LEGO UCS Snowspeeder now on sale for VIPs! Plus Star Wars Day deals! [US/UK/AU]

April 30, 2017 By Jay Ong 4 Comments

Star Wars Day (May the 4th) is fast approaching and a whole raft of Star Wars-related sales have started on LEGO.com! Most importantly, the LEGO UCS Snowspeeder is now available for purchase for LEGO VIPs. Remember to sign into your VIP account to get it!

There are a few different offers and promos going on for different regions, so here’s a quick breakdown of the offers for Australia, the US and the UK.

Australia (29 April – 6 May)

  • The UCS Snowspeeder is available for purchase for LEGO VIP members for AU$329.99
  • 10% off all  LEGO Star Wars sets (except for the UCS Snowspeeder)
  • Free buildable R2-D2 with LEGO Star Wars purchases over AU$120

That’s pretty much it. Quite disappointing as 10% is a pretty crappy discount considering we’re used to paying at least 20% off retail at brick & mortar stores. The brick-built R2-D2 is a decent if unremarkable promo.

If you’re not in a rush to pick up the UCS Snowspeeder, you can always wait till it hits retail stores here – it’s probably going to be a Target exclusive as per usual and you can snag it for much less than $330.

United Kingdom (29 April – 6 May 2017)

  • The UCS Snowspeeder is available for purchase for LEGO VIP members for £169.99
  • 10% of all LEGO Star Wars sets except for the UCS Snowspeeder
  • Free buildable R2-D2 promo set with LEGO Star Wars purchases over £60
  • 40% off one specific LEGO Star Wars set

The UK has similar offers with Australia, but they have a special promotion where they’ll be discounting a different Star Wars set by 40% every day from the 29 April – 6 May 2017.

Promobricks has the full list of sets that are discounted and their dates, which I’ve compiled below for your convenience:

  • 75149 Resistance X-Wing Fighter – 29 April
  • 75523 Buildable Scarif Stormtrooper – 30 April
  • 75153 AT-ST Walker – 1 May
  • 75164 Rebel Trooper Battle Pack – 2 May
  • 75173 Luke’s Landspeeder – 3 May
  • 75105 Millennium Falcon – 4 May
  • 75120 Buildable K-2SO – 5 May
  • 75171 Battle on Scarif – 6 May

It’s a pretty decent list and 40% off + VIP points is a pretty snazzy discount especially if you don’t have these sets already. All offers and promos are applicable on LEGO.com or in LEGO Stores.

United States (4 – 7 May 2017)

  • The UCS Snowspeeder will be available for purchase US$199.99 on 4 May (apparently the VIP release was scrapped)
  • Double VIP points on all LEGO Star Wars purchases
  • Free buildable R2-D2 promo set with LEGO Star Wars purchases over US$50
  • Discounts on selected LEGO Star Wars sets

The United States seemed to have gotten the short end of the stick when it comes to Star Wars Day. It appears that the VIP release for the US was scrapped which means they’ll have to wait till the 4th of May to buy it. A pretty strange decision considering nearly everywhere else in the world got a VIP release on the 29th.

Hopefully the Star Wars LEGO set sale is at least decent.

In-Store Events @ LEGO Brand Retail

Oh and as reported by The Brick Fan, there will be an in-store event at LEGO stores in the US on 4 May 2017. Kids aged 6 – 14 can participate in a speed-building event where the fastest builder will receive a 5002123 Darth Revan polybag and others will receive a 5001621 Han Solo polybag.

Pretty cool that LEGO managed to scrounge up some Darth Revan polybags… if only they’d send them globally as I still haven’t got one because I can’t afford paying the aftermarket price on him.

If you’re lucky enough to be near a LEGO Store and have a kid aged 6-14 (or are one yourself), I would be practising my speed building!

Happy shopping!

Did you know that Fiona, the @lego Friends florist Did you know that Fiona, the @lego Friends florist is one of the first minidolls depicted with Down Syndrome?

Fiona works at the flower stall on Unity Street from 41732 Friends Downtown Flower and Design Stores

She is described as being 'good at crafts and decorating, and knows all the flower species by name.'

It's World Down Syndrome Day today and I think it's remarkable and very important for LEGO to enhance the perspectives of children on neurodiversity, physical disabilities, ethnicity and mental health, as they've done with the LEGO Friends reboot.

Here's my review of one of the most anticipate @LE Here's my review of one of the most anticipate @LEGO Disney sets - 43217 'Up' House ahead of its release on 1 April 2023!

This set is a dream come true for many Pixar fans, and we finally get a cute, compact and great looking Up House.

It has plenty of references to the movie, and Carl's everlasting love of Ellie, his late-wife which will absolutely delight fans.

Despite a strong lineup of minifigures (including an awesome Dug mould), the set's incredibly expensive pricetag (US$59.99/AU$89.99) doesn't feel like good value, especially with Kevin nowhere to be found.

Here's a look at 40587 Easter Basket, an incredibl Here's a look at 40587 Easter Basket, an incredibly affordable and attainable GWP that's available from 16 March!

It will be a GWP when you spend US$70 / €70 / £65 from 16 March - 9 April.

Lots of things to like here, as the design is cute, and the build is surprisingly technical, and it blends both Botanical and Animal construction.

Also like that the redemption period stretches into April, so if you have the Indiana Jones, Disney 100, or Guardians of the Galaxy sets on your radar, it should be an easy one to qualify for!

Such a breath of fresh air to get such a substantial GWP without having to spend hundreds of dollars. More like this please, LEGO!
