s certainly an interesting strategy by LEGO, but if you look at the silhouette above, it’s quite clear that he comes with a tricorn hat, a cape and two flintlock pistols. Or it could be a she!

The photos above also give us a bit of a better view of the accessories included. Kinda disappointing that the Gladiator (who is based on a Retarius) doesn’t come with a net.

You can also see a lot more printing detail such as the Sausage Man’s (weird name) printed legs, and a closer look at the accessories such as his tray, as well as Rocket Boy’s uber cool Rocket Suit.

LEGO Minifigures Series 17 is set for 1 May 2017 release date. I absolutely cannot wait for this Series as it looks to be yet another solid addition to the LEGO Minifigures theme, if not the best one yet.

Can’t wait to get my hands on these! I hope you guys are as excited for them as I am!

    Hey Jay,

Remember this guy’s called Lemonution’s rocket man design?

Apart from a rocket suit design done in 2015, he also has a design for the penguin suit, shark suit and even a brick suit minfig.

Too much of a coincidence. I think TLG saw these designs and decided to roll with it.

    • Jay says:

Oh yeah, I’ve seen these. Yeah, they’re all definitely quite close in the ideas, but at the same time, I know that LEGO usually works years ahead of schedule when it comes to designs. I would imagine that given how much of a moneymaker the Minifigures Series is for LEGO, they would have quite a vast library of their own designs to draw on. I would expect them to have hundreds of sketches or design concepts in a vault somewhere.

But yeah, I do concur that it doesn’t look particularly good for LEGO, especially since Lemonution seems to imply that LEGO did look to his designs for inspiration.

In a creative field, it’s quite hard to “unsee” or “unread” things, which is why I’m quite careful not to read LEGO reviews on other sites, especially if I plan on reviewing those exact sets. Your brain can easily and subconsciously pick up certain phrases or words, and make you think that you came up with them when you actually read it somewhere else.

This case could be a mix of both scenarios.

Big W and Target yet to have them but luckily a specialist toy store did. I quickly found 2x Rocket Boy, 2x Fairy Girl and 2x Corn Suit Guy. Also got the Vet for the bunny, the muscle man for his moustache and the retro space man. The Rocket Boy is awesone. Pictures don’t do it justice. Likewise fairy girl is gorgeous.

  3. Michael says:

I haven’t seen these show up in stores yet. When are they likely to be available?

    • Jay says:

They should be slowly trickling out into stores. I believe some independents like Toyworld have already got them, but my local Big W and Target are yet to put theirs on the shelves yet.

  4. Hammerdragon says:

Well after hunting around the CBD for these since 9am yesterday finally tracked them down at Toyworld in Docklands! Made the trip out there during lunch and picked up the 7 figures on my must list. Disappointing that Myer/Target/DJ’s and Big W are not stocked as yet, but happy that I’ve managed to secure the ones I wanted so early following their “global” release.

    • Jay says:

Oh very nice! I’m still waiting on them to arrive at my local Big W. It’s been great that LEGO Australia has been so punctual with recent releases!

Let me know when they show up at the other stores!

  5. holly says:

Picked up some of these at Wal-Mart today!!! Now i have to wait for my 5 year old to be done with school to open them!

    • Jay says:

So lucky! We still have to wait for them to be out here. Let me know which ones you got!

      • Holly V. says:

We are waiting to open some, but so far we have opened the Rocket Boy, the Corn Guy and the Yuppie. I love them all, but the giant cell phone is really cool!

  6. Peter says:

The female gourmet chef (individual picture) something is missing …….. the kitchen mixer.

  7. David Aubrey says:

What is the status of lego batman series in America?

  8. Cool! I love corn so I’ll get the Corn Cob guy. Rocket boy looks nice too 😀

  9. LEGOfanblue says:

I quite like the new series but I still have no idea why they’re making one figure a mystery. He won’t be hard to find due to his pistols and hat so I’ll get one asap. I also like the Corn Cob Guy, Rocket Boy and I love the retro spaceman. I’ll also get the vet and French guy for their animals

    • Jay says:

I think they’re trying to mix up by going back to their “Mystery Minifigures” roots. It’s a bit of a gimmick, but I kinda like it!

  10. Warmongurl says:

Excited for every figure (except the yuppie and circus strongman) though I’ll still probably collect the entire series! Love that there’s so many awesome new accessories plus a pug & bunny 🙂

  11. JACKATTACKS says:

Normally I don’t bother with minifigures, but TLBM series has got me into the craze after feeling out a whole 9 minifigures! Rocket boy is the only minifigure that really catches my attention, followed by the rich looking guy (his black hairpiece for my bruce wayne) and maybe the mystery minifigure.

  12. Grimm says:

Nice! Thank you Jay I love this series. A ton of great lego elements. Can’t wait to feel some bags next month.. my fingers have been itching for a new series of blind bags. As with most my favorite character from this series has to be the retro spaceman for that great new helmet mold but they all look really good. Thanks Jay for your dedication to your craft. Your blog is the best tool for upcoming lego. You are appreciated and a great asset to the lego community.

    • Jay says:

Same here! I feel like it’s been ages since Series 16, which was the last “core” minifigure series, so I’m super excited for this!

Thank you so much for the kind words and support! I really do love what I do, so it does make me happy that I’m of some use to the community!

  13. John says:

retro spaceman got my hopes up. i thought it would be 70s-80s lego spaceman.

    • Jay says:

Now that you mention it, yeah I can see how that could be slightly misleading. That said, Spacemen from that era are better known as Classic Spaceman. Still a very cool Flash Gordon-esque character though!

  14. I love lego! says:

The elf girl looks like a reference to the legend of zelda
