Inspired by one of the greatest songs of all time, LEGO Ideas have announced the its latest Ideas set, 21306 Yellow Submarine! The Yellow Submarine will take you on a surreal trip under the seas in the delightful (and trippy) Yellow Submarine that’s based on the iconic 1968 film that drew inspiration from The Beatles.

This set also features, for the first time ever, minifigure versions of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. Yes, history’s most successful boyband is finally available as LEGO Minifigures!

Rounding out the cast is Jeremy Hillary Boob, a freakish little animated character that’s the stuff of nightmares.

LEGO 21306 Yellow Submarine‘s release date is 1 November 2016 and will retail for USD 59.99 / EUR 59,99 / GBP 49.99 making it the perfect Christmas gift!

Be sure to check out the product page! It’s now available for purchase and surprisingly, there’s a limit of 2 per household!

The Australian price is unavailable at the moment, but I’ll update this space when news becomes available.

Update 2: The Australian price for the Yellow Submarine is going to be AU$79.99! Check out the product page for more details!

Update: The Yellow Submarine will be available at Australian retail stores and other toy stores like I’m Rick James Bricks on 1 December 2016.

21306 Yellow Submarine looks like a whole lot of fun, and given The Beatles’ legendary status in pop culture, I expect this set to be very, very popular in the lead up to the holiday and gift giving season. It’s bright, colourful, and whimsical – all the things you’d want from a LEGO set.

Also, the allure of owning minifig versions of The Beatles is going to be extremely strong.

Be sure to also check out this video that the LEGO Ideas team have put together.

I’d love to know your thoughts on the Yellow Submarine? Is this going to be a must-buy for you? Let me know in the comments!

If you’re in Australia, these should appear in shops in early December!

If not, I would highly recommend picking it up from LEGO.com as soon as it’s released on 1 November as I suspect that this is going to be extremely popular.

The only thing honestly swinging my favour is the fact that the Fab Four are immortalised in LEGO. Gonna be some of the most sought after mini figures ever I feel.
The sub itself? Meh, not overly excited by it tbh, maybe when I see it in the flesh my mind will be changed.

    • Jay says:

For the price, it’s actually pretty good. Even if the sub is meh, it looks like there are some really cool parts that can be reused.

Im definitely looking forward to seeing it in context with other sets. The size is always quite hard to gauge from official renderd
