LEGO remakes iconic Forestman’s Hideout set as a gift with purchase for 90th Anniversary

It’s actually happening! Thanks to Candidbricks, a LEGO Certified Store in China has given us a grainy sneak peek at an upcoming 90th Anniversary LEGO Gift with Purchase (gwp) – LEGO 40567 Forest Hideout.

Update: Check out my review of 40567 Forest Hideout, to see more of the set!

40567 Forest Hideout is now available from LEGO.com and your local LEGO stores, and is free with purchases of US$150 / AU$209 / £150 from 15-22 June, while stocks last.

Update 2: We now have availability details in North America, as well as more photos! 40567 Forest Hideout will be available from 15-22 June 2022, and will be free with purchases of US$150 or more. Check out this post for more details, as well as a look at 2 new 90th Anniversary VIP rewards!

Update: To see why the original is so special, check out my Retro LEGO Review of the original 6054 Forestmen’s Hideout!

This is a delightful retro throwback to 6054 Forestmen’s Hideout, complete with vintage-style packaging which has the set name in teal on the corner strip.

According to the flyer, the set will be available from 15-30 June in China, so stay tuned for global availability details, dates and purchase thresholds.

If you’re a Forestmen fan like myself, this set is a dream come true. Modern design and elements update this incredibly iconic set. It comes with a Forestmen and a Forestwomen, a small hideout, and of course target practice as well.

Looks like my prediction of Forestmen making a comeback was completely right, based off the presence of these Forestmen caps in the 10309 Succulents set!

And if you remember my 90th Anniversary Predictions from September 2021, it looks like I called this one perfectly!

Now if you’ll excuse me… I have a sudden need to rummage through my Vintage LEGO Vault to re-assemble this set.

I have a deep, deep love for the Forestmen (only outdone by my love for Wolfpack), so I am just filled with so much joy for this GWP.

Please enjoy some Forestmen photos below, and you can also revisit a Retro Review of 6071 Forestmen’s Crossing

What do you think of the Forestmen Hideout remake as a GWP?

I suspect this being BS, sorry people. I’m a big forestmen fan, but this smells like fake all over, and I’ll tell you why.

*Remakes don’t come with nearly / exactly the same boxart: check out the Legend sets.
*The setname is incorrect. It’s not Forest hideout, it’s ForestMEN hideout.
*On the boxart, where it shows the name, it should say: Legoland. They added the name to try and make it convincing.
*remaking certain parts is HIGHLY unusual, especially in existing colors. (Small red plume, remake has only been in tan, in the PotC set.)
*Only one and the same picture has emerged, and in shitty quality. Some photoshopped with the Amelia Earhart set, to make you believe it will be a GWP.
*And make it a GWP in China? Come on, these were very popular in Europe and America back then, not in China. This makes absolutely no sense.

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is… Sorry to burst your bubble. Try and convince me by showing me one different picture than we’ve seen so far, I challenge you.

    • Have to agree. Hope it ends up being real, but there’s a good chance you’re right.

    • Jay says:

Hey Guus, so this is pretty legitimate as it came from a LEGO Certified Store.

Secondly, the “remake” set name is Forest Hideout, likely to avoid having the same name as the original.

The strip in the corner with the set name isn’t without precedent – if you look at the box design for Pirates of Barracuda Bay, you’ll see that the set name is printed there in teal, as opposed to “Legoland”.

I’m not sure if it’ll be a direct plume remake, but LEGO have most recently produced plumes, most recently magenta in Series 22’s Troubadour. Also, in my 10309 Succulents review, I semi-predicted the return of Forestmen as the hats now exist in green.

To clarify the China connection, this was released by a LCS in China. It’ll likely be a global release – the image originated in China.

We don’t have any more photos we can share at this stage, but watch this space as we might get more info closer to the reveal.

  2. Forrest says:

Excited for this one to drop !
Is it possible to make a rough estimate from the Chinese min. purchase conditions what it is likely to be in Oz?

    • Jay says:

Based on similar-sized GWPs, (Cosmic Cardboard Adventures was AU$229, Jane Goodall was AU$169, Vintage Taxi AU$279) I could expect between AU$170 to $250).

  3. Tasnica says:

    This looks fantastic!

  4. Mark P says:

Like the other commenter says, fingers crossed they have plenty of stock, because this one is going to be popular!

  5. Ben says:

GWP kind of sucks. In Aus they seem to run out of the good ones in minutes …
