LEGO and Adidas drop a LEGO Basketball Apparel Collection

If you thought the buildable LEGO Adidas Superstar was the last we’d hear from LEGO and Adidas, well they’re not done yet.

LEGO and Adidas have just unveiled a LEGO Adidas Basketball collection on the Adidas US website featuring apparel, and youth/kids basketball shoes featuring 3 of their signature NBA superstars – James Harden, Damian Lillard, and Donovan Mitchell.

The release date for these will be 19th October 2021, and availability will vary according to region. For example, I bought the Damian Lillard t-shirt months ago, but these new hoodies and sweatshirts are new, but don’t seem to be listed online on the Adidas Australia store.

Moving on from shoes and sports apparel, and accessories, this collection reimagines three of these NBA superstars as LEGO minifigures which begs the question – is LEGO readying some sort of LEGO Minifigure versions of these NBA stars?

The LEGO x Adidas Basketball collection includes apparel for adults such as a Donovan Mitchell Pullover, James Harden Crewneck with minifigure heads, as well as adult, kids and youth-sized t-shirts of LEGO Donovan Mitchell, Damian Lillard, and James Harden.

It doesn’t seem like there are adult-sized basketball shoes, but on offer are these LEGO Adidas Dame Extply 7s, as well as a pair of Donovan Mitchell’s signature D.O.N. Issue #3 shoes, featuring a repeating pattern of LEGO Donovan Mitchell all over the shoe, and the tongue.

The yellow D.O.N. Issue #3s aren’t on the site yet, but should hopefully go up soon.

If you’re into basketball, or the NBA, these should pique your interest, especially as the NBA seasons starts on the 19th of October, and if you’re a fan of these teams, or NBA stars, and love LEGO, these are definitely targeted at you.

Myself? I hope this is just the beginning, and we’ll see more LEGO NBA sets or minifigures of some of the world’s best known basketball players – which will be tricky, as LEGO has a partnership with Adidas, and not the NBA, but hey, I wouldn’t mind bringing these spring-legged minifigures back.
