Yes it’s real! LEGO 75192 UCS Millennium Falcon is officially the BIGGEST LEGO set ever!

http://i.imgur.com/TCoqwxT.jpg

After what seemed like an eternity of rumours, teasing, more rumours and leaks, LEGO have FINALLY announced the return of the Ultimate Collectors Series (UCS) Millennium Falcon for 2017.

The original UCS Millennium Falcon developed a legendary status as one of the most coveted LEGO sets ever due to its sheer size, scale and rarity.

*apologies for the photos being embedded from Facebook. I had some issues uploading the images natively on the blog. You can check out the full album on my Facebook page. So sorry for the really ghetto workaround.

This year, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Star Wars and the 10th anniversary of the original UCS Millennium Falcon, LEGO have gone all out with the 2017 UCS Millennium Falcon. LEGO have pulled out all the stops this time, crafting what is quite possibly the most intricately detailed Millennium Falcon ever that will surely delight any LEGO Star Wars fan.

The 2017 UCS Millennium Falcon weighs in at a whopping 7,541 pieces, making it THE largest LEGO set ever, eclipsing the Taj Mahal by 1619 pieces. This set truly deserves the Ultimate Collectors Series label, with an emphasis on ultimate.

The release date of 75192 UCS Millennium Falcon will be 1 October 2017, with early access for LEGO VIP members on 14 September 2017.

Here comes the fun part, the pricing of the UCS Millennium Falcon. Brace yourselves.

  • LEGO 75192 UCS Millennium Falcon – US$799.99 [US]
  • LEGO 75192 UCS Millennium Falcon – AU$1299.99 [AUS]
  • LEGO 75192 UCS Millennium Falcon – GBP£649.99 [UK]
  • LEGO 75192 UCS Millennium Falcon – CAD$899.99 [CAN]

Yup. The 2017 UCS Millennium Falcon will cost US$800 / AU$1300. I don’t know about you but that is a LOT of money and will surely be one of the most debated things about this set. I’ll share my thoughts on the pricing in a bit, but let’s take a look at the set in closer detail.

So I’m going to preface this by saying that I’m not a massive, hardcore Star Wars fan. I like Star Wars, but I wouldn’t call myself a die-hard fan, so I’m kinda not the target market for this set.

LEGO 75192 Millennium Falcon is a substantial upgrade to its predecessor, 10179 UCS Millennium Falcon. It improves upon every single facet of the older version.

The footprint of the set is the same, measuring over 8” (21cm) high, 33” (84cm) long and 22” (56cm) wide.

The details of the set is where the UCS Millennium Falcon truly shines – the designers went all out with the greebling, packing in an insane amount of detail, texture and nuance into the design.

The set also improves on the original by adding in some interior space, so you can recreate and re-enact your favourite moments from Empire Strikes Back or The Force Awakens.

Speaking of which, the set also features interchangeable radar dishes, so you can opt for the classic round one, or the newer rectangular version from The Force Awakens.

The UCS Millennium Falcon 2.0 comes with 7 minifigures, The Force Awakens crew of old Han Solo, Chewie, Finn, BB-8 and Rey, or the Empire Strikes Back Crew of Han Solo, Princess Leia and C-3PO.

Also included are 2 Porgs which will make their debut in The Last Jedi, and a buildable Mynock, one of those winged sucky bat things from Empire Strikes back.

It’s really difficult to not be blown away by the sheer awesomeness of this set. This is probably a dream come true for every single LEGO Star Wars fan out there, who missed out on the original and didn’t want to shell out thousands of dollars on the secondary market just to get ther hands on the Holy Grail of Star Wars sets.

In every sense, I can’t help but feel really happy for Star Wars fans, and the fact that this is a significant upgrade over the original in every shape and form is a big deal.

Don’t forget to check out the designer video below

That said, this set isn’t for me, and I suspect, isn’t for everyone. The price – US$800 or AU$1300 here in Australia is on a whole level of insane. Don’t get me wrong, I love LEGO but I cannot see myself ever paying so much for a LEGO set, no matter how well designed it is.

While this set is purely aimed at Adult Collectors and the AFOL crowd, and it will sell well, I don’t ever see how I could personally justify dropping such a huge amount on a collectible. I could buy myself a new phone for that price and I’d probably get way more utility out of it, but that’s just the sensible adult in me talking.

