LEGO Disney Minifigures Series 2 officially unveiled!

Late last night, LEGO revealed via their social media the next LEGO Minifigures series – a sequel to the much-beloved Disney Minifigures Series!

Update: I’ve completed my Review of LEGO Disney Minifigures series 2!

Disney Minifigures Series 2 will once again feature 18 characters from many of its beloved movies and TV shows, spanning classics such as Mickey & Minnie from Steamboat Willie, to cult-favourite TV shows like Ducktales and modern hits like The Incredibles and Frozen.

Series 2 will hit store shelves on 1 May 2019. They’re now available online from LEGO.com, but I highly recommend buying a complete set, which you can often find on Amazon or your local specialised LEGO retailer.

There are 2 complete sets per box, with the distribution as follows

Mickey Mouse x 4
Minnie Mouse x 4
Scrooge McDuck x 4
Chip x 4
Dale x 4
Anna x 4
Elsa x 4
Hades x 4
Frozone x 4

Jafar x 3
Jasmine x 3
Hercules x 3
Sally x 3
Jack Skellington x 3
Edna Mode x 3

Huey x 2
Dewie x 2
Louie x 2

Here’s the list of characters:

  • Black & White Mickey Mouse
  • Black & White Minnie Mouse
  • Scrooge McDuck
  • Huey
  • Dewey
  • Louie
  • Jack Skellington
  • Sally
  • Jasmine
  • Jafar
  • Hercules
  • Hades
  • Edna Mode
  • Frozone
  • Elsa
  • Anna
  • Chip
  • Dale

I think the line-up looks great, and LEGO and Disney have selected a really good mix of characters spanning Disney’s expansive catalogue of films and TV shows.

Personally, I am really happy that they included Hercules, one of my personal favourite Disney movies of all time, and I was really surprised to see them give Ducktales 4 slots (very well-deserved).

It seems like there’s something for everyone in Disney Series 2, and on paper, it seems like a much stronger group than Series 1.

There are some glaring omissions with Goofy being the biggest one in my opinion. I can’t believe they didn’t include him, but I guess there’ll hopefully be Series 3 to look forward to.

In my review of the first Disney series, I listed Hercules, Mulan, Cruella, Pocahontas and Pinocchio on my wishlist for Series 2, so I guess getting one out of five isn’t too bad after all?

Check out individual photos of each Disney Series 2 minifigure below!

I’d love to know which characters you’re looking forward to the most, and which were the ones you wished were in Series 2!

Thanks for reading and watch out for the Disney Series 2 review as soon as they arrive in my postbox!

How long do mini figure sets stay in stores for usually? These ones just came out in May, so when will stores start discontinuing them / putting them on sale? Thanks!

  2. AA says:

Hi, I bought an unopened box of Disney Minifigures today & didn’t even get one full set! I got 17 different characters & not one Anna Minifigure. I’ve read that you are meant to get 2 full sets per box, why would this box I got not even have one full set and it was unopened and still in the original Lego box too.
    My box had:
    7 Edna
    5 Dale
    4 Frozone
    4 Mickey
    4 Minnie
    4 Elsa
    4 Scooge
    4 Hades
    3 Hercules
    3 Chip
    3 Jafar
    3 Jasmine
    3 Jack
    3 Sally
    2 Louie
    2 Dewy
    2 Hewy
Also I don’t like what they did with the paper Minifigures guide. It’s very thin & I hate that they taped it together because now my guide has been damaged by the tape ripping the paper. I really hope Lego don’t continue doing that.

My kids are now big LEGO fans. I spent a LOT of extra money buying random blind bags to get a full set. Do you have any recommendations where to buy a whole box for this next series. Thanks!!

  4. Chris says:

Hi! I’m just wondering, do you think these will be able to be bought individually? Or will they be a lucky dip kind of purchase? I never knew about season 1 so am unsure! Thanks!

    • Andy says:

They will be blind bags, so Lucky Dip.

