LEGO 76956 T. Rex Breakout featuring THAT Jurassic Park scene revealed!

February 11, 2022 By Jay 20 Comments

LEGO Jurassic Park fans are in for an absolute treat in 2022 – Target.com has revealed an upcoming Jurassic Park LEGO set – 76956 T. Rex Breakout – a small diorama and playset based on one of the most iconic scenes from the first Jurassic Park.

The set, which will go on pre-order in a few hours features a brick-built Tyrannosaurus Rex, and (FINALLY) a Jurassic Park jeep in the right colours. There’s also a second squashed Jurassic Park Jeep in the mud as well.

Update: The product page is now up on LEGO.com, and the set has a release date of 17 April 2022, and can be pre-ordered now!

  • 76956 T. rex Breakout [US] – US$99.99
  • 76956 T. rex Breakout [AUS] – AU$199.99
  • 76956 T. rex Breakout [GB] – £89.99
  • 76956 T. rex Breakout [EU] – €99.99
  • 76956 T. rex Breakout [CA] – CAD$129.99

Note on availability: This is a Target exclusive in the US, but like most other LEGO sets – it will also likely be available from LEGO.com, or your local LEGO store. LEGO have stopped doing regional exclusives regular sets.

There’s no pricing or release date yet, but going by the 2 newly revealed LEGO Jurassic World Dominion sets, you should expect this on 17 April 2022.

The set includes 4 minifigures – Alan Grant, Ian Malcolm, and the kids Lex and Tim Murphy who are covered in mud.

Here’s an alternate view that gives you a better look at the T-Rex.

Hilariously, and to boost the displayability, there’s also a printed LEGO Jurassic plaque, as well as a printed tile with Ian Malcolm’s “Boy, do I hate being right all the time”.

This looks like a more accessible and easier to display version of 75936 Jurassic Park T. Rex Rampage, with a much smaller Tyrannosaurs Rex.

This is an absolute winner for me, and with Jurassic World Dominion hitting theatres soon, I for one am looking forward to the Jurassic Park/World resurgence!

Will you spare no expense and pick this set up?

As a fan of the 1st movie I would love this for my lego collection. Some of them are in display cases and I wonder what would be the backdrop of the display case for this set?

This is amazing and an authentic looking set just disappointing that the Australia-tax is back in play; $100US or $200AUD that is a huge price disparity.

The set looks great but the Australian price is very disappointing. Seems much higher than other markets.

    Pedantry warning!

The vehicle in this scene is a first generation did explorer. There’s a scene a little later in the movie when the t Rex gives chase to a vehicle – THAT was the Jeep 🤓

Side note: this is such a cool set!

I hope Lego will make it available for the rest of the world as well. Idiotic to release it at an US only store chain 😐

No, it should be available worldwide. Target as the retailer is US-only and it will also be available from LEGO.com or LEGO Brand Retail Stores.

Oh wow – this is awesome. Just pointing out that those aren’t the Jeeps – those are the Ford Explorers. They are still great to get.

Raising the next generation of @lego Castle fans 🏰

Nothing makes me happier than seeing @little.ongs play with 10305 Lion Knights' Castle, which I've conveniently left in an easy to access spot in the house.

While yes, this set is big and meant for adults, the playability and story-telling is so native to kids that it's a great set to share with your kids if you have any.

👑 Having THE definitive LEGO Castle being ruled by Queen Lionne also sends a great message to little girls and a fantastic celebration of #lego90years

10305 Lion Knights' Castle launches today for VIPs and if you're lucky enough to be in the position to pick one up, I hope you enjoy and savour every moment of the build of what is quite possibly my favourite set of 2022.