This set will sell like hot cakes, and LEGO will make an absolute killing from Star Wars fans who have been hungry for the long-awaited remake/re-issue of the UCS Millennium Falcon. I must commend LEGO for not holding back in any shape or form, and for going all out in creating what is undoubtedly the ultimate LEGO Star Wars set.

I don’t see LEGO topping this one any time soon, but it’s just not for me. I’m quite happy with my smaller Millennium Falcon so there’s that!

So yeah, now that it’s been officially announced, I’d love to hear what you think of the UCS Millennium Falcon! Are you going to get one? How do you plan to scrounge up the money for it? Is it worth risking your marriage for?

Let me know your thoughts in the comments section!

OMG! I am in love!!!! Hahahahaha

    • Jay says:

I’m not in love with the price, though, haha.

    • Squid Surprise says:

Check out my LEGO Millenium Falcon music video – LEGO super Star Destroyer video in progress 🙂

This the the greatest LEGO set ever – close second to the Imperial Star Destroyer and Executor Super Star Destroyer!

  2. Zack A says:

I just think that when the dust settles and you want to pick one up next year for yourself as a collector, you will be able to without a problem.

There are a lot of idiot speculators out there who think that this will go the way of being the next big investment set success like the last UCS Falcon but these are different times. You can see all the outrageously inflated prices already from resellers on ebay and amazon.

Those speculators and lego investers are investing in the wrong set. This one isn’t going to be successful at all. Thats because theres too many investors out there, now.

After the initial recoil of buyup, hype demand and reselling at its best in the first 6 months, just walk into your local Lego store and pick this one up off the shelf.

Do yourself a favor and do the smart thing: BUY IT TO OWN IT, enjoy it, build it with your girlfriend, your kids, whatever. But don’t think its the next big investment. You and half the world will be hoarding these thinking its going to be the next big investment item but its not. All investors are achieving at the moment is temporarily preventing true fans for getting one, right now. But they are screwing themselves and majority won’t move the stock for a speck over retail price!

  3. Jay?? Where are you? Are you alright?

Hopefully you’re just busy 🙂 I love reading your blog!

  4. Jonathan Hamm says:

I have the original UCS Millennium Falcon, I was impressed with the scale but not the design. I love what Lego has done here. The amount of detail is mind blowing. I’ve seen it in stores and I will get it. I love SW ships and Lego did this one just to perfection. You only live once✌??

  5. Angry says:

ITS BEEN 12 DAYS!!!! NEARLY TWO WEEKS! POST SOMETHING!!!!!!!

  6. Yehyeh says:

Its probably a better idea to buy multiple Ninjago Cities instead, and then you’d have a better set (from the looks of it) for better value 🙂 I’m not a star-wars fan at all, so I definitely won’t get this set – it’s a bit too expensive.

    Great post as always jay!

  7. Warmongurl says:

    Totally going to get it!!!!!!!!!

I was going to wait until the set came out on Amazon and I could save on the sales tax, however, I’ve read the sets could sell out almost immediately…. Do you think there’s a chance the set will never make it to general distribution and only ever be available at the Lego store? I might have to get it on Day 1 to ensure that I get one.

    • Zack A says:

Naaah its a regular stock item expected with a shelf life of approx 4 years or more. When the dust settles, you will be able to go into your local store and pick one up.

Just realistically don’t expect to be able to do it before XMAS this year, and whatever you do, don’t give your money away to a reseller looking to make a quick buck. Let all of those sleazebags screw themselves.

  8. Mike says:

    Another great review Jay 🙂

I really only build Technic and the larger AFOL Creator sets so don’t have any of the Star Wars stuff at all but I’d still build this given half a chance…. and the money. I guess I’d better start buying lottery tickets again.

But leaving the ridiculous price tag aside, my biggest problem would be the blisters gained while building it and having to jettison half of the furniture in my flat to find somewhere to display this monster!

  9. Dave says:

    Hi
I have the original flacon and will be getting this one too, probalby get 2, one to build and one to keep sealed in its box, did the same thing with the saturn V and the batman tumbler.

  10. Sam says:

So….., does anyone think this is a limited edition? How many will they make? Is it worth it to buy a few extra and then sell for profit when they sell out?

