Aus LEGO Sale: Half Priced LEGO Dimensions at EB Games

Great news for fans of LEGO dimensions and those of you who refuse to pay the extortionist prices for the packs! Australian gaming retailer EB Games is having a massive Half Price Sale and nearly all LEGO Dimensions sets and packs are included in the sale!

That’s absolutely right – 50% off LEGO Dimensions! This seems to apply to nearly all LEGO Dimensions waves, except for the latest one which contains the Goonies Level Pack and Hermione Fun Pack. Curiously, the new Chase McCain Fun Pack is included in the sale.

The sale is valid both online and in-store as you can see above. Stock may very based on your local EB Games and what they carry, but my small town EB Games had a pretty decent selection.

It’s a fantastic time to pick some up and round out your collection, especially if you’re like me and only buy them for the Minifigures. If you actually play the game, this sale is even better news.

With rumours that LEGO Dimensions is nearing the end of its life, such discounts are almost to be expected. It’s nowhere near as good as the deal the US got, where Packs were showing up at $2 dollar shops… but this is most likely the best that we’re going to get here in Australia.

The great thing is that most of the sets are also available for purchase online and having bought from EB Games online a few times, the shipping is pretty reasonable. I recommend buying from your local store to save on shipping fees.

Here’s my haul from today!

Do note I’m only listing the packs that are 50% off. Also, not all sets are available online. Notable omissions are the Adventure Time packs. You might need to check your local store as they may have them advertised for half off and in stock.

There are also a few inconsistencies – the Chase McCain was marked as 50% off in my local store, but they’re not half price online.

That said, here are links to the LEGO Dimensions products on EB Games’ website if you intend to buy online or don’t have an EB Games near you:

Level Packs:

Team Packs:

Happy shopping! Let me know if you’ve managed to grab any of these sets, or which ones you intend on picking up!

The heavily discounted LEGO Dimensions packs that showed up at 99c Only Stores wasn’t due to any possible end of line clearance. Loot Crate was doing a LEGO box and there subscribers numbers dropped off, so when it came to bundle the swag together they found that they had far too many LEGO Dimensions sets so they bulked it out at rock bottom prices, much to the chagrin of LEGO.

Hmmm, interesting. That’s the first I’ve heard of it. Is that really true? That wouldn’t explain there being sets like in 99c Stores and not included in the Loot Crate.

From what I’ve seen the Dimensions sets included in the Crate were pretty poor choices.

I’ve already got those packs (particular shoutout to Ozgameshop for providing the discounts!), so I’ll probably pick up the final two waves together when they go on clearance.

It was a very fun game while it lasted, but those prices were pretty unconscionable and I think that the industry is ultimately better off without physical DLC.

I mean, even at the most liberal interpretation, in a Fun Pack you’ve got $5 worth of bricks, a $5 minifigure, $2.50 worth of gameplay content, and $2.50 for the licensed material. Ain’t nobody going to feel good about paying $25 for that! The other packs are even worse.

    • Jay says:

Exactly. I think the theme and game could’ve had a better chance at success if they were priced cheaper.

It’s even worse for non-console gamers like me who can’t even reap the benefits of the in-game content.

I reckon they’ll go down in price again, that’s when I’ll get Sloth and the Powerpuffs when they’re released

    • Jay says:

My life will be complete once I get the Powerpuff Girls. But yeah, if the rumours are true that Dimensions is being discontinued, we can hope for lower discounts. Although 50% is really difficult to resist.

Could you please list NZ prices.

    • Jay says:

Sorry I’m not very familiar with the New Zealand retail market and the general vibe there. I wouldn’t feel comfortable reporting on stuff I’m not familiar with!

Toys R Us here in the U.S. recently had a 50% off sale. I also only collect packs for the minifigures so I purchased several: E.T., Gremlins, and Tina Goldstein. Excited to add so many unique characters to my collection!

    • Jay says:

Very nice! It’s a shame that they didn’t price these a bit better – I think the high price has been quite a big barrier for people to get into the theme (and video game).

  6. Jeb says:

Yes, yes! Sonic the Hedgehog shall finally be mine >:)

  7. Zach says:

Are there any Dimention sets that you would reccomend, ones with surprising builds or nice pieces. The only one that I would consider would be Hermionie, because of that nice Hippogriph built although I did I pick up Both Back to The Future packs because I missed out on the Delorean set.

    • Grimm says:

I would recommend the goonies set! It has a cute pirate ship and a few skeleton elements. I’d also recommend the scooby doo for the mystery machine and of course adventure time story pack for the Finn Minifigure

    • Jay says:

I recommend getting the Adventure Time ones – Finn is one of the best minifigs that LEGO have ever made. Period. The Knight Rider one is pretty nice too. Doc Brown from Back to the Future also has a nice build.

Overall, the builds are nothing special – you’re really only getting these for the minifigs. If you have enough parts, you can easily recreate many of the Dimensions builds effortlessly.
