Some really great sets are on sale on Amazon Australia

Will be quick with this post – for those of you in Australia, Amazon Australia are running a random flash sale today, with some really great discounts on some awesome sets.

The Land Rover Defender at 32% off is a really notable deal, as is the soon to be retiring Assembly Square for 25% off and Watchpoint Gibraltar for 50% off.

A great time to order if you’re thinking of LEGO as a Christmas gift, or just a mid-week treat yourself. Get in quick as I don’t see the Land Rover Defender and some of these other deals lasting long!

Oh Jay, totally unrelated, by the way, have you seen Rick James has finally dropped the Lego jigsaw puzzles? Decent price too, I’ve picked some up for Christmas presents… And myself. ?

    • Jay says:

Oh, I did notice that! I have the mninifigure heads one on the way from elsewhere! Keen to get into some non-LEGO LEGO building!

      • Mark P says:

*gasp* Not supporting Rick James?!? ? The minifig head one looks awesome, I’ve got that and the minifig one on the way. Actually, it’ll probably get here today knowing them!

I see the Land Rover Defender has gone up to $290.35. That was a short sale!!

Long enough for me to break my “No more Lego is coming in to this house” stance though. I think I made it a whole 3 days this time.

Yeah, Amazon typically tends to have limited numbers of these large sets, and sometimes limits them when they go on deep discount. I believe it’s the lowest price the Defender has gone to in Australia (from memory), so it was always going to sell out fast!

If you haven’t already got the Saturn V, don’t miss it this time, especially at this price. Absolutely awesome build whether you’re into space sets or not.

Mark, sorry to hear about your experiences with amazon, I have stuff from them all the time (in the ACT) and have never had a late or damaged delivery (I have had next day delivery when I’ve ordered early enough). Most of their stuff to here comes via the Post Office who don’t seem to be having delays despite what the stores tell you. I do have Prime, perhaps they have better service levels for that.

Have you tried their customer service? In my experience it’s been very good when I’ve needed returns and/or refunds.

    • Mark P says:

I don’t have Prime, no. I don’t really understand the retail concept of making people pay extra for the same goods. Maybe that’s the problem?
My parcel was sent with some random courier, and Amazon completely washed their hands of it when I called them, saying I needed to get in touch with the courier. When I contacted the courier, they informed me that their call centre was closed due to Corona, and to send them an email. They never replied to my emails…!

No Jay, NO! You tricked me into buying something off Amazon last time, and though the warehouse is just up the road (ish), it took THREE weeks to arrive. Then when it did arrive, it took THREE attempts (they kept saying they couldn’t find my house. No other courier ever has said that!). Amazon here in Aus is a bit of a joke. I’m just glad none of it was for presents, because the boxes were seriously beaten up. One even had water damage. The carton they came in was fine.
So no, I’ll be sticking with official store, eBay, Rick James and BrickLink, methinks. Seriously, have you seen the shipping from Rick James recently? I’m getting stuff delivered in under 24 hours!
Sorry for ranty comment, have an excellent day! ?

So sorry to hear about your experience. I buy most of my small LEGO sets on Amazon (esp when they dip down to 40% odd), and have never had a problem, hence why I like recommending them.

It does sound like you got matched with a dodgy courier – the bane of my existence is StarTrack, and my packages got held up by 3 weeks too stuck in their depot.

Try getting in touch with Amazon’s customer service (email, don’t call) as they’re pretty good with making things right.

      • Mark P says:

I think we’re technically classed as rural here, that might explain it. Startrack for me are excellent. The driver always has a big smile on his face, and the depot have never lost my stuff, even some kits coming from weird tiny European countries.
Still, I’ll be honest, I’ll probably just stick with my usual guys and give Amazon a miss. I have noticed that when Amazon has a flash sale, a lot of the big guys on eBay will match it. They did yesterday for the Land Rover, but now everywhere is back up to $280.
