Have you got tickets to Brickvention yet?

It’s that time of the year again for Brickvention!

Dubbed Australia’s premier and largest LEGO fan conventions, Brickvention is one of my favourite events of the year, where LEGO fans and builders from across the country (and beyond!) congregate in Melbourne to put on one heck of a display over a weekend.

Expect to see imaginative creations, sprawling brick-built cities and incredible LEGO models of all shapes and sizes at Brickvention.

Brickvention 2019 will be running on 19 and 20 January 2019 at Melbourne’s Royal Exhibition Building.

You’ll need to purchase tickets for the event from the Brickvention websiteadult tickets cost $18, children aged 4 – 14 cost $9 and under 3s are free.

There are also two day passes for $54.00 (adults), and $36.00 (4-14 years of age) which also nets you 10% off the price at the Brickvention merchandise stand (exclusions may apply) and a special VIP Gift.

I’ve been very lucky to have attended every Brickvention since 2014, and I always, always have a great time. It’s a fantastic event, even for casual LEGO fans – the Royal Exhibition Building is always packed to the rafters with LEGO fans, and there’s incredible energy in the building that’s just buzzing with creativity and excitement about LEGO.

In addition to builders displaying their amazing creations, there’s usually a large retail section with independent LEGO stores from across the state/country selling all sorts of sets – from the newest releases, loose minifigures, limited edition sets, and even a few vintage LEGO sets.

This year, as part of Brickvention, Melbourne’s Legoland Discovery Centre will also be hosting the world’s biggest minifigure swap. Patterned after the practice at all Legolands, where you can walk up to any employee and demand request a trade with their minifigure (often found on their nametag).

The LDC will be operating a booth at Brickvention where you can go and swap from over 3,000 minifigs to choose from. Personally, if you have a lot of duplicates or even old minifigs lying around, you can bring them there and see what you can trade them for.

Protip: bring bald minifigures and swap them. I do that every time I make it to Legoland.

In addition to that, there’ll also be a Brickvention Adults Night Afterparty at the LDC in Melbourne. It’s quite rare that the Discovery Centre does Adult Nights (where you can enter the centre without a kid).

Tickets to the after-party cost AU$32.50 per adult and you can get 10% offif you’re a Brickvention attendee. You do not need to attend Brickvention to buy tickets for the Afterparty.

The interactive evening will include speed-building challenges, games, workshops, face painting and snacks with plenty of LEGO prizes to be won!

If you want to spend the next hour or so reliving Brickvention, or if you want to get an idea about what to expect, feel free to check out my posts from previous years, which contain tons of photos from the convention floor.

If you’re in Melbourne next weekend and are looking for something fun to do, I’d highly recommend checking out Brickvention. I personally guarantee that you’ll have an awesome time.

Have you bought tickets to Brickvention? Let me know in the comments if you’ll be there and what you’re looking forward to seeing!

This will be my fourth brickvention and can’t wait, the creations are simply mind blowing and drawn from so many interesting themes. The monster bucket wheel excavator last year was my favourite, can’t wait to see what folks have built from the new roller coaster parts this year. Definitely recommend it for those considering attending for the first time!

Oh yeah, the Bucket Wheel was incredible. We’re definitely going to see some massive Roller Coasters. And Harry Potter builds too – hopefully a mega-sized Hogwarts!

Just booked tickets. Saturday was sold out. Thanks Jay, I had no idea it was on. Probably looking forward to it more than my kids.
