Presenting the 10269 LEGO Harley-Davidson Fat Boy

In one of the more surprising reveals of 2019, LEGO has officially unveiled its newest Creator Expert set – 10269 Harley-Davidson Fat Boy.

The set faithfully re-creates the 2019 Harley-Davidson Fat Boy in stunning fashion.

Update: Read my review of the LEGO Harley-Davidson to find out what I thought of the set, and to check out more photos!

The 1,023-piece LEGO Harley-Davidson Fat Boy is set for a release date of 17 July 2019 for LEGO VIPs and will retail for US$99.99/AU$159.99. It’ll be available to order from LEGO.com or you can pick one up at your local LEGO Brand Retail Store.

The general release date for this set is on 1 August 2019.

After conquering the automotive world with amazing renditions of iconic vehicles such as the Volkswagen Beetle and Ford Mustang, it makes total sense for LEGO to expand its Creator Expert vehicle series to include two-wheeled favourites.

Now this isn’t the first time that LEGO has taken on motorcycles – in 2017, LEGO took on the BMW R 1200 GS Adventure Bike, albeit in Technic-form.

The completed model measures over 20cm (7”) high, 18cm (7”) wide and 33cm (12”) long, making it a decent-sized model for display.

One of the most impressive things about the LEGO Harley-Davidson is just how close the LEGO designers managed to make it look to the real thing.

Fans can expect realistic details such as solid-disc Lakester wheels with beefy tires to its teardrop fuel tank with printed logos and inbuilt speedometer.

It also includes a Milwaukee-Eight engine with moving pistons, dual exhaust pipes, handlebar steering, moveable gearshift pedal and brake levers, kickstand and a sturdy display stand.

I think it’s pretty cool that the pistons actually move, as demonstrated by this diagram above.

Despite its relatively low piece count, the Harley doesn’t lack for details, and the crazy level of mechanical detail achieved by the LEGO designers is just stunning to behold.

Not only will this appeal to hardcore bikers, but LEGO are also hopeful in closing down the hipster, man-bun with heavy tattoos demographic, judging from this photo.

So, I have close to zero affinity and appreciation of motorcycles. The closest trait I possess to a biker is that I own a leather jacket, and my personal choice of two-wheeled vehicle is my trust electric scooter.

Despite that, this is a very easy LEGO set to love and I can easily see this being incorporated into my LEGO Creator Expert vehicle collection.

I also feel like the price-point is pretty accessible for a set of this calibre – it’s not too expensive that it feels like you have to save up ages for it, and I predict it’ll be a pretty easy impulse purchase for most adult LEGO fans.

Also, yay for printed elements. It seems like LEGO is finally starting to realise that we want more printed elements in these premium sets.

The LEGO Harley-Davidson Fat Boy releases on LEGO.com and at your local LEGO Brand Retail Store on 17 July 2019 for LEGO VIP members, and 1 August 2019 for everyone else.

Ok, so I am a motorcycle rider and have ridden on and off for over thirty years – and to be honest I wouldn’t be seen dead on a Harley as the whole “tough guy” image is just such a ridiculous cliche (plus the few I have actually ridden are big, lumpy, slow and handle like dogs). BUT…. having said that I will probably buy this as it does look really cool. (How’s that for hypocrisy?!). And given LEGO hardly do any bikes these days and given I also have all the other Technic bikes, I will happily make an exception for this set.
Now let the flames begin from the Hog riders out there 🙂

Haha yeah, there’s definitely a stereotype when it comes to Harleys – they also look really uncomfortable to ride, but I say that as a non-motorcycle rider.

The design is amazing, and more bikes would be great. I’d love to see a Japanese superbike like a Hayabusa one day!

I think Mike Psiaki is the most talented Lego builder. I own several of his masterpieces (Saturn V, Ferrari F40) and I’m planning to get that marvelous Mustang. The only set from him I don’t like is the Aston Martin DB5, but it’s curved lines are really impossible to be reproduced at that scale.
I love HD motorbikes, even if I’ve never owned (and never will) a motorbike. Not really my kind of vehicle.
This is gorgeous, yeah for no stickers (I hate stickers) but I don’t like the fork: it seems too “fat” at my eyes.
No idea about how to make it with different pieces but it’s my official excuse not to get the set.
    For now… ;P

I swear I write “its”, the damn iPad corrector changes it to “it’s” and I’m too lazy to read the text before tapping the “post” button! 😀

    • Jay says:

Agreed, everything he touches turns to gold. But I also recognise that design is a team effort, and while he is the most visible designer that gets attached to these projects, there are probably a few others in the background who contributed.

Agree with the DB5, it’s a sore spot because I absolutely love it as a car, but the design just didn’t translate well.

  3. Gabe says:

Wow, great review! I can’t wait to buy this! I love how Lego Creator Expert has been releasing detailed vehicles like the Volkswagen Beetle, the Ford Mustang and the Volkswagen T1 Camper Van.

  4. Dave says:

That’s really cool :)) i have the older full dresser Harley along with the aircraft carrier battleship etc. Will be getting this one for sure

  5. Anthony says:

Love this and the fact it has no stickers pushes this into must have territory for me.

    Great review Jay

  6. James says:

Normally I view bikes and bikers as if I was a member of the MFP but this I like!!!!
