Lego Simpsons Family House

Three days after the leak, LEGO has finally come out and properly announced their partnership with Twentieth Century Fox in conjunction with the 25th anniversary of The Simpsons. You can dig into the full press release here. Finally, we have more than a box and even a designer video that you can watch below:

Here’s the lowdown on the important bits of information. The set will retail in the United states for $199 which is a really great price considering it’s a licensed set AND has over 2,500 pieces. The set will be exclusive to Lego’s online store, official Lego stores and specialist Lego stores. This means that it’s not likely that we’ll see this popping up at Toys ‘R’ Us or Kmart. The set will be released in early February according to the press release. Some Eurobricks members have said that Lego’s Facebook Page have stated that the release date is 17 February 2014, but I can’t confirm that.

No news on other Simpsons-related sets but we will be getting Simpsons characters in the next Collectible Minifigure Series which will hit stores in May 2014. They’ll be priced $3.99 in the US.

No official news for the Australian release date or price, but I expect it to be released simultaneously worldwide. As for pricing, my best guess is AU$269.99. I’ll update this when I have more concrete details.

Update: Lego.com has listed the Simpsons Family House on their online store. It’ll cost AU$329.99 and will be available on 1 February 2014.

Lego Simpsons House Australia Release Date Price

Now that I’ve had a much better look at the set, I’m happy to say that I’m pretty impressed at the overall quality and build as well as the minifigures. Lego Bart Simpson

A point that the designer stressed on was that it is the first time in history that Lego has moulded sleeves and shorts onto minifigs. For the sleeves (highlighted blue) I’m taking this to mean that instead of the paint being sprayed on for the sleeve’s details, they’re actually using separate pieces of plastic to make up the entire arm. Fantastic news and I hope this trend extends to newer minifigures.

This is more Bart specific but we have shorts right now! If you look closely at the red loop, you can see a distinct mould on the leg sections, which is AWESOME. It also seems like they’re following the techniques used for the sleeve as well, which is fantastic. I’m most excited about these changes and what it means for future minifigures.

The interior also looks great. Colourful, nicely detailed and filled with tons of Easter eggs and references to the TV show such as the wheelbarrow being property of Ned Flanders as well as the Itchy and Scratchy sticker on the TV. Can’t wait to get this set and build it myself.

In the meantime, check out the beautiful hires pictures of the Simpsons Family House:

    Morning Jay,

I think desensitised is the right word. I remember gleefully paying $45 for Chima Eris’s Eagle Interceptor when I got back into bricks.

Just wanted to point you to discounted Lego @ Myer online at the moment — selective sets are marked down a fair bit.

Also that Kmart are flogging off the Haunted House for $189 (was $249).

    Cheers!

    Afternoon, Jay!

I noticed a few people have been reporting on the news from TLG, that we have a confirmed date and price for us Aussies.. Of course, I came running back here to check you were up with the latest (and.. Yes, you were lol). It made me wonder if you’re still o.k with this set considering the OUTRAGEOUS price difference between the USD price and the AUD price. $329.99 is an awful lot. I love the set and mayyyyy have considered it at $250 or less.. But this just hurts 🙁

Has the confirmation of the set price deterred you? If it hasn’t, I know why.. It’s an iconic family, the play value looks chock-a-block with so many rooms to get lost in, as well as the family car AND the entire family (minus aunts, gramps etc) plus Flanders.

Enjoy your day and keep on bloggin’!

    Nick

      Hey Nick

Yeah, unfortunately the huge discrepancy in price is not exclusive to us: I’ve got friends in the UK and EU who aren’t too happy with the prices there as well, but I guess living in Australia – we sort of get desensitized to the outrageous price differences here.

To be honest, I was expecting the worst but hoping for the best so the official price hasn’t deterred me TOO much. I will most likely get the set, since at this point there are no other Simpsons sets (other than the collectible minifigures). It’ll appreciate in value anyway, since it’s so iconic and exclusive. Plus, I’m also worried that the collectible minifigures line might have China-made parts and thus be inferior to the minifigs in the Family House. So yeah, I’ve pretty much already set aside some money for this (had to put a spending freeze on other sets for about 2 months!) so I’ll most likely pull the trigger the moment it becomes available!

      Thanks always for your support!

      Jay

Here's my review of 41757 Botanical Garden, hands Here's my review of 41757 Botanical Garden, hands down one of THE best sets of 2023 and a gleaming beacon of just how far the LEGO Friends theme has matured.

When you see the LEGO Friends Botanical Garden, it quickly becomes apparent that LEGO have something special on their hands with a design that's simply beautiful.

Hit the link in bio to read my full review!

It's truly a mark of a mature theme, that LEGO could debut a tasteful design like this into LEGO Friends, but crafted in such a way that it will also have broad appeal to City builders, or even fans who want a stunning architectural masterpiece to display their minifigures or minidolls in.

With so many amazing designs and sets being produced by Billund, 41757 Botanical Garden deservedly takes it's place as one of the best LEGO sets of 2023 and I can heartily recommend this set to everyone, and I have a gut feeling that this will be one of the best-selling LEGO Friends set of the year.

LEGO have revealed a whole bunch of Marvel and DC LEGO have revealed a whole bunch of Marvel and DC Comics sets including the highly anticipated 76261 Spider-Man Final Battle featuring all 3 Spider-Man from No Way Home!

Got a chance to see a preliminary model of 76261 a few months ago, and while the minifigure lineup is impressive, the model is absolutely tiny.

Venomised Groot is super cute, and the Batwing is an absolute winner at this scale and price.

This is LEGO 40364 Icons of Play, a set celebratin This is LEGO 40364 Icons of Play, a set celebrating some of the most accomplished female football players.

It features minifigures of @samanthakerr20, @mrapinoe, @yuki_nagasato and @asisat_oshoala, and is set to be released on 6 June 2023!

I read some extremely disgusting misogynistic comments on this set, from the usual terminally-online, incel-esque dudebros who probably need to get out a little.

Women's football is on the up and up, with exponential growth in game attendance, and TV viewership, and this is really smart timing on LEGO's part, releasing this just before the FIFA Women's World Cup starts.

Women's football has massive grassroots support, and is a hugely popular sport for young girls, the very builders of tomorrow that LEGO is continually trying to inspire.

LEGO is even a sponsor of the Australian national women's team @thematildas!

It's not even a bad set, and will integrate nicely into LEGO City, with clear references to the popular Football theme from the early 2000s.

Still, it's very disappointing (but not surprising) to see large LEGO pages continue to encourage and not take a stronger stance against sexism and misogyny.

Do better with your influence and reach.
