LEGO Horizon Forbidden West Tallneck (76989) officially revealed – coming May 2022!

February 16, 2022 By Jay Ong 2 Comments

LEGO’s licensing onslaught continues, with the official reveal of the LEGO Horizon Forbidden West Tallneck, which sees The LEGO Group and Playstation team up for this monstrously epic set.

The 1,222-piece Tallneck has a release date of May 2022, and will be priced at US$79.99 / AU$129.99 / £59.99. It will be available from LEGO.com or your local LEGO store.

See below for regional pricing and links:

  • 76989 Horizon Forbidden West Tallneck [US] – US$79.99
  • 76989 Horizon Forbidden West Tallneck [AUS] – AU$129.99
  • 76989 Horizon Forbidden West Tallneck [UK] – £69.99
  • 76989 Horizon Forbidden West Tallneck [EU] – €79.99
  • 76989 Horizon Forbidden West Tallneck [US] – CAD$99.99

The buildable Horizon Tallneck model measures over 34 cm (13.5 in.) high, 23 cm (9 in.) wide and 17 cm (6.5 in.) deep, and also includes an Aloy minifigure, which should excite fans of the Horizon Zero Dawn Franchise

For those unaware – Horizon Forbidden West is the sequel to the critically acclaimed Horizon Zero Dawn, and will be released this Friday, 18 February 2022. Reviews of the new Playstation exclusive have surfaced this week, and it looks set to be another critical hit for Playstation and developer Guerrilla.

This LEGO set for adults will take builders into an adventure world through Aloy, a fierce machine hunter and the Tallneck, the iconic and awe-inspiring machine Aloy uses to explore nearby areas in her mission to restore order and balance in Horizon Forbidden West.

In the game, Tallnecks are robotic communication towers that are not hostile to players, and if you scale one up, gives reveals the entire map in the area.

Included in this set is a brand-new headpiece for Aloy, the Watcher machine that comes with a choice of blue, yellow or red eyes and her bow and brick-built spear, alongside the authentic Tallneck machine, with a smooth, disc-shaped head and long slim legs to add striking features within the model.

Fans can finish their build by adding the beautiful landscape details like the brick-built birch tree, tall grass and a rusty stoplight, completing the centerpiece for its display moment.

And yes, Aloy comes with her signature white bow as well.

“Getting to team up with Guerrilla was truly remarkable” says Isaac Snyder, Designer at the LEGO Group. “The Guerrilla team is incredibly passionate about the world of Horizon Forbidden West and were a huge help in ensuring we were able to create an authentic representation in LEGO form. Thanks to our close collaboration we were able to include references to all the most iconic aspects of Horizon Forbidden West, from incredible machines, mysterious ruins, unique tribes , and stunning scenery. There is a huge amount of mutual respect between the design teams and everyone involved was beyond excited to see this model come to life! Our hope is that everyone building this model has as much fun as we did designing it.”

LEGO have revealed a whole bunch of Marvel and DC LEGO have revealed a whole bunch of Marvel and DC Comics sets including the highly anticipated 76261 Spider-Man Final Battle featuring all 3 Spider-Man from No Way Home!

Got a chance to see a preliminary model of 76261 a few months ago, and while the minifigure lineup is impressive, the model is absolutely tiny.

Venomised Groot is super cute, and the Batwing is an absolute winner at this scale and price.

This is LEGO 40364 Icons of Play, a set celebratin This is LEGO 40364 Icons of Play, a set celebrating some of the most accomplished female football players.

It features minifigures of @samanthakerr20, @mrapinoe, @yuki_nagasato and @asisat_oshoala, and is set to be released on 6 June 2023!

I read some extremely disgusting misogynistic comments on this set, from the usual terminally-online, incel-esque dudebros who probably need to get out a little.

Women's football is on the up and up, with exponential growth in game attendance, and TV viewership, and this is really smart timing on LEGO's part, releasing this just before the FIFA Women's World Cup starts.

Women's football has massive grassroots support, and is a hugely popular sport for young girls, the very builders of tomorrow that LEGO is continually trying to inspire.

LEGO is even a sponsor of the Australian national women's team @thematildas!

It's not even a bad set, and will integrate nicely into LEGO City, with clear references to the popular Football theme from the early 2000s.

Still, it's very disappointing (but not surprising) to see large LEGO pages continue to encourage and not take a stronger stance against sexism and misogyny.

Do better with your influence and reach.
