Bushfire Raffle Update: $8,299 raised for the Red Cross!

On Friday, the 3rd of January as bushfires raged in New South Wales and Eastern Victoria, the photos and stories coming in from remote towns getting engulfed was pretty confronting.

I had made a small donation over Christmas to another charity, but the severity of the bushfires peaked then, and I just felt like I had to do something more.

It was the last weekend before my holidays ended and I was back at work, so I hastily drafted a blog post in the dead of night, rummaged through my LEGO room to find what I felt would be compelling prizes, and started a raffle, thinking that if I could just raise $300 for the Red Cross’ Disaster Relief effort, I would be slightly happier that money would be going towards those who needed it most.

Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined that the LEGO community would collectively raise $8,299 for the Red Cross.

I am so astounded by everyone’s generosity, from all 302 of you that donated, to all of you who have generously added to the prize pool.

It was truly amazing to see the local and international LEGO community rally together, and to watch people chip in from all over the world.

I would also personally like to thank Richard from The Rambling Brick, John from Bricktastic Blog, Daniel R,  I’m Rick James Bricks, Steven Asbury, Kevin Ahn from the LEGO Ambassador Network, Magnus Hindsberger, Frostbricks and @brickamaniac for their generous prize donations.

Special thanks also to New Elementary, Brickset, The Brick Blogger, Bricks for Bricks, Italian Lug, and everyone else who shared the raffle with your networks, which has helped so, so much.

Last but certainly not least, thank you to everyone who donated to the cause!

So, now the fun stuff! Raffle prizes!

So the numbers are in, and after two gruelling days of manual data entry, I’ve finally got everyone’s details in and have crunched all the numbers from the Bushfire Raffle that ran all of last week!

Using random.org, I’ve randomly drawed prizes for everyone. Congratulations to all the winners! I’ll be in touch in the next day or so to confirm your address and details!
