LEGO officially unveils Technic 42143 Ferrari Daytona SP3!

The official reveal is finally here! LEGO and Ferrari have unveiled Technic Supercar – 42143 Ferrari Daytona SP3!

Coming in at 3,778 pieces, this jaw-dropping model has a global release date of 1 June 2022, where it will be available exclusively from LEGO.com, and LEGO Stores, before a wider retailer release in August 2022.

42143 Ferrari Daytona SP3 will be priced at US$399.99 / AU$659.99, which is a smidge more affordable than the real Ferrari Daytona SP3, which costs a cool US$2.5 million, and is limited to only 599 models.

Alongside the launch, there will also be a limited edition coffee table book, The Sense of Perfection, celebrating the launch of the set. It’s a 228-page book, and will be limited to only 5,000 copies worldwide, and will be available exclusively from LEGO.com.

The Sense of Perfection Ferrari Coffee Table book will also be available from 1 June 2022, and will retail for US$79.99, £69.99 , €79.99.

Unless you’re an oil baron, Crypto billionaire or Jay Leno, you’re likely not going to own a real Ferrari Daytona SP3, so you’ll have to make do with the Technic version instead.

LEGO have really notched up their packaging, to deliver a premium experience fit for a Ferrari. The new box is red and loud, with a new rectangular shape, and a diagonal cutout along the back.

For fans that want to get even closer to the action, Ferrari and the LEGO Group have opened their doors to give supercar enthusiasts a sneak peek behind the scenes of the model’s design in an exclusive coffee table style book.

The book delves deep into the innovation and engineering excellence that unites both brands and takes a closer look at the collaborative process of conceptualizing, designing and producing the model, featuring interviews from LEGO Group and Ferrari designers and third-generation LEGO Group owner Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen on why the model means so much to him.

The LEGO Technic Daytona SP3, The Sense of Perfection coffee book will be available exclusively on LEGO.com globally from June 1, 2022 in an exclusive print run of 5000 copies.

The fourth addition to the LEGO Technic Ultimate Car Concept series measures over 5.5 inches (14 cm) high, 23 inches (59 cm) long and 9.5 inches (25 cm) wide when fully built.

The new 1:8 scale LEGO Technic model boasts a functioning 8-speed sequential gearbox with paddle shifter, a V12 engine with moving pistons and striking silver lacquered rims.

A pair of working butterfly doors open to unveil the sleek interior with a perfectly recreated cockpit with the prancing horse logo resplendent on the steering wheel, adding the final touches to this visionary model.

Fans can get even closer to the action by recreating the Ferrari Daytona SP3’s elegant design and sleek aerodynamics as they build this traffic-stopping red model.

There has been unprecedented collaboration between LEGO and Ferrari to make this happen, as I can imagine that LEGO’s designs were given advanced access to Ferrari’s design team.

They have graciously supplied these photos of both teams working in person and virtually.

The set was designed by Uwe Wabra, who is a Technic and Ferrari maestro, and who also worked on 2020’s 42115 Lamborghini Sian FKP 37.

And last but not least, here’s a side by side look with the real thing.

What do you think of 42143 Ferrari Daytona SP3? Will you be breaking the bank for this?

Love this. Jay, you’re great. I totally rely on you to know about new sets coming out. I have loved Ferrari since I was a kid as my Dad is a Ferrari mechanic. I have many other Ferrari LEGO sets and I don’t see how I can pass this up even with the price tag. I am really disappointed that they don’t just include the book with the set. For $400 USD it should be in the box!

Thanks again for all your work!

    • Jay says:

Oh that’s awesome to hear that your dad worked on Ferraris and you have a lifelong connection there.

I’d be deadset on getting the coffee table book. It’s quite large, and if you look at comparable coffee table books, I can understand why they didn’t include it with the set.

I won’t be buying the supercar on day one, but will absolutely try to get my hands on the book.

      • Jade says:

Is the coffee table book available in Australia on lego.com? I don’t see a price and I don’t see it listed! Regional exclusive?

  2. Andrew says:

Mouth-watering, in both execution and price. Suspect this will be miss unless it is eventually available on special.

    • Jay says:

With it being available at general retail in August, I can see it being discounted eventually.

The new rims, presentation AND printed UCS plaque are game-changers, and really elevate this above the previous supercars.

  3. Gary Koster says:

Nice and looks great but out off reach
