10304 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 muscles into the LEGO Icons vehicle collection!

July 12, 2022 By Jay 10 Comments

LEGO have officially unveiled 10304 Chevrolet Camaro Z28, a brand new vintage car that is designed to appeal to fans of American Muscle.

This 1,458-piece set pays homage to one of the slickest muscle cars of all time, and will be priced at US$149.99, with a release date of 1 August 2022. In Australia, the set will be released on 1 September 2022.

This set is the second LEGO Icons (formerly Creator Expert) vehicle, with April’s 10300 Back to the Future Time Machine, and is a great addition to the LEGO Icons car collection. Third if you count Optimus Prime as a LEGO Icons vehicle.

See below for regional pricing and links:

  • 10304 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 [US] – US$169.99
  • 10304 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 [AUS]  – AU$249.99
  • 10304 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 [UK] – £149.99
  • 10304 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 [EU] – €169.99
  • 10304 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 [CA] – CAD$209.99

The Camaro comes in black, the first for a LEGO Icons-scale vehicle (and very fitting colour scheme) and was designed by Sven Franic, who’s had a busy year tinkering with LEGO cars (he also designed the Delorean).

Fitting for a LEGO Icons car, the set features functional elements including a working steering wheel, an intensely detailed engine and opening and closing doors.

Allowing builders to customise the car to their desired design, the vehicle comes in gloss black with the iconic racing stripes available in red, white or grey.  You can also choose to build it as a hard top or a convertible, plus choose classic or hideaway headlights to complete the look.

I really like the customisation and personalisation options, which follows a similar trend started by 10295 Porsche 911 Turbo and 911 Targa, and 10300 Back to the Future Time Machine.

LEGO Designer Sven Franic said, “With its classic lines and sleek design, the 1969 Camaro Z28 is unrivalled in its elegance – which is why it was such a wonderful inspiration for this LEGO design. By building this set, you can envision yourself at the wheel, and all but feel the rumble of the engine taking you down an open road.”

I think the customisation options will easily win fans of American Muscle cars over, and it so far looks like a relatively easy modification job, which I hope is as easy as the Delorean’s ability to switch between the models from the 3 movies.

Here’s a look at the scale – I’m mostly excited that it’s the first black LEGO Icons car – the range has been punctuated by very bright-coloured models, so this sleeker, more MACHO version is a welcome change.

It’s absolutely going to be a dust magnet on display though, so you might need to dust this one regularly.

Check out more official photos of the 10304 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 below, and let me know what you think of the car in the comments.

10304 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 will be released on LEGO.com on 1 August 2022. Look out for a review of this beast soon!

Where did you get a price of $149.99? Because that probably would have been the price a few months ago, but today it’s $169.99.

I like that you can change its stripes and I hope that we’ll be able to find those same parts in even more colors of our own choosing.

Ok I read on another site that the $149.99 price came from official LEGO press communication. So LEGO probably set that price a while ago and neglected to verify and update it at announcement time.

Oops – the prices we were supplied with in the press release were the ones in the article. Looks like the ones on the website are the new ones with the price increase applied. I’ve fixed it up now, thanks for the heads up!

Will be on my to-buy list as I like these classic car reproductions (I wouldn’t label something made in the 50/60’s vintage!).
Not a big fan of the black; on the back of the box shows a real car in red, I’d prefer that with white stripes.
But I s’pose black keeps it in the muscle car category.
The AU price on LEGO.com has already gone up to $249.99, the new price increases are coming in real quick. 😉

Oh yikes, thanks for the heads up on the price change. This must’ve been the “new price increase” and they forgot to update the press release.

I’m disappointed it’s in black. I’d have liked a dark red with white & black speed stripes.

It won’t be too hard to modify!

Hi Jay ! Don’t you think the Mustang had some capabilities for change as well; with the adjustable rake of the car and the side pipes and the blower option on the hood ?
Either way, I love this one ! Yes, black will mean to dust it much more often than the other ones, but it’s definitely worth that. I think the model looks great, I like that it’s the same scale as the other ones (?), at least it looks like that. And I love the options for this car with the headlights, color of the stripes and convertible or not…
Overall a must buy for me, since I collect all of these anyways. I just really hope it will be available for a longer time; because I’m still waiting for the DeLorean to be available again in my closest 4 (!) Lego stores and/or online ??? (Find that quite frustrating, that the BTTF car is “not available” since the release…)

Hey Wim, I’m not sure – I haven’t built my set yet, but will let you know if it’s possible!

Hello again Jay… The Mustang comes with extra pieces to rebuild it into a hot rod looking version. With side pipes, blower on the engine, raised rear suspension and big spoiler on the trunk.

One of the rarest LEGO Architecture sets - 21021 M One of the rarest LEGO Architecture sets - 21021 Marina Bay Sands! 🇸🇬

Singapore celebrates their National Day on 9 August, and to mark the occasion, I've dug into my vault to showcase the Marina Bay Sands, one of Singapore's contemporary architectural landmarks!

Released in 2014, it's notorious for being one of the most sought-after Architecture sets, because only 10,000 copies were made.

To make matters worse, they sold exclusively in Asia in countries like Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia, and the Marina Bay Sands gift shop!

Thankfully, LEGO released a newer 21057 Singapore Skyline earlier this year which also includes the Marina Bay Sands, but this is a relic from an era where LEGO had regional exclusives in their portfolio.

Happy National Day, Singapore!
