Event: Join me at the Melbourne Brickstameet

June 15, 2016 By Jay 8 Comments

Melbourne Brickstameet June 2016

Do you love photography, Instagram and LEGO and reside in Melbourne? This coming Saturday (18 June), Melbourne’s leading LEGO Instagrammers @cheepjokes, @Brett_Wilson, @TheShortNews & @LLWorld are hosting a Brickstameet in the CBD.

The LEGO-themed Instagram meetup will take you through a guided walking photography tour of my beloved city with a special twist – you’ll be experiencing and photographing Melbourne through the eyes of a LEGO minifigure!

You may think you know the streets and laneways of Melbourne, but the most awesome city in Australia (take that, Sydney) is an entirely different world when viewed from a minifig’s perspective.

You don’t need to be an Instagram user to participate as all LEGO & photography fans are welcome to come along. Read up on my experience at my first Brickstameet late last year where I got to interview and speak to the organisers. They’re all lovely people, very chill and great company to be around.

Calling all Instagramers and photographers! Please join @cheepjokes myself and other locals for a day of @LEGO photography. For more information head to the link in @cheepjokes bio and I hope to see you there! ? #Brickstameet

I’d also love to meet some of my readers in real life! As a special bonus, if you’re a Jay’s Brick Blog reader and attending the Brickstameet, come say hi and tell me the password “HAIL HYDRA”! First 3 people to do so gets a special gift! In case you don’t know what I look like, I’ll be wearing a tan trenchcoat over a red jumper!

Hope to see you there! If you can’t make it, you can always follow the action on Instagram by checking out the #brickstameet hashtag!

See ya on Saturday!

One of the rarest LEGO Architecture sets - 21021 M One of the rarest LEGO Architecture sets - 21021 Marina Bay Sands! 🇸🇬

Singapore celebrates their National Day on 9 August, and to mark the occasion, I've dug into my vault to showcase the Marina Bay Sands, one of Singapore's contemporary architectural landmarks!

Released in 2014, it's notorious for being one of the most sought-after Architecture sets, because only 10,000 copies were made.

To make matters worse, they sold exclusively in Asia in countries like Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia, and the Marina Bay Sands gift shop!

Thankfully, LEGO released a newer 21057 Singapore Skyline earlier this year which also includes the Marina Bay Sands, but this is a relic from an era where LEGO had regional exclusives in their portfolio.

Happy National Day, Singapore!

Raising the next generation of @lego Castle fans 🏰

Nothing makes me happier than seeing @little.ongs play with 10305 Lion Knights' Castle, which I've conveniently left in an easy to access spot in the house.

While yes, this set is big and meant for adults, the playability and story-telling is so native to kids that it's a great set to share with your kids if you have any.

👑 Having THE definitive LEGO Castle being ruled by Queen Lionne also sends a great message to little girls and a fantastic celebration of #lego90years

10305 Lion Knights' Castle launches today for VIPs and if you're lucky enough to be in the position to pick one up, I hope you enjoy and savour every moment of the build of what is quite possibly my favourite set of 2022.
