Brickvention, one of Australia’s premier LEGO Fan Conventions returns in 2022 on 8-9 January 2022, at a brand new venue – the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre, Albert Park.
After a brief hiatus on in-person conventions in 2021 (the 2021 Brickvention show was virtual) due to the pandemic, I cannot wait to attend Brickvention in-person as I’ve sorely missed going to LEGO conventions, and Brickvention, being the main convention in my home city of Melbourne, Australia has been a staple of my LEGO life ever since I’ve exited the dark ages,
Brickvention has a new home for 2022 at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (its usual home, the Royal Exhibition Building is currently used as a Covid Vaccine Hub), but it’s also been upgraded to an LEGO AFOL Networking Event (ANE), which confers a more “global” role to Brickvention, openings its doors to LEGO fans from the world over.
Tickets are now available online and can be ordered from Brickvention’s website:
- Adults: $20.00 + Ticket Fee
- Children: $10.00 + Ticket Fee (4 – 14 years of age)
- *Children 3 years and under free
Additionally, there will be a special needs session on Sunday, 9 January 2022 @ 9:00am, designed to cater for those with special needs including those impacted by Autism Spectrum Disorders. The session environment includes low volume and less frequent announcements and fewer people.
As with most venues in Victoria, Covid-19 regulations will need to be adhered to, and you’ll need to be double-vaccinated to enter (12 years and up), or have a valid medical exemption.
I’m a little nervous as the Covid situation in Victoria is starting to spike up again, but fingers crossed there won’t be any issues with the event.