I’d like to buy 3 and then resell 2 enough to pay for the third…

  11. Andrew says:

Can anyone tell me what time AEST does the Lego day ‘tick over’? I wanted to get the Technic Porsche on day 1, so I waited till midnight ticked over, but the item went from ‘coming x/x/x’ to ‘coming soon’ (maybe coming today – I don’t recall exactly). I checked before work at 7am – still coming soon. Got home from work early at 4:00pm – sold out.

So I’m curious to know at what time in AUS will we get our 2 min opportunity on day 1 to buy 75192 before it sells out?

    • Greg says:

It is midnight Denmark time so 8am AEST

      • Andrew says:

After checking every hour since 8 am, and every half hour since midday, it finally came up at 4:30 pm, when Lego login then crashed continuously for 30 mins, then I finally got one – yay.

        • John D says:

I managed to get my order through after about 25 minutes of trying once it became available at 2:30PM AWST (GMT +8). I see it’s reporting as back ordered now in my order status.

  12. Hey Jay I did a pre-review of the set, wondering if you are interested to see it 🙂

  13. JP says:

Great review and comments. I’m in the bracket of people that missed the boat on the first one and I’ll jump on this one with my VIP card held high! That said, you’re correct, it’s not for everyone – definitely for those that have disposable income to burn. Lego has outdone themselves again and I can’t wait to get my hands on one. Great review!

  14. Daniel says:

The Australian and New Zealand price is ridiculously more than elsewhere. Australian Lego prices seemed to be evening up with overseas, by the US price roughly translates to a bit over AU$1000, not AU$1299!! It makes me happy I’m not a hardcore Star Wars fan that wouldn’t be able to resist buying this.
Still, if you’ve been lusting after the original UCS MF this must be a dream come true. I think Lego may have just released this to show their displeasure at the overinflated secondary market. I have bought sealed 10 year old sets for double (or maximum triple) their value which I think is a fair return for the person who took the trouble to store them, but the prices on the original UCS MF were out of control. This sends a signal that Lego can and WILL rerelease old sets and sellers US$500 sets for >$5000 is not a practice they encourage, and they’ve just decimated the market for the old UCS MF to make a point.

    • Karrakazul says:

If LEGO wanted to do something about ridiculous reseller prices they’d be releasing the exclusive SDCC figs in regular sets a year or two down the line. I don’t think resellers cross their mind, just what the people want bad enough that they can comfortably remake a set and still have it sell well.

      • Daniel says:

The SDCC figures are explicitly designed to be exclusive. It shouldn’t be a surprise that they are hard to come by or expensive from greedy scalpers. I wish they’d just get rid of the bloody things so people would stop whinging online about it. Learn that there are things in life that you can’t have. Not having a plastic duck dressed like deadpool is not the end of the world. Think about people who’ve lost there homes in Houston or the million other problems in the world.

        • Daniel says:

Sorry for that rant. I came across as a jerk, you have my apologies. Each to there own and I can understand if you’re into the superheroes line it must be frustrating.

          • Karrakazul says:

I was just making the point that reseller price shenanigans have been going on for a long, long time with stuff other than the UCS Falcon and if they really wanted to hit out at those kinds of people they have had ample opportunity to do so, or could not enable it in the first place with things like the SDCC exclusives purely as an example regardless of my personal feelings on it.

  15. Redenzo says:

You’re better off with Ninjago City, with 16 minifigs and the price is like the third of the falcon

  16. My main issue with the set is it costs $1499 in New Zealand. (Saying it as $1.5k… ouch)

That means I can buy the Death Star ($899) + Ninjago City ($599). No matter how good this set is, I’m still not getting it.

On another note, the Death Star is 20% off at Toyworld ($719) so I’m probably gonna pick it up 😀 so excited

  17. Evan says:

The price isn’t really debateable. A lego piece is approximately 10,4 cents, meaning 7541 lego pieces is worth about $785, meaning you pay only 15$ extra for it being a collectors set.

  18. Nikman says:

“I don’t see LEGO topping this one any time soon, but it’s just not for me. I’m quite happy with my smaller Millennium Falcon so there’s that!”

At least you had the foresight to purchase the original Millennium Falcon set… ?

