LEGO 76218 Sanctum Sanctorum (2022) revealed: a LEGO Marvel modular!

LEGO have officially unveiled the 2022 version of Doctor Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum – 76218 Sanctum Sanctorum, coming to you in August 2022!

This 2,708 piece set will be the most detailed Sanctum Sanctorum set yet, dwarfing the 2019 version, which only had half a facade. 76218 Sanctum Sanctorum takes inspiration from LEGO’s Modular Buildings range, and feature floors that you can separate, as well as likely compatibility with other modulars buildings as it’s a fully-fledged structure.

The set will retail for US$249.99 / €249.99 and will be available from LEGO.com on 1 August 2022.

The set comes with a very respectable 9 minifigures – Doctor Strange, Iron Man, Spider-Man, The Scarlet Witch, Wong, Ebony Maw, Sinister Strange, Dead Strange and Master Mordo.

See below for regional pricing and product links when they go live

The top story houses the museum of mystical collections, the middle section contains the library and at ground-level there are familiar features both inside and out.

Here’s a closer look at the minifigures featured on the box art

The minifigures are a bit of a mixed bag. I LOVE Spider-Man’s new suit, which has detailed leg and arm printing, in his “Stark suit”, which will please a lot of fans.

Ebony Maw has a much better face, but like Wong & Scarlet Witch, they both don’t have leg printing, which is honestly quite shocking for a set that’s priced at US$249.99.

If they can have incredibly detailed leg printing on the minifigure from the Marvel Studios Minifigures Series, it’s inexcusable that she just has plain black legs here. I understand that in the movie, she is wearing black pants, but some additional fabric detail would’ve been nice.

The building also features Gargantos (aka Shuma Gorath), attacking it, which is a nice tie-in to the Multiverse of Madness Movie. I haven’t watched the movie yet… so I can’t really tell if the scenes are movie-accurate.

There are some cool features hidden inside, with plenty of references and Easter Eggs – I particularly like the poster featuring The Ancient One in the attic.

That said, I really like this, and for fans who have been wanting a highly detailed Sanctum Sanctorum, they’ll get their wish now, and with the printed glass dome details, there’s a lot to like here.

Modular fans will especially enjoy how 76218 Sanctum Sanctorum is essentially a pseudo-modular, and this should be really fun and easy to integrate into your modular building street.

76218 Sanctum Sanctorum will be released on 1 August 2022, and will be available from LEGO.com or your local LEGO store.

Look out for an early review of the set in the coming weeks!

What do you think of the Sanctum Sanctorum set? Does it live up to the hype?

I will be getting this regardless. Doctor Strange is my favourite Marvel character when I read the comics as a kid.

However, I find this a little lazy. It is a blend of Infinity War and Multiverse of Madness. I wish it was just MoM. But I won’t complain about another Ebony Maw minifigure.

Dormammu would have been good too.

  2. This looks like an amazing set. Seems like a missed opportunity to not include the ancient one. I would have rather had her than the iron man mk 50 yet again.

The build looks absolutely spectacular. I’m not a fan of the modular style since it seems using it for play would be difficult (the Bugle can remove the walls to allow better access and it doesnt seem possible here)

…saying that though, the minifigs should ALL have leg and arm printing as standard on a set this expensive. This was also a big problem with the figs in the Bugle set (but that was kinda made up for by the sheer number of figures), but this has far fewer figs, so extra printing should have been standard on all of them. Its really lazy from lego here.

Overall its a mixed bag for me. I’ll probably invest in the Bugle before I get this one and maybe just MOC up my Infinity War sanctum instead
