Review: LEGO 30606 Nightwing Polybag

June 23, 2016 By Jay 18 Comments

LEGO’s latest DVD release Justice League: Gotham City Breakout started going on sale in Australia yesterday, 22 June and I wasted no time picking it up for the sole reason of getting the exclusive polybag – 30606 Nightwing! It’s been ages since I’ve watched a LEGO DC Super Heroes DVD (I believe the last was Super…

LEGO Marvel Avengers, the new video game developed by TT Games was released last week on Thursday here in Australia. The release also includes a long-standing tradition of incentivizing preorders by giving fans an opportunity to own the exclusive new LEGO polybag – 5002946 Silver Centurion! The preorder bonus was an EB Games exclusive here…

Review: LEGO 5002948 – The Force Awakens C-3PO Polybag

December 5, 2015 By Jay 6 Comments

It’s really funny. Just two weeks ago in my Hulk minifigure review, I was freshly lamenting the fact that Australia almost always gets shafted when it comes to promotional polybags when out of nowhere, Big W surprises everyone with a catalogue offering a free Force Awakens C-3PO polybag with any LEGO purchase above $30! It’s…

Review: LEGO 5003084 – Minifigure Hulk Polybag (2015)

November 15, 2015 By Jay 4 Comments

One of the many downsides of being a LEGO fan in Australia is that we’re almost always forgotten when it comes to promotional polybags. Sure, LEGO.com will occasionally offer up free polybags but it’s still nowhere near what the Americans, Europeans and other Earthlings get. The recent Toys ‘R’ Us exclusive, the Mini Hulk polybag…

Review: LEGO 5002943 – Winter Soldier Polybag

May 22, 2015 By Jay 4 Comments

My recent Electro polybag review was well received, so I’m keeping up the momentum with my next exclusive polybag – The Winter Soldier. The Winter Soldier polybag was available to Australians in February as part of a LEGO.com promotion to entice fans to drop $500 on the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier. I was one of those enticed…

Review: LEGO 5002125 – Electro Polybag

May 20, 2015 By Jay 5 Comments

Living in Australia, we often miss out on some of the cooler and exclusive polybags that are often available to our American and European counterparts. The Amazing Spider-Man 2’s Electro polybag was one recent case. When news broke online that Toys ‘R’ Us in the United States were starting to sell Electro polybags, I called in…

Today is "Chap Goh Meh" or the Lantern Festival, t Today is "Chap Goh Meh" or the Lantern Festival, the final day of Chinese New Year. 🏮

It's a bit of a strange one this year, with the pandemic throwing plans into disarray, and my family being further away than usual, so celebrations were a little different in 2021.

Thank you @LEGO for an excellent range of Chinese Traditional Festival sets. 🙏

@little.ong (and myself) really loved the Duplo Happy Childhood Moments set, and I especially enjoyed the new dumplings element! 🥟

Spring Lantern Festival is one of the best LEGO sets I've had the pleasure of building, and I also appreciated the foray into the mythological origins of Lunar New Year with Story of Nian. 🧨🧧🎆

More sets that celebrate the rich cultural diversity of the world, please! 🌏

For #Ninjago fans, it doesn’t get much better than this. 71747 The Keeper’s Village is packed with value and is a great centerpiece to Season 14 – The Island.

I have a soft spot for location, or structure-based Ninjago builds, so The Keeper’s Village strikes that itch in the best of ways.

The jungle lair sets the scene and provides a rich backdrop that works really well as a small playset and display piece.

Combined with a very generous helping of 5 minifigures, there’s a ton of value and playability built into the set, especially the stone pillar which works remarkably well as a “big enemy” for the Ninjas to deal with – it very much gives off a “mini-boss in a video game vibe”.

The highlights for me would be Chief Mammatus and Thunder Keeper’s designs. As a big fan of the Islanders theme, I love that #LEGO could callback to those designs in a fresh new way, utilising the tech and innovation that’s now possible through minifigure design.

Whether you’re an adult fan looking for a set that’s a bit more kiddy, outlandish and fun, or you’re planning to buy this for a young child who wants an engaging playset, I can highly recommend 71747 The Keeper’s Village.

Rating and score: 4/5 ★★★★✰