However, unless they change anything, you should be able to feel through the shapes through the bags to hopefully derive what is inside. There are usually guides for what to feel for, but just looking at the pictures, I’d imagine Mickey & Minnie should be easy to feel their heads, and assuming the hats are not separate, you could probably work out which one was Mickey as his hat is taller.

You’d probably be able to feel the boat wheel.

Huey, Dewey and Louie will probably be harder to separate by feel – Huey has the book, but I wouldn’t like to be differentiating the catapult and torch.

I collected some of the “Lego Movie 2” CMFs, and was able to feel all but one of the figures I was looking for. In the end I bought Dorothy off eBay – it wasn’t that much more than buying a bag blind, but at least I knew which one I was getting. If they make any of the figures more rare than the others (as Jay suggests, Mickey & Minnie might fall under this category) then those will probably fetch ridiculous sums on ebay.

  5. Claudia says:

Only want 2. MM and MM. Hate that I have to buy at Ebay to make sure I get those two

    • Andrew says:

I’ve got these two please check me out on eBay at Thomas-land-2 and if you mention from this list I’ll give 10℅ discount and combine postage thanks Andrew

    • Please check out Thomas-land-2 and they will be an able to help with Andy orders and if you mention jays brick blog a 19℅ discount will be given

  6. Kangababy says:

Awesome set. I’ll probably get one of each! I especially love how they did Hades. He looks awesome

  7. Sora says:

You could put together a decent Kingdom Hearts scene with most of the characters in this series
I’m loving all of them just as much as the first series. The Jack one looks way better than the unofficial one I have. 100% agree on wanting a goofy one too

  8. Hammerdragon says:

Look forward to an individual breakdown of the characters when you get the time.
Quite a few I’d be after. M&M for sure, Jack and Sally, (Jack look awesome), Duck Tales 4 as I always liked that show, and Jafar (Patience Yargo), always loved his character, maybe Jasmine too. Possibly C&D, but not the others except to maybe sell on in the future. Never seen Frozen or Incredibles so no interest there. Hercules and Hades are an outside chance of ending up in my collection

  9. DeeAnn says:

Most of the minifig series have been sets of 16. I wonder why they decided to make 18 minifigs for the 2 Disney series? The 2 Batman series and the Ninjago series were sets of 20. So was the Lego Movie 2. Then there’s the 40 Years set which had 17. Weird.

I would love to see a Goofy minifig also! He is my favorite of all time. Or how about Snow White and a few of the dwarves? I’d also like to see a Pinocchio minifig.

Also, I hope they go back to making the paper insert (with the picture of all minifigs in the set) from the sturdier paper like before. This last one from the Lego Movie 2 was pretty flimsy. I’m sure it was a cost-saving measure. And maybe I’m the only one who keeps them….

    • Hammerdragon says:

Hi DeeAnn. I too was less than impressed with the collector sheet from TLM2 and prefer the old ones. Loved the Pinocchio suggestion

  10. Lorraine O'Mahoney says:

    Great selection.

Re Hercules. I saw an exhibition in the House of Illustration in London that featured Gerald Scarfe’s work on Hercules, amongst other projects.

Fascinating to read how his style had to be adapted to Disney’s & vice versa.

  11. Joe Bowling says:

Jack and Sally for sure, as I’m a sucker for anything that fits into a Halloween theme (and my kids love the movie).

  12. Kelvin says:

Very happy with the selection here. Great line up. There are just too many characters to choose from so hopefully goofy was an intentional omission to save some big guns for a later series.

Looking forward to Elsa & Anna, Hercules, Scrooge McDuck, Frozone and Edna plus Jafar. Happy to also get the vintage Micky and Minnie as it saves me buying the steamboat.

Hoping to see goofy, Winnie the Pooh, Cinderella, Snow White, Joy and Sadness from Inside Out.

  13. Mark says:

Monochromatic Minnie and Mickey look kinda creepy to me. Are they exactly the same as the ones in the Steamboat Willie set? Surely they wouldn’t make non-exclusive figs chase ones?
