Happy Star Wars Day! Check out photos from this year’s LEGO Death Star event in Sydney

Happy Star Wars Day! May the 4th be with you! In case you’re wondering, today is Star Wars Day, a quasi-official holiday that celebrates all things Star Wars.

For LEGO Star Wars fans, you can look forward to a plethora of sales and offers on LEGO.com as well as the general release of the UCS Snowspeeder around the world.

I had a bit of a surprise today that was surprisingly fitting for Star Wars day, the prize that I won from a LEGO Twitter giveaway, the exclusive Detention Block Rescue set that was raffled at this year’s Star Wars Celebration event arrived in the post!

Before you ask, yes, I will be opening, building and reviewing this set! I don’t really believe in hoarding sealed promotional sealed sets 🙂

To celebrate Star Wars Day Down Under, LEGO Australia held a special event in Sydney where fans helped LEGO Master Model Builder, Chris Steininger build and blow up a massive LEGO Death Star.

From the videos above, the event looked like a heap of fun and it’s really great to see such a huge turnout at Warringah Mall.

Looked pretty fun and I wish I was there! Were you there at the event? Let me know what you thought of it in the comments or if you managed to snag anything special there!

So yeah, Happy Star Wars Day! Did you build anything Star Wars related today?

Oh yeah, and I got the U-Wing set at the Lego Shop in order to get the promotional R2-D2 set.

  2. Warmongurl says:

I watched the last Lego Star Wars Droid Tales episode. They are funny & cute!

I like header pic of Star Wars figures with animal heads. My favorite two combos are Finn with the panda head and Amidala with the ears and red hair 🙂

  3. Bruno says:

I just realized that i have a grand total of “drumroll please” TWO LEGO STAR WARS SETS, BOTH UNDER $50 NZ DOLLERS! (0_0) And they have both been gifts…

  4. Marsha says:

Happy Star Wars day to you too. I caved under pressure and bought the Death Star.

  5. Jeb says:

Ha, May the fourth be with you Jay! I didn’t actually have anything to do with Star Wars day this year, or last year, or the year before that, or befofe that, or before that, etc. because it’s my brother’s birthday and he’s not exactly the biggest Star Wars fan 😛 Oh well. He got a lot of Ninjago sets this year, he’s still building them now.

    • Jay says:

Oh nice, happy birthday to your brother! What Ninjago sets has he been building? Did you get to help out? 😉

      • Jeb says:

Oops, this took a while to reply! He got a LOT of sets, but here’s what I can remember: Dawn of Iron Doom, Dragons Forge, Samurai VXL, Salvage MEC, Vermillion invader and City of Stiix.

I built City of Stiix and Dragons Forge for him. They were a bit to big for him, considering he only turned 10 😛

        • Jay says:

Haha no worries, wow, that’s an awesome haul! What do you think of Dragon’s Forge? I’ve been eyeing that one and Dawn of Iron Doom but I’m leaning heavily towards Dawn.

Happy Star Wars Day! May the force (fourth) be with you all! I didn’t build any Star Wars- related Lego, but I did bought a Star Wars short novel called Adventures in Wild Space: The Escape, by Cavan Scott. Can’t wait to start reading!

Jay, when will you write a review for the R2-D2 Lego build for 2017 May the Fourth be With You? Please write it. I want to have it, but I don’t know is it good, and your reviews are a huge game changer in my brain.

Anyway, Happy Star Wars Day everyone, and may the force be with you all.

I caved and bought some sets to get the R2-D2; I figured that if I change my mind and don’t want to build it, I can always turn around and sell it to some of my co-workers for $5 or so.

It also helped that the sets I got were on sale – picked up a couple of the Rey’s speeder set to get the red pieces – not a super common color.

Happy Star Wars day to all 🙂

    • Jay says:

Ah unfortunately, I don’t think I’ll be getting the R2-D2 set. I didn’t buy anything for Star Wars Day and there’s nothing particularly pressing that I wanted so I decided to pass on it. If you want a second opinion, I recommend checking out FBTB’s review: http://www.fbtb.net/2017/05/01/review-30611-r2-d2/

FBTB is one of my favourite LEGO sites that I frequent and their reviews are one of the best in the business. Hope this helps!
