Don’t buy the LEGO 76210 Hulkbuster (yet)

So the massive and expensive 4,049-piece LEGO Hulkbuster goes on sale today for LEGO VIPs, and if you have US$549.99 to drop on the biggest LEGO Hulkbuster yet you might want to wait, or avoid it all together.

76210 Hulkbuster goes on sale today for LEGO VIPs (be logged in if you want to order one), ahead of a 9 November general release.

I don’t usually recommend NOT getting sets as most of what LEGO puts out is generally pretty good, and there’s a niche for everyone (even sets like 76215 Black Panther) but I think the Hulkbuster is an exception.

This isn’t a good set, as evidenced from poor reviews from my peers BricksetTiago Catarino, and AshnFlash among others.

That said, if you’re a big Iron Man or mech fan, you could perhaps be persuaded, BUT… even if you have the 2022 Hulkbuster in your sights, now is not a good time to pick one up.

For starters, there aren’t any good offers, or even decent GWPs (gift with purchase) that scream buy me. Unless you want a fleece blanket or VIP polybags.

I’d also wait until a Double or Triple VIP event if you plan on getting the Hulkbuster to make the most out of what is a very big purchase.

OR if you’re like me, I’m waiting on a substantial discount as I don’t see this selling well at all. I’m talking 30-40% off before I even consider pulling the trigger.

I’m really conflicted about 76210 Hulkbuster as I collect LEGO mechs, and buy nearly every single mech produced by LEGO. I also like Hulkbusters, and as you can see, have a little Hulkbuster family going.

I have a soft spot for the very first playset version – 76031 Hulkbuster Smash, and also the first big Hulkbuster, 2018’s 76105 The Hulkbuster: Ultron Edition.

Despite the negative reviews, I was thinking hard about whether to pick 76210 Hulkbuster up, but ultimately, I decided to wait till it goes on sale before picking one up. I’m just a sucker for Hulkbusters, and I think I can tolerate the set’s flaws, but not for AU$849.99.

If you’re planning on getting 76210 Hulkbuster, please consider using these affiliate links above, as I may receive a small commission with each purchase that goes a long way in supporting the work I do on the blog!

Will you be picking up the Hulkbuster at launch, or are you waiting for a better GWP, offer or sale?

Lego should. The right thing would have been to cancel the launch of this, take it back to the drawing board, remove the feature of putting an Iron Man in it that two people will try, and putting out a good set. Come out and say “the set was not to the high standards we strive for and will be making changes”. I hope they stopped production as soon as they saw the reviews because they’ll never sell what they already packaged.

I wonder if some fans might upload alternative instructions, that’d remove the buildable Iron Man driving compartment, but modify its proportions to be closer to the original on-screen material.
