Buying Guide: Every new LEGO set releasing in August 2022

July 27, 2022 By Jay Ong 26 Comments

August 2022 is coming up, and with it, an absolutely massive LEGO release window with a slew of awesome new sets going on sale.

August is a huge month for The LEGO Group, as the company will celebrate its 90th Anniversary on 10 August 2022, and to commemorate the milestone, we have sets like 10497 Galaxy Explorer and 10305 Lion Knights’ Castle as an ode to LEGO’s historic Classic Space and Castle themes.

Other notable launches include 76218 Sanctum Sanctorum, 10304 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 and 10306 Atari 2600, and those in North America will finally get their hands on the Summer wave of LEGO Ninjago, City, Creator 3-in-1 and Monkie Kid sets, which previously released in June elsewhere.

It’s also not just about big expensive sets, but there are several smaller, more affordable sets like 76911 007 Aston Martin DB5, 76912 Fast & Furious 1970 Dodge Charger R/T, 40574 LEGO® Brand Store and 40521 Mini Disney The Haunted Mansion to pick up as well.

Update: For those looking for 40574 LEGO® Brand Store, I’ve just heard from LEGO that this will be an in-store exclusive in North America, which is why it got removed online. Looks like you’ll have to head in-store for this one.

To help you navigate all the new LEGO releases in August 2022, here’s a comprehensive shopping guide to all the new LEGO sets available soon!

LEGO August 2022 Gift with Purchase (GWP)

So if you’re planning on picking up any of the new August 2022 sets, you may want to wait, as 40567 Forest Hideout will be making a return as a gift with purchase in August.

The Forest Hideout GWP offer will run from 2 – 14 August 2022 according to information supplied by LEGO when I reviewed the set in June. Some people online have claimed that it will be available from the 1st of August… so I’m not entirely sure who to believe as there may be a chance that they’ve adjusted the dates, so do check out the LEGO Offers and Promotions for confirmation, and of course, wait till it appears in your Shopping Cart.

Just like the previous June offer, 40567 Forest Hideout will be available from LEGO.com and your local LEGO stores, and is free with purchases of US$150 / AU$209 / £150 while stocks last.

It’s odd, because the LCS, Dreamworld and Legoland Discovery Centre Shops have it as an offer. Maybe order from them instead?

        Thanks for the suggestions!

Dreamworld unfortunately is over $40 shipping

LCS said “Unfortunately, I cannot confirm at this stage. I have checked with head office, this offer has not yet been confirmed for release. I would suggest to just keep an eye out on our site and your emails for any updates.“ and it’s not on their site that I can see atm

Discovery centre is a good idea but they still have the castle as coming soon (after midnight so it’s the 3rd now) so might have to wait until it’s not a vip pre release

          Quick update

Dreamworld ended up being $20 shipping (I had tested pre-release with another large box that had come to over $40) so I ordered from them (essentially paying $20 for the forest hideout). Was able to call them after ordering to ensure they had gwp stock left

Discovery centre replied “The castle is only available for annual Pass holders until it’s release on 8th August. We have plenty of the gifts in stock” – so this could be a good avenue for people if they can wait

          Great blog Jay!

So just heard from a rep at LEGO – it looks like the LEGO Brand Store is meant to be an in-store exclusive in North America, which is why it was removed online.

Not sure if this is temporary, but quite disappointing.

I spoke with customer service by phone and was told the deal went live at midnight August 1st. The deal was posted on LEGO site when I placed my order but ran out. I did receive an email after inquiriry as well.

“Thanks for reaching out about the gift with purchase.

We had anticipated that set Forest Hideout to be a popular set, but unfortunately it looks like from the time you placed your order to the time it was received at the warehouse, it had gone out of stock. We make a certain amount of promo sets and once they’re sold out, they don’t come back.”

I had placed my order at 8:15 AM August 1st EST, LEGO processed it around 8:30 AM.

It was a massive release window with so many big sets releasing – not surprised it went fast!

At least you guys got it online, Australia got shafted because they directed all the GWPs in-store, so we had nothing online 🙁

My wallet just ran out the door. Some prices are nasty but some are totally okay with me. Some great items coming out, loving the Speed Champions, I have been trying to get all of them but not quick enough or not prepared to pay the price.

They’re pretty affordable when they go on sale, or at Kmart. Keep an eye out during sales!

Look for a layby option. I save money from collecting the 10cent bottles and cans for Lego.

Any news or rumours about upcoming botanic sets or more architecture sets like the pyramid? Those two themes are my favs and I got the pyramid and orchid just a week ago and they are so nice to look at. I want more ancient buildings reimagined from it’s heyday not ruins like the colosseum. A minoan temple or pompeii house would be awesome. A couple of cacti would be cool too.

I’m not sure if we’ll get any more Botanical sets this year. They tend to release at the start of the year, however they could release one for the end of the year, but it’s hard to say.

As for Architecture, it’s also hard to say as well, as the theme doesn’t really have a rapid release schedule.

I’d love a Minoan Temple, or personally, a Chichen Itza in that vein.

Did you know that Fiona, the @lego Friends florist Did you know that Fiona, the @lego Friends florist is one of the first minidolls depicted with Down Syndrome?

Fiona works at the flower stall on Unity Street from 41732 Friends Downtown Flower and Design Stores

She is described as being 'good at crafts and decorating, and knows all the flower species by name.'

It's World Down Syndrome Day today and I think it's remarkable and very important for LEGO to enhance the perspectives of children on neurodiversity, physical disabilities, ethnicity and mental health, as they've done with the LEGO Friends reboot.

Here's my review of one of the most anticipate @LE Here's my review of one of the most anticipate @LEGO Disney sets - 43217 'Up' House ahead of its release on 1 April 2023!

This set is a dream come true for many Pixar fans, and we finally get a cute, compact and great looking Up House.

It has plenty of references to the movie, and Carl's everlasting love of Ellie, his late-wife which will absolutely delight fans.

Despite a strong lineup of minifigures (including an awesome Dug mould), the set's incredibly expensive pricetag (US$59.99/AU$89.99) doesn't feel like good value, especially with Kevin nowhere to be found.

Here's a look at 40587 Easter Basket, an incredibl Here's a look at 40587 Easter Basket, an incredibly affordable and attainable GWP that's available from 16 March!

It will be a GWP when you spend US$70 / €70 / £65 from 16 March - 9 April.

Lots of things to like here, as the design is cute, and the build is surprisingly technical, and it blends both Botanical and Animal construction.

Also like that the redemption period stretches into April, so if you have the Indiana Jones, Disney 100, or Guardians of the Galaxy sets on your radar, it should be an easy one to qualify for!

Such a breath of fresh air to get such a substantial GWP without having to spend hundreds of dollars. More like this please, LEGO!
