LEGO 40530 Jane Goodall Tribute GWP revealed for International Women’s Day 2022!

February 26, 2022 By Jay 5 Comments

A LEGO Certified Store in Singapore has given us our first official look at the upcoming March 2022 LEGO gift with purchase (GWP) – a tribute to world renowned ethologist and primatologist Jane Goodall!

40530 Jane Goodall Tribute will be available from 3 March 2022 onwards in commemoration of International Women’s Day, which falls on 8 March 2022.

Update: The LEGO Jane Goodall Tribute set will be available as a gift with purchase from 3 – 15 March 2022 on LEGO.com or your local LEGO store, and will be free with purchases of  US$120 / €120 / £120.

Update (3/3): The set has been delayed in Australia due to shipping and customs delays. LEGO Australia have provided a tentative date of 8 March of when you can expect the set on LEGO.com/LEGO Certified Stores/Legoland Discovery Centre, but due to the floods in NSW, it might be delayed further.

Check out my review of the LEGO Jane Goodall Tribute set to see more of the upcoming GWP!

The release date is likely to be the same worldwide, and in Singapore, the gift with purchase has a threshold of S$165, suggesting that we might have a high threshold for this one.

If you’re holding out on jumping on all the exciting March 2022 releases, you might want to wait till the 3rd to pull the trigger, especially if you’re shopping on LEGO.com or your local LEGO store to not miss out on the Jane Goodall GWP.

The set features a rainforest diorama, with some fantastic landscaping, and an exclusive Jane Goodall minifigure, which I must say is a spitting image of Dr Jane Goodall. The set also comes with 3 apes, representing the chimpanzees that Dr Jane Goodall studied.

This is a follow-up to last year’s International Women’s Day gwp – 40450 Amelia Earheart Tribute which paid homage to the aviation pioneer.

It’s fantastic to see what seems like an annual LEGO International Women’s Day build, and I’m sure the Jane Goodall Tribute will look great next to Amelia Earhart.

Props to @brickfinder for the tip-off with this!

Interesting…did you know this Jane Goodall was an unsuccessful Lego Ideas set from 2018?

She’s a fairly important pioneer in science, so not too surprised that there’d be LEGO Ideas submissions, especially those trying to emulate the success of Women of NASA/Research Institute.

There was also an Amelia Earhart set that crossed 10k votes way back in 2019!

Not trying to offend the designer I’m sure they worked hard on this but IMO the build looks like something you’d find from a knock off brand. Compared to the Earhart build, that I loved and made a great shelf piece, this just looks like a random mess.

Maybe it’s Just me but this is a huge departure from what I thought they were trying to do with this GWP yearly idea. They keep pushing the price higher and higher for GWP for lower quality items.

The base doesn’t even have the same big beveled pieces rounding it off so they don’t even have that consistency between them. At that point it should have just been a big chimpanzee build that came with a minifig and stand if they already don’t look like they come from the same line.

With all the ways we have learned to build interesting trees and environments I’m shocked this looks like something I build in 5min messing around with pick a brick parts.

Also no stickers or printed parts other than the name plate. The stickers gave that little airplane so much life and energy.

Lego really dropped the ball on this one bc they think people will shell out money on something they deem as rare or collectable instead of letting us use our eyes to decide. I hope these end up on the clearance shelves bc I don’t see people pushing $200 on a whim to get this.

Just like with the Earhart set in is absolute bs that this isn’t a stand alone product.

Raising the next generation of @lego Castle fans 🏰

Nothing makes me happier than seeing @little.ongs play with 10305 Lion Knights' Castle, which I've conveniently left in an easy to access spot in the house.

While yes, this set is big and meant for adults, the playability and story-telling is so native to kids that it's a great set to share with your kids if you have any.

👑 Having THE definitive LEGO Castle being ruled by Queen Lionne also sends a great message to little girls and a fantastic celebration of #lego90years

10305 Lion Knights' Castle launches today for VIPs and if you're lucky enough to be in the position to pick one up, I hope you enjoy and savour every moment of the build of what is quite possibly my favourite set of 2022.
