LEGO City 40578 Sandwich Shop gift with purchase (GWP) revealed!

Thanks to Japanese LEGO news site stds.jp, we have our very first look at an upcoming September gift with purchase 40578 Sandwich Shop.

Update: the LEGO 40578 Sandwich Shop is now available as a gift with purchase (GWP), in Australia, the UK and Europe and will be free when you purchase AU$179, £90 or €90 or more on LEGO.com from 16 – 30 September 2022, while stocks last.

Unfortunately, it looks like it’s been delayed for those in North America.

It’s a fun little addition to your LEGO City, with a small Sandwich shop, and even a food delivery rider ready to pick up and deliver online orders.

In Japan, the promotion will begin on 16 September, and will be free with purchases of 12,000 yen (approx US$87) or more , and at time of posting, it’s not confirmed whether the dates will align globally, but this should give you a close approximation of when to plan your purchases to get your hands on it.

It’s a pretty cute set, and I like the idea of having more food-based shops/stands like these to feed the hungry citizens of LEGO City.

The design does seem to heavily reference a classic Town set – 6683 Burger Stand, with a serving window, and table with parasol outside. Times have definitely changed, and LEGO City does look like its moving on from a diet of Pizza Shop and Burgers to more health-conscious Sandwich options.

Keep an eye out for this one some time in September!

Is this blonde person’s hair seen in other sets – which ones!? – I haven’t seen it before 🙂

  2. Lol says:

I still don’t get why people buy Lego when you get better quality for 20% the money from other companies.

    • Roflmao says:

Don’t play dumb lol. You can’t name a better quality brick set company, especially for “20% the money”

    • GURVINDER SINGH GANDU says:

Correct. Sembo Block, Mould King, Cada, etc have much better designs at cheaper prices and the quality is the same if not better than lego which has had their quality control drop in the past years

  3. Dave says:

Just what I need. I’m building a camp site, using the lego campers and caravans and this will fit right in. As part of the entrance to the camp ground

  4. Anthony says:

Neat idea for a food delivery back pack. I would say this is also a good place to get a green bike besides the Seinfeld set but at almost $90 to get it you may as well get the Seinfeld set to reach the threshold.

    • Pinky says:

I mean…two green bikes! If you are inclined to get the Seinfeld set. Personally I’m not. But if this ends up lining up with AFOL day here in the states, it will be the perfect opportunity for me to get Andrea’s Theater School (41714). Even with 15% discount it clears an $80 threshold.

  5. RYan says:

I must be getting too used to Lego objects looking more realistic—that abstract sandwich on top of the building is making me squint and use my imagination a little more than usual! Ha.

  6. Jeff Cooper says:

Too bad this is not retail set so no chance of getting this. Good thing I already have lots of food stalls from Sembo Block and other brands

  7. Teresa says:

Yay, I’ll be looking forward to this cute little set
