Thanks to Reddit user /u/lord_polo121, we have our first sneak peek at a new LEGO Shang-Chi set – 76177 Battle at the Ancient Village.
Before you get too excited and rush out to stores in hopes of finding this set, it appears that Israeli store The Brick has accidentally started selling this set, ahead of the release date, or even official reveal of the set!

The set, which features a massive dragon with clear East-Asian influences and four minifigures – Shang-Chi, Xialing, Wenwu and a Death Dealer.
Also included is a strange moth-like creature Morris, which is based on a Dijang, a mythological Chinese creature that has “six legs and four wings, but no eyes or facial features of any kind, living in a perpetual state of confusion. It is also fond of singing and dancing”.
The movie Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, which introduces East Asian superhero Shang-Chi to the MCU was meant to be released in May 2021, but has now been delayed further to September 2021, so the release date of this set is probably now up in the air.
With the original premiere date of May, I expect the planned release of LEGO Shang-Chi sets to be in April, but Disney/Marvel would probably like this set to be released closer to the theatric release, lest the fate of the Wonder Woman 84 set befalls it where it was released so far in advance that no one knew the significance of the set/characters.
Let me know in the comments about your thoughts on the LEGO Shang-Chi set. Does it matter if a set is released early without a movie to accompany it?

I hope the Dijiang is available on Bricks & Pieces so I can build an army of them!
Oooh, that’s an idea I’m definitely gonna steal. They look so bizarre!
Interesting set… funny it was released early. The winged creature looks cool and I’m gonna have to do some research on what seems to be the ‘villain’ of the set
I think the villain is meant to be The Mandarin. Wonder if Ben Kingsley will make a return, or we’ll get the “real” Mandarin.
Definitely pretty interesting that a set has been accidentally “released” so early — not too sure how I feel about the set itself though. The dragon is long, but very skinny and isn’t that impressive looking in my opinion.
Seems to be a recurring issue – logistics problems means LEGO is shipping out sets way earlier than normal, and when retailers receive the sets, they’re usually oblivious to release dates and accidentally put them on shelves.
Dragon looks like a prawn to me!
That is one cool looking dragon.
Even with no context from the movie, it’s a cool looking dragon, so I’m in!! Thanks for the information.