  19. ALICE says:

I have three boys who would probably kill each other for this (in the nicest possible way!!). Technically I could give each of them $400 for Christmas and let them work it out from there. Yeah, nah – they’re not getting $400! But if I bought it for myself, I may never ever have to do a load of washing or sink of dishes again. I’m sure it will appear in our house, eventually.

  20. karrakazul says:

No denying this is a massive and detailed set, kind of surprised it doesn’t come with a wider selection of figs though. I’m in the same boat where I’m just not that big of a fan of Star Wars to drop $1300 on a set and am quite happy with one of the smaller Millennium Falcons I’ve got, will be saving for more modulars and hopefully a new train in the near future.

  21. Luke says:

I like it. I really like it. I might even go so far as to say I love it. But I’m nowhere near a lego store (2 hour flight to Queensland? Yeah like that’ll happen) and i think this is the kind of thing you have to buy in person, nor do I even HAVE $1300 for it. Ideally some time next year it will be in Big W at a reduced price, or maybe in about a year or 2 I’ll take a road trip for it.

    • Mike says:

Sorry buddy, this will *NEVER* be seen in Big W on sale… just like the Porsche 911 and so many others this will be a hardcore collectors item.

  22. Tim says:

Slow deep breaths… while I contemplate what spending $1300 on a LEGO set is going to feel like. To be honest the price didn’t surprise me, I’d been guessing between $1200-$1500 ever since the rumours started flying months ago. Also, I don’t like or use mobile phones and I don’t have a wife, so I’m all good really as far as your hindrances go Jay! 🙂

Still, this is going to hurt. Ninjago City arrived this morning, Old Fishing Store got ordered late last night… now in another 2 weeks…

At least I won’t be bored!

    Lucky I’m rich (not really).

  23. Donovan says:

Uggggh. I didnt want this…but I just finished marathoning the Star Wars movies…I feelso tempted. This would be such a massive setup, probably I’d lose some chances for modulars… RIP WALLET!

  24. Greg says:

This is what I have been waiting for
This is what I have been saving for
Although it is a bit more expensive than what I was hoping for (<$1000) I don't care I will get it day 1 as long as it doesn't sell out.
It looks awesome, I love how big it is.
I even have a display coffee table ready to put it in when I am done.
Probably won't be getting any the other new Star Wars Lego after this.

    • Greg says:

After checking the Lego website non-stop all day I managed to get the Millennium Falcon.
Now the wait for it to be delivered.
      I can’t wait any longer!!!!

  25. BTW Jay the Death Star is 20% off in New Zealand at $719.99! May buy it at that price.

  26. Walau! $1299.99 in Australia! Oh no what will the NZ price be? I fear somewhere around $1499.99.

Not used to typing 4-digit LEGO prices yet…

(yes my Singaporean-ness is suddenly coming back. Watching too much Singaporean comedy on YouTube.)

  27. Josh says:

I will be picking this set up day 1! I did miss out on the 2007 one, and this one is of course worth the $800 price tag (for me). It might be a ‘bad’ price per part ratio, but if you wanted to buy parts to make it, it would be well over $900. Its an incredible display model, and I suspect a very fun and satisfying build. It will be the biggest set I own (and everyone else for that matter lol)!

  28. Mark says:

Day 1 purchase for me, provided the S@H website doesn’t fall over. I’ve coveted the original for a long time and wished I could afford it. $1300 is a stretch for sure but I’d happily sell off a lot of other sets I own if I had too. It’s definitely the ultimate experience for a hardcore SW Lego fan. I just happen to be staying near the Leicester Square store for a few days, I’m hoping I get to lay my eyes on this beauty tomorrow!

  29. Lisa Mayes says:

Think lego could have picked a different subject for this massive new set. Am an avid Star Wars fan and have a certified original UCS Millennium Falcon so the thought of handing over £650 (am from UK) does not appeal. I think lego missed a prime opportunity to really blow fans away with something new and unique, instead we get another rehash of an already superb set. Sorry Lego but I think you hyped us up for a disappointment.

  30. Colby says:

Also, when are your Ninjago mini figure reviews coming out? I’ve been waiting FOREVER!!!

  31. Colby says:

I definitely want this set! I really want Ninjago city, so this is probably going to have to wait until next year.

  32. Artobrix says:

Oh man… after tax in CAD is $1015. Ouch… Adult me says NO but AFOL me says YES! YES! YES!
