LEGO has recently updated the Japanese brand catalogue to the second half of 2021 (2HY) version and in the process revealed a whole slew of new sets due to hit shelves in the second half of the year!
Update: Looks like the link/catalogue has been pulled, but if you have the LEGO 3D Catalogue App, you can still view the catalogue by selecting the Japanese calendar in the dropdown.
Without further ado, let’s check out the juiciest reveals!
LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Advent Calendar – September 2021
Undoubtedly THE most exciting reveal is LEGO’s FIRST EVER Marvel Super Heroes advent calendar featuring mini-builds and minifigures from Marvel Comics!
The small image reveals Black Widow, Thor, Spider-Man, Thanos and a Snowman Iron Man armour as well as Iron Man in a festive Christmas jumper.
Must. Buy and you can absolutely expect me to do a daily countdown with this calendar in December!
Star Wars Advent Calendar 2021 – The Mandalorian – September 2021
Another excellent surprise is that the 2021 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar will be entirely based on The Mandalorian!
Baby Yoda aka Grogu in a festive Christmas outfit is going to cause Mando fans to go absolutely bonkers. Mando in a red scarf is also neat, but let’s be honest – we’ll all buy this for Christmas Baby Yoda minifigure.

New LEGO City subtheme – Stuntz – October 2021
These new LEGO City Stuntz will also be available in October 2021, and look like LEGO’s take on Hot Wheels.
For us LEGO oldies, it looks like they’ve dug into the archives to LEGO Racers for inspiration!

Dave says
Thanks for the thorough report Jay. I’m excited for all the new Mandolorian and Clone War sets. My only disappointment is that the Slave 1. I was really hoping it would come with Fennec Shand. Would have made more sense from a story perspective. Mando comes in quite a few sets now and Fennec in just one big, pricey one (barring an appearance in the Advent Calendar), so it’s a shame. Even Mayfeld would have been a nice inclusion over Mando. I’m still eager to see the full specs on all the new sets, so thanks for keeping us up to date.
Jay says
Thanks Dave, and yes, I agree with Fennec. Seems odd to only include 2 minifigs in the Slave 1 but I’m cautiously optimistic that this will bring the price down.
But yes, here’s hoping we get Mayfield soon, so I can finally fulfill my dream of owning a Bill Burr minifigure.
What I can say about the Light Cruiser is that the photos don’t do the size/scale justice, so I expect many people to be delighted!
Mark P says
New Unimog looks… slightly disappointing. Old ones were so beautiful, so hard-core. This one just looks like another Control+ chassis with chunky tyres. No pneumatics, no suspension, no winch. Sigh.
The tow truck rescue vehicle looks fun though!
Jay says
Yeah, this one feels very chunky. I hope this means that there’ll be more substantial Technic sets (18+ style) in the wings.
Terrence Myers says
Ah man, the mandolorian is THE ONLY star wars calendar this year? That sucks. Easy pass for me.
Jay says
Yeah, it’s the only one – hopefully we’ll still get OT-builds like X-Wings, Tattooine-related models, so it’s not all bad.
Paul Castle says
So, the Mandalorian Advent calendar is THE Star Wars Advent calendar this year, and not in addition to it? Phew! I thought for a moment that I might have to spend silly in September 🙂
My choice is then: Harry Potter or Marvel?
Dario says
Amen, Brother !
I was already planning on Friends, City, Star Wars as we do every year (kids and me), and now I had to add Mandalorian (dog) and Marvel (cat).
But now I only have to convince the dog to play along – better, as the cat is an a*hole 😉
Paul Castle says
If the dog has one, the cat will claim it 🙂
Jay says
Marvel for sure!
Ian Hazlehurst says
Ooh Mandalorian Advent calendar oh yes please, but am I missing something here? 2021 is almost half way through, so why are they 2021 sets ?
Paul Castle says
There’s always new sets each season, these are the Autumn reveals, and then no doubt Winter will be high on the Christmassy.
Jay says
LEGO tends to split their year up in 2 halves (commonly known as 1HY and 2HY) so they’re still counted as 2021 sets – just released in the second half of the year!
