Happy Valentine’s Day!

February 14, 2015 By Jay 8 Comments

Hope you’re having a great Valentine’s Day. Whether you’re a hopeless romantic or think that the 14th of February is a load of commercially-driven rubbish, we can at least agree on one thing – that LEGO is worthy of our love.

To commemorate this sappy holiday, I’ve put together 14 photographs featuring some of my favourite LEGO couples. Be warned, if romance and mushy sentimental readings gross you out, you might want to look away.

1) Disco Guy and Girl

Valentines Day 2015 - Groovy Lovers

Disco Guy and Girl’s love is always groovy. They know how to party and are always trying to outdo each other on the dancefloor.

2) Lifeguard Guy and Girl

Valentines Day 2015 - Lifeguards in Love

It all began on a hot summer day at the beach, Lifeguard Guy couldn’t get his eyes off of his new partner, Lifeguard Girl. He is so in love with Lifeguard Girl that time seems to slow down whenever she crosses his vision.

3) Mime and Spooky Girl

Valentines Day 2015 - Monochromatic Love

To the Mime and Spooky Girl, love doesn’t come in 50 shades of grey – it’s always been black and white to them.

4) Clockwork Robot and Lady Robot

Valentines Day 2015 - Robotic Love

Can machines fall in love? Clockwork Robot and Lady Robot say yes. Although they often wind each other up, they always seem to be able to laugh it off.

5) Grandpa and Grandma

Valentines Day 2015 - Old Love

I love seeing old couples still in love. Nothing warms my heart more than the sight of an elderly couple holding hands.

6) Cavewoman and Caveman

Valentines Day 2015 - Pick up your date in style

The Caveman and Cavewoman has a love that endures the ages. Really, their relationship outlasted the dinosaurs. Don’t let his gruff exterior fool you, the Caveman is quite the romantic. He knows that to impress your date, you’re going to need a sweet ride.

7) Rocker and Rocker Girl

Valentines Day 2015 - Serenading

Want a surefire way to impress the ladies? Pick up a guitar and serenade her as best you can. If that doesn’t work, you can always resort to melting her face (and heart) by ripping into a 7 minute guitar solo.

8) Ocean King and Marsha, Queen of the Mermaids

Valentines Day 2015 - Love Under the Sea

There’s nothing fishy about love – every Ocean King needs an Ocean Queen. Despite their busy schedule ruling over the seas, they still find time to partake in each other’s company – something all couples should strive to do.

9) Cyclops and Lady Cyclops

Valentines Day 2015 - Cyclops and his Lady

Do you believe in love at first sight? The Cyclops sure does. The key to catching Lady Cyclops’ eye is to impress her with his hunting and culinary skills. The key to catching a Cyclops’ eye is much easier – just bat your eyelid and watch him swoon.

10) Marge and Homer Simpson

Valentines Day 2015 - Homer and Marge Simpson

Hollywood’s most stable couple, Marge and Homer Simpson set the gold standard for domestic longevity. Remember kids, you can be the dullest tool in the shed but if you love your wife with all your heart, all will be good.

11) Benny and Intergalactic Girl

Valentines Day 2015 - Interstellar Love

Benny and Intergalactic Girl are star-crossed lovers. Despite being a lot older than Intergalactic Girl, their relationship is as strong as Benny’s desire to construct the perfect Spaceship, Spaceship, SPACESHIP!!!

12) Librarian and Computer Geek

Valentines Day 2015 - Shy Love

Are you shy and often find the opposite sex intimidating? Wallflowers can fall in love too. Sometimes, all you need to do is lift your eyes up from your computer or book to find your perfect match.

13) Bumblebee Girl and Bunny Suit Guy

Valentines Day 2015 - Bunny and the Bee

Some people say that finding true love is as hard as finding rare Minifigures. Bumblebee Girl and Bunny Suit Guy got lucky and found each other.

14) Emmet and Wyldstyle

Valentines Day 2015 - Emmet and Wyldstyle

I hope you find your “special” this year.

Happy Valentine’s Day <3

    Aww…
The older couple reminds me of my grandparents.
(My Grandma is 70 and has a LEGO collection and plays Minecraft.)
The Computer guy and the Librarian reminds me of my parents, too.
(My mom isn’t a librarian though, she just loves books.)
Wow, who had the kissing Minifigure head?

Also, my clock is screwed. It’s not actually 1 day later. I’m still on the day before.

I’m surprised you paired the Intergalatic Girl with Benny though! I vaguely remember an actual male counterpart in one of the earlier Minifigure series…

Yup, the male counter part was from Series 1 but I thought it’d be cuter for Benny to find someone special 🙂

Raising the next generation of @lego Castle fans 🏰

Nothing makes me happier than seeing @little.ongs play with 10305 Lion Knights' Castle, which I've conveniently left in an easy to access spot in the house.

While yes, this set is big and meant for adults, the playability and story-telling is so native to kids that it's a great set to share with your kids if you have any.

👑 Having THE definitive LEGO Castle being ruled by Queen Lionne also sends a great message to little girls and a fantastic celebration of #lego90years

10305 Lion Knights' Castle launches today for VIPs and if you're lucky enough to be in the position to pick one up, I hope you enjoy and savour every moment of the build of what is quite possibly my favourite set of 2022.
