LEGO Power Rankings – February 2021

March 1, 2021 By Jay 5 Comments

Can you believe that February is over!? Continuing on from last month, I’ve now updated the LEGO Power Rankings for February 2021!

Be sure to check out the January 2021 Power Rankings to see how the Top 10 began, and for highlights from the blog, and around the LEGO world.

February 2021 LEGO Power Rankings

Without further ado, here are the new Power Rankings for February 2021!

Top 10 LEGO sets of February 2021

  1. 10281 Bonsai Tree
  2. 80107 Spring Lantern Festival [Review] [Rating: 5/5  ★★★★★]
  3. 21325 Medieval Blacksmith *NEW*
  4. 10278 Modular Police Station ⬇️ [Review] [Rating: 4/5 ★★★★✰]
  5. 71741 Ninjago City Gardens
  6. 10280 Flower Bouquet ⬆️
  7. Series 21 Minifigures [Review] [Rating: 4/5 ★★★★✰]
  8. 71738 Zane’s Titan Mech Battle ⬇️
  9. 10295 Porsche 911 Turbo & Targa *NEW*
  10. Harry Potter Moments Books ⬇️

February 2021 saw the release of 2 hotly anticipated LEGO sets, the Medieval Blacksmith and Porsche 911 Turbo & Targa which have debuted at the number 3 and 9 spot respectively, bumping the Miles Morales Mech and Trouble on Tattooine sets off the charts.

The Medieval Blacksmith is such a joy to build, and just the perfect addition to anyone who’s obsessed with the era of Classic LEGO Castle. In case you missed it, read my interview with designers Wes Talbott and Austin Carlson.

The Porsche had a pretty low debut, mostly because it didn’t bring a lot of innovation or freshness to the table. It’s a new Creator Expert-scale car (tick), but a model that’s been done to death before, and it’s hard to beat the 911 GT3 RS Technic version as the definitive Porsche 911.

I also bumped up the Flower Bouquet slightly, and was sorely tempted to also bump up Ninjago City Gardens, but alas, it’s really, really hard to beat the Bonsai and Spring Lantern Festival which are pretty flawless LEGO sets.

I think we’ll have a quieter March 2021… but who knows, we have a few interesting things coming, such as LEGO Vidiyo, new Raya and the Last Dragon, Ninjago The Island and Monkie Kid sets due for release.

Will LEGO drop any more surprised? Who knows, but I think there might be some surprise announcements for April on the cards.

What are Power Rankings?

Essentially, they’re commonly used in sports leagues like the NBA to track and compare the best/worst performing teams, often changing weekly based on results and how teams play.

I often get asked via email or on social media what the best sets of the (insert current) year/month are, and I usually rattle off what I personally like, so to start 2021, I’ve decided to start a regular series where I track and rank what the best 10 LEGO sets are at the end of each month.

This isn’t meant to be scientific or data-driven (some of these I haven’t personally built/own yet) – just my personal opinion of what I think are the best LEGO sets of 2021!

Of course, for a more comprehensive evaluation of LEGO sets, you can read my LEGO reviews for more detailed opinions. For sets that I’ve reviewed, I’ll also include the scores next to the power rankings, but it’s quite unlikely that I’ll get to review every amazing set of 2021 – I sometimes build and miss out reviewing due to time/scheduling issues.

It’s been real fun to compile, and hopefully, will be really useful as we look back at 2021. I think 2021 is going to be a sea change year for LEGO, so I’m cautiously optimistic to see how we track, month to month!

Not enough love for Ninjago City Gardens 😉

Seriously, thank you for the work that goes into this post every month, it’s a great summary of the Lego world.

And from my own personal power rankings, am building Diagon Alley at the moment. Am I alone in being underwhelmed with this, especially given its price tag?

You’re most welcome! Ninjago City looks really awesome, but until I get to build it personally, I don’t know, it’s a real hard one to truly appreciate as I hazard a guess that a lot of what sets it apart from other sets is its build experience.

You’re right about Diagon Alley – it’s impressive being a minifigure display set, and the architectural details are nice, but it lacks that “x-factor” unless you’re a massive Harry Potter superfan.
