LEGO.com has unveiled the LEGO City 2023 sets featuring an interesting variety of LEGO City staples like Police, Fire, Stuntz but also some Animal Rescue and Off-road-type sets.
The new LEGO City sets will be released from 1 January 2023 onwards. Pricing is still unknown for most markets, but will update this post when more becomes clear and they get added to LEGO.com.
The selection in 2023 also looks to strive to reflect more contemporary City life, with a Gaming Truck among other things that features a gamers duelling it out on screens.
Instead of a proper City Police force, there’s an interesting educational twist, with Police Academy sets, featuring all sorts of training situations for LEGO City police cadets, which is a fresh twist on Police sets!

Dobrý deň chcel by som sa spýtať že aké lego city témy prídu v lete 2023?
Håkan says
Mostly interested in the German Shepherd puppy and the new hairpieces. I might possibly go and snag them separately…
Reader says
Jay, most (if not, all) of these sets are on Lego Australia > Coming Soon section. E.g. Penguin Slushy Van: https://www.lego.com/en-au/product/penguin-slushy-van-60384 for $32.99.
It’s good to see the road plates being dropped from the sets. There seems to be more of a focus on vehicles and less on building facades. The new sets look more reasonably priced. Many of them could easily be gifted on a whim or be added to a cart for GWPs.
Any clues on what the Explorers subtheme might be?
Jay says
Oh I’m aware, but it’s very time consuming to download the images, write these up and ensure that I get global pricing, so these will be updated soon!
I’m only a one-man band, PLUS it’s Advent Season PLUS, I’ve got 2023 set reviews, so apologies if I’m a little slow linking everything up, and swapping images over.
It’s the busiest time of the year!
Reader says
Not a problem and no rush! Just letting you know. 🙂
SpeakingJargon says
“Absolute rubbish lego.”
“Can’t Lego keep their disgusting colours to the Friend sets? Yuk!”
🤣
Insane comments aside, I love the non-Fire/Police sets for this wave (give it up folks, these are perennial subthemes). Looking forward to getting my hands on those otters and the recolored penguin costume!
Emily says
Love the otters! Definitely getting that set, especially as it will be inexpensive.
Dom says
Lego city is either the safest city or most dangerous city in the world. So many cops.
Lego Group, do better. A city isn’t just police and fire stations.
Vector says
Yeah, I’m getting real bored of how many police and fire stations there are too. Maybe kids do love paying cops and firefighters, but they could also love other things in the city, if only there were more of those sets.
Mike says
Absolute rubbish lego. This will be the second year in row I will not be buying any lego city sets. You failed again
jal11180 says
Your parents failed first.
DiceAdmiral says
I like the slushie truck but it looks like it’s 90% the same as the ice cream truck from 2021.
Styro says
Glad there aren’t road plates included in these sets, which I felt drove up the cost and resulted in smaller buildings.
jal11180 says
Why can we not go with the retro road plates? People want them instead of the horrible new ones.
Langxia says
Keep the Stuntz bikes coming. They are great quality and the kids love em.
TampaTony says
LEGO!!!!! Bring back 1980s & 1990s style city/town sets. Most of this garbage being released are recycled sets year after year. Unoriginal. Impractical for a real city. Only a handful of these 2023 sets would fit in my Lego city.
Demarcation Media says
Am I the only one who very much dislikes Lego’s new bright light-yellow color that they insist on using for all Fire sets, and many of the other sets? It looks very cheap to me.
jal11180 says
Yellow tends to be used a lot in real life fire trucks whenever red, white, fluorescent yellow, or fluorescent green are not used.
Jason says
I love the steer loader! I drive that and a mixer truck for a precast concert company. I i got the mixer truck kit and now looking forward to purchasing this one and putting together a scene from work! Thanks for the info!
simon noel says
Are these City Sets or Friends? Can’t Lego keep their disgusting colours to the Friend sets? Yuk!
jal11180 says
You literally sound more autistic than myself with your comment, and I actually HAVE autism in real life!
Susan Capps-Jenner says
Some brilliant set looking forward to the releases
