Review: LEGO 60271 Main Square

December 17, 2020 By Jay 5 Comments

2020 has been an exceptional year for LEGO and choosing what set to spend your limited budgets on has never been more important. While the most notable (and expensive!) sets have been dominated by LEGO’s adult-focused 18+ line, and the bevy of outstanding LEGO Ideas sets (like Sesame Street!), LEGO have also introduced some higher…

Review: LEGO 60173 Mountain Arrest

March 27, 2018 By Jay 16 Comments

I typically only buy LEGO City sets when they’re non-City related. Deep Sea Exploration, Arctic, and last year’s Jungle are consistent draws for me thanks to the exotic settings and presence of new animal moulds. In 2018, LEGO City returns to the Mountains for a small Mountain Police sub-theme that bears many similarities (such as uh,…

Review: LEGO 60159 Jungle Halftrack Mission

July 30, 2017 By Jay 14 Comments

One of the themes I was most looking forward to this year (among many others) is LEGO City Jungle, the new exciting City sub-theme that eschews the concrete jungle for the real thing. It’s next in line of a series of Exploration and Science-based subthemes that has transported us to the Arctic, Volcanos and even…

Review: LEGO 60150 Pizza Van

January 28, 2017 By Jay 15 Comments

LEGO City has failed to appeal to me for the last few years. Apart from outlier sets like Fun in the Park and Service Station, the theme has been plagued by endless repetition – it mostly just feels like the same old Trucks, Police and Thieves and Firemen sets recycled year after year. This year, LEGO managed…

Review: LEGO 60132 Service Station

September 7, 2016 By Jay 36 Comments

When LEGO revealed that they were releasing an Octan Service Station (better known as “servos” here Down Under) in 2016, I was pretty ecstatic. When I was younger, I had always wanted an Octan Gas Station (specifically 6397 Gas N’ Wash Express) but my parents never got around to buying me one. Enter 60132 Service Station,…

Review: LEGO 60036 Arctic Base Camp

March 25, 2016 By Jay 14 Comments

Here’s a bit of a throwback – a review of one of my favourite modern LEGO City sets from 2014 – 60036 Arctic Base Camp. The set has proudly been on display in my study since 2014 but with a recent move coming up, I’m forced to dismantle and pack up most of my LEGO…

Pack your walking stick because we're going on an Pack your walking stick because we're going on an adventure to explore the LEGO Hundred Acre Wood with @lego LEGO 21326 Winnie the Pooh!

To celebrate its 95th anniversary, Winnie the Pooh & friends will make their LEGO debut in this 1,265-piece set that will retail for US$99.99 / AU$159.99 / £89.99.

The set's release date is 18 March 2021 for LEGO VIP members, and 1 April 2021 for a wider release and will be available on LEGO.com or your local LEGO Store.

It's pretty clear that LEGO have yet another winner on their hands with Winnie the Pooh. An eternal favourite of any generation, Winnie the Pooh's carefree, joyous nature is just the antidote we need in these troubling times, and I'm so glad that LEGO have done a terrific job with this set.

Stay tuned for my full review tomorrow!
8 years ago, our lives changed forever as we embar 8 years ago, our lives changed forever as we embarked on this crazy adventure as husband and wife!

Last year was definitely the most unprecedented™ one yet, but one that I will treasure forever.

It was an incredibly challenging year, having had to navigate through multiple job changes, yet you have never once wavered with your support and faith that I would find my feet eventually.

I might have caused some sleepless nights when work was uncertain, yet you continued to be a pillar of strength to our family, and by God's eternal grace, we always seem to come out on top.

Working from home has been truly enjoyable, especially now that you get a glimpse into the banality of work life, Zoom calls, meetings that could be emails, corporate jargon and why there must always at least 2 mugs on my desk at all times.

Thanks for taking on a second job as WFH Office Manager, tolerating my Amazon addiction and sticking around in spite of my crippling caffeine addiction.

Happy anniversary, love and here's to many more happy years ❤️

Today is "Chap Goh Meh" or the Lantern Festival, t Today is "Chap Goh Meh" or the Lantern Festival, the final day of Chinese New Year. 🏮

It's a bit of a strange one this year, with the pandemic throwing plans into disarray, and my family being further away than usual, so celebrations were a little different in 2021.

Thank you @LEGO for an excellent range of Chinese Traditional Festival sets. 🙏

@little.ong (and myself) really loved the Duplo Happy Childhood Moments set, and I especially enjoyed the new dumplings element! 🥟

Spring Lantern Festival is one of the best LEGO sets I've had the pleasure of building, and I also appreciated the foray into the mythological origins of Lunar New Year with Story of Nian. 🧨🧧🎆

More sets that celebrate the rich cultural diversity of the world, please! 🌏

For #Ninjago fans, it doesn’t get much better than this. 71747 The Keeper’s Village is packed with value and is a great centerpiece to Season 14 – The Island.

I have a soft spot for location, or structure-based Ninjago builds, so The Keeper’s Village strikes that itch in the best of ways.

The jungle lair sets the scene and provides a rich backdrop that works really well as a small playset and display piece.

Combined with a very generous helping of 5 minifigures, there’s a ton of value and playability built into the set, especially the stone pillar which works remarkably well as a “big enemy” for the Ninjas to deal with – it very much gives off a “mini-boss in a video game vibe”.

The highlights for me would be Chief Mammatus and Thunder Keeper’s designs. As a big fan of the Islanders theme, I love that #LEGO could callback to those designs in a fresh new way, utilising the tech and innovation that’s now possible through minifigure design.

Whether you’re an adult fan looking for a set that’s a bit more kiddy, outlandish and fun, or you’re planning to buy this for a young child who wants an engaging playset, I can highly recommend 71747 The Keeper’s Village.

Rating and score: 4/5 ★★★★✰
