First look at 71741 Ninjago City Gardens – coming 14 January!

Update: More official photos of 71741 Ninjago City Gardens have surfaced!

Ninjago City Gardens will be released on LEGO.com on 14 January 2021 for VIP members. Make sure you’re logged into your VIP account to order!

Thanks to Brickset, we have our very first preview of LEGO 71741 Ninjago City Gardens, the third companion set to Ninjago City and Ninjago City Docks!

First of all, this looks incredible, and if you loved Ninjago City, this is a must-buy thanks to its futuristic cyberpunk architecture blended with traditional Japanese architecture.

Here’s a look at the minifigures included, with a limited edition Golden Sensei Wu to celebrate Ninjago’s 10th Anniversary.

71741 Ninjago City Gardens will have a VIP release date of 14 January, ahead of a global launch of 1 February 2021 and will cost CAD$399.

Update: The Australian price will be AU$499.99 – accidentally confirmed by an errant Toyworld listing

I’m super excited for this and have some new Ninjago Reviews coming up, so keep an eye out for them in the next few days!

Let me know what you think in the comments!

The Ninjago items are especially interesting. Much attention to detail. No doubt others will be looking for different features, but for me (and I have been putting LEGOs together since the beginning) these are as interesting as most of the Harry Potters and assorted buildings.

  2. Michael says:

    GIVE ME CLUTCH POWERS NOW

  3. Andrew says:

Wow. Was trying to whittle down the wishlist but with sets like this there’s no hope. Ninjago City is a riot, this looks every bit as good – and bigger.

  4. Vector says:

A comment on another fan’s blog brought up how they thought this looks like a building’s facade, with no content or depth behind it. I hope that’s not true… I feel bad about not buying Ninjago City in 2017, and this is my chance to redeem myself!

It looks like this one is supposed to be based on the TV show, finally escaping its association with the movie’s maelstrom of mediocrity. The movie ninja faces used on the TV characters still weird me out, though…

    • Jay says:

The photos are a little grainy, but if they follow Ninjago City’s lead, there’ll hopefully be plenty of cool interior details. From the price, it does seem like it’s a lot more accessible, so the “hollowed out” comment might be justified.

I haven’t watched any of the TV shows, so hopefully it won’t be too hard to relate to!

  5. Anthony says:

Ninjago has become my favourite series. The designers have made sets in recent times that are quite beautiful to look at, interesting to build and modify. I have no interest in the series or storyline’s.

Temple of Airjitsu still looks magnificent in my city along with the docks, destiny’s bounty and city sets.

I’ll get this at some stage, remove all the weapons etc and make room for it in my city

    • Jay says:

Same here, although I haven’t built a lot of the sets. I have been stockpiling a lot of Ninjago to file in my “one day I’ll build them” pile.

  6. Mark cento says:

Yes! Have held off building the city and docks – just wsiting for this one.

  7. Mark P says:

Wow, that looks amazing! Day one purchase for me, if the credit card can handle it.
The colour usage, the part count, the minifigs, wow! I really appreciate that Lego have continued this series, even though it’s not a huge seller.

    • Jay says:

Same here! It is Ninjago’s 10th Anniversary this year, so there’s plenty of Ninjago love in store for us!

I think most AFOLs underestimate just how popular Ninjago is! It’s been such a consistently good theme for LEGO and I hope it goes from strength to strength!

  8. Gina says:

    I can’t wait, love it.

  9. Tom Benda says:

I’m not a big fan of the Ninjago story and minifigs, but I love the architectural skills shown there. So just wow! Looking forward to having this one. Twice or more 😂
